6 Ways To Add Cozy

The holiday decorations are put away so now what? It's winter and it is cold out so it's a good time to cozy up your home with some simple ideas.

I'm joining four other bloggers with awesome styling skills so be sure to check them out at the end of the post for more winter decorating ideas.

1.Add a big cozy throw.
Mr. Savvy loves to grab this leopard faux fur throw. It is quite heavy so sometimes he ends up throwing it back off.

2.Fill an urn with some cut logs, pine cones, and greens.
I just took this out of the fireplace and placed it on the sofa table for a change.

3. Add cozy knits.
I added this off white knit pillow mixed with the plaid. This surely says winter.

4. Use pine cones or other natural items for texture.
I have my over sized dough trencher filled with a variety of pine cones, vines and an antler shed or two. I used this for Christmas with some added red berries and I just removed those even though I could have left them.

5. This is obvious, but add logs to the fire place.
We don't burn actual logs since we have a crack in the fire place, but just adding logs adds the cozy feel. Of course burning them would be even cozier.

6. Add candles.
I had these up with the garland for Christmas and I just left the candles after removing the garland.

More throws in a large vintage crock.

More texture added by adding dried greens to the confit pot.

And because this is how quickly things can change around here I decided to add two of the demijohns beside the urn after I had shot all the other pictures and had finished this post. Yea, I'm crazy.

They had been on this table with the big green demijohn that I moved to the fireplace so I just put them back.

This is my view from the kitchen sink. Makes me want to go curl up with that throw and start a fire.

I hope this gives you some ideas for your own home to get through the winter months.

  4. Love the "cozy" throughout the house....We all need cozy during this time of year!...Happy Friday!

  5. Cozy room!
We had a crack, a big one in the fireplace also....we had it repaired, which wasn't terribly expensive, and then put in a gas log set. Hubby was so upset that we put in "fake logs" but now he loves it.....
If you have gas in your home....you might look into it....nothing says cozy like a fire....

    1. Nancy, I wish we had gas, but we are total electric so no nice burning fire except for using those paper wrapped logs we buy for the times I do want a fire.

  6. So cozy indeed Kim! I love that faux leopard throw and could totally see that in any style of decor. Thanks for joining along and the inspiration!

  7. Looking very cozy at your house! I have some pine cones that I painted white before Christmas so you've inspired me to put them in my dough bowl! It's the little things!
