Gift Wrapping and Miss Bailey

12.15.2015

Yesterday I finally wrapped some gifts that have been sitting and waiting. I really don't like to wrap gifts and I think it's because I always end up on the floor and that just isn't comfortable.

This time I wrapped on the sun room floor where I could spread all the stuff out. I found the cutest paper and ribbons at HomeGoods this year. I worried the paper would be thin and tear easily, but this paper is really really good and I'm not getting anything for saying that. I love a bargain.

I found all this ribbon at HomeGoods, too. I had bought a roll of plaid ribbon from a design shop to use as garland on the tree and it was $29. Then I found this roll of almost the same ribbon at HG and it was only $9.99.

This is my girl ignoring me because she has to rest because of a limp in her back leg. So far she is doing quite well and has quit limping, but she has to not move as much as possible till Friday when she goes back for a visit again to the vet.

She really doesn't mind her crate, but of course doesn't understand why I keep makingher get in it.

So far the gifts for the grands are wrapped and I will have a few more gifts to wrap as they arrive.

This bench is where the gifts were stacked up waiting to be wrapped. It looks so much better with the pretty pillow on it instead of a bunch of big boxes.

I hope y'all will come back tonight for Wow Us Wednesdays at 7pmEST.
So much inspiration!

  1. Love your mix of plaids and ribbon for your wrap Kim! I found a table runner at HomeGoods with the same pattern as your tree skirt! Hope Miss Bailey's R&R in her crate prevents her from having surgery. ♥

  6. Hi Kim! Love the plaid. Home Goods was extra "good" this season, I think. They really had some great things with incredible prices. I was especially impressed with their holiday pillows. Hope little Bailey is patched up soon, poor little lady. Jane

  10. When I saw your title it scared me! So glad Miss Bailey is doing better. We've never crated our little pup, but she has a couple of beds that I can send her to. I hope she gets a good report at the vet!
I wrap as I buy the gifts. Seems like I have alot of things that fit better in gift bags (odd sizes). I used alot of the brown bags and paper - it works well with my burlap things.

  11. I was nervous when I saw the title. I wouldn't want anything serious to be wrong with that precious baby. Happy she's feeling better. Us with our babies worry about others too. I think it's in our makeup

    Love the ribbon you chose

  12. Your gifts look beautiful. I found some great paper this year at Home Goods and Marshalls. I found some beautiful red ticking stripe paper at Marshalls and wrapped some faux gifts to decoratate the tree in the dining area. I hate wrapping and used to end up wrapping on the floor. This year I used the kitechen table and it was so much quicker and more comfortable. Miss Bailey is so cute. I hope her leg is better real soon.

  14. Firstly hope Miss Bailey is all better soon as well. I wanted to share with where I wrap gifts now. Floor doesn't work me anymore...so I've discovered my ironing board is perfect for gift wrapping! Hope you will try it.

  20. Even your wrapping paper is coordinated with your rooms. I also hate gift wrapping. I hit the dollar store for bags...the greatest "invention" ever. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  21. I hated wrapping on the floor just like you!! A few years ago I bought an old dining room table from a sweet elderly lady who took very good care of it. She had pads made for it....the thick hard felt ones. I don't use them on the table which is now covered in multiple layers of Annie Sloan but I use them to wrap packages on. I put them on our bed(it sits high) in the Master bedroom...turn the TV on and wrap for hours. The pad makes the perfect platform and the TV keeps me company and I'm all alone in my own little world!

  23. Kim, your wrapping looks so pretty. I hate it too so I usually get the bags then I just have to add tissue and a ribbon. That I can handle. Hope Miss Bailey gets to feeling better..Merry Christmas..Judy

  24. Kim, seeing Bailey's sweet face makes me sad that she is suffering. I hope the hip is better by Friday so she doesn't have to be in the kennel. I'm sure she doesn't understand.
Love the pretty bench and that wonderful pillow!

  25. Sadly, we do not have a Home Goods or an IKEA in the whole state of OK. Surprise, surprise. We are, however, getting a Trader Joes, and that's big news. Very pretty paper! Why is it your dog is so good? Go read what mine did while I ran out for just about 30 minutes. Lawsy. How on earth can this go on for another month???

  26. I hate getting on the floor to wrap gifts also Kim! Inevitably I misplace the tape, scissors or both, but it's the best place to get the job done. I hope Miss Bailey is up and at 'em soon!

  28. Kim I always get my ribbon and paper at Marshalls (same group). I have some of the same ones that you do. The paper is amazingly strong and you are right the ribbon is to die for!
