Which One?

5.03.2016

Y'all know I can't leave well enough alone, right? Well, on a whim I decided to change what hangs over the guest room bed. I love the mirror, but I kept walking by this picture that hung in the little hallway off of the garage where we come in. I said to myself.....self you really need to try that over the guest room bed just so it will quit bugging you. So that's exactly what I did and now I'm not sure which one is better.

This?

Or this?

So I'm asking y'all which one do you prefer or I can just try one for awhile and then hang the other one for awhile? Hey, that's what I do around here anyway.

Have y'all changed anything up in your home lately? Then come on back tonight and share at Wow Us Wednesdays at 7pmET !

  1. I like #1 better. The mirror, plus I like the shams better in that pic.

  2. Hi In my humble opinion I think the mirror is toooo small above the bed by itself...so maybe hang both w/maybe a third pic???Thx

    1. Actually it isn't too small. I think it's the angle of this shot/

  3. Kim, I like them both, but I prefer the mirror! Either one looks great'

  4. Bridgette, either works by itself, but it would be too much together. Thanks

  6. The picture. I think the scale is better. I like the white quilted shams best too. Oops, you didn't ask my opinion on that one! 😁 It is your house, do whatever makes you smile when you walk by the room.

    1. Thanks, Sherry. Yes, I like the other shams, too. I was just trying those out and forgot to put them back before taking the pic.

  7. I think the cow. Mirror is a little small for the area, to me.

  8. I like both pieces. I agree with Bridgette, the mirror is too small and also hung too high. It doesn't relate to the headboard. The painting is a good size but you really need something horizontal instead of vertical.

    1. The mirror really isn't too small. Vertical or horizontal will work here. I will probably try out other things. Nothing stays the same. :)

  9. I love the cow print. The scale is better and it adds a lot more impact to the already beautiful space.

  11. I love the pillows in the first pic but I am loving the cow. I now follow you on instagram. I do have something to share on Wow Us Wed but I have tried in the past and have had some trouble posting it. Not sure why? I'm actually having problems typing this comment, may be time to have my computer checked out????

  12. I like the cow picture so much more. I like the mirror but I think it is hanging to high above the bed. And I have to add that I love this room and would be thrilled to stay there! Lucky guest!

  13. The cow.........the mirror is beautiful but a tad small. You have a beautiful home.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The print seems to blend in with the wall a bit but the scale is better than the mirror which seems a little small. Maybe a frame around the cow?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks Michelle! Probably won't frame the cow.

  15. I like the mirror but agree it's too small for the scale of the bed. Would suggest looking/making a large picture frame to "frame" your mirror. You'd have the scale you need and add an architectural effect.

    1. Thanks for the idea, but I won't be adding a frame around the mirror.

  16. I think I have to vote "Cow". The mirror seems a little small to me, but sometimes the angle of a picture can throw off the scale?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Thanks Melissa! Yes, it's the angle. There are more shots in the post of the whole room.

  17. The Cow! I really think the Mirror is to small and gets loss on the wall.

  18. Both are lovely Kim, but I really like the cow print best. The size seems better suited for the space. Beautiful bedding! :)

  19. I like the cow print very much but I agree, the scale is a tad too tall and narrow, at least from my vantage point. Do you have any chippy white shutters that you could put on either side of the cow? I love the quilted cream shams as well and would use those as they look very restful and cozy. Thanks for all of your inspiration, your newsletter is the highlight of my day when I see it in my inbox. I recently decided to decorate my new master bedroom just like your old guest room with the blue ticking, etc. The next day you changed up the guest room on me!! Good thing I had saved pictures of it. Love this room as well as the rest of your beautiful room.

  21. I love that you are sure enough of your fabulous design aesthetic to ask for our opinion! The cow is fabulous, put back the white shams, and even though you probably used the nail from the mirror to hang the picture, don't you think it needs to come down a few inches??

    Thank you!

    1. No had to move the nail way up from the mirror. I did notice it needs to come down a smidge. Thanks!

  22. I might like the cow print if it weren't for the different shams. I think I would prefer it with the white pillows in the first pic. But it's all gorgeous either way, I'm just being nit picky because you asked! Have a good day!

  23. Without a doubt.... the cow! Mooove over mirror and make way for that creature with the big brown eyes! I love the cow paintings, they add so much warmth and character to a space!

  24. Absolutely live the cow print!

  25. Keep in mind how much I love cows and weigh accordingly. My vote is for the cow, of course!

  26. I vote for the cow as it seems to fill the space a little more, but the both work well.
    Be blessed.

  28. The cow picture. It helps to create a more relaxed, yet elegant country look with that headboard and the lamps and linens.

  31. I think the scale of the picture is better in the space. the mirror is lovely but too small by itself.

  32. I like the mirror because of its shape but I think it's hung too high right now. Try lowering it.

    1. Thank you. I will lower it a bit if I use it again.

  33. Love the cow and the bedding you have with it. Makes me smile to think of myself as a guest in that room. Of course, as others have said, it's your home so whichever, whatever makes you smile when you step into the room. Cheers, Ardith

  34. Definitely the cow, reminds me of our local breed, the French Limousin! So now you have a French cow hanging above the bed!!!

  35. I like the cow picture better! The size of the cow art seems better for that space. The mirror is beautiful too but just seems too small for that space.

  38. The scale of the cow print is better. Maybe find a bigger mirror? The cow looks too pale? Hey, I LOVE those blue pillow cases with the deep ruffle!

    ReplyDelete
  39. White shams and "cow"...hung a wee bit lower. : )

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like the cow but prefer the mirror. I'm wondering if the mirror appears small because the angle highlights its relationship to the span of the wall rather than the frame of the bed.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think it fits the space okay. I think this angle throws off the size.

  41. Oh, and those blue ruffle end pillow cases...I die! Where are they from?

  42. I think the scale is good on both but I love the cow. My only hesitation is one already mentioned - I would want the cow to be seen by everyone!

  43. Surprisingly I like the cow better! I think the colors are really pretty and fresh for spring. Maybe you could let her graze here for a few months, and then bring the mirror back in the fall.

  44. I like the mirror. It adds another dimension of color and texture.

  45. I had a hard time deciding but in the end my vote is for the cow print :o)

  47. The mirror is too small; the picture is a better size for the space. Let us know the final score in the cow versus mirror debate.

  48. ! I vote the cow picture! I'm absolutely in love with it. A few months ago after seeing it and another one I think you have I started buying a couple cow pictures of my own. Thank you. Hugs,

  49. I like the cow, it picks up the blue in the bedding nicely. To me the mirror is too high.

  50. I like the painting but not a cow....I think a large canvas landscape in similar colors would be terrific!
Of course I'm an artist and can paint one. Our bedroom has a painting of a place we visited in Paris.
I truly feel a cow is more a kitchenish piece.
But what do I know...I'm not a decorator.

    1. Sally, you are the first and only person to say the mirror is the right scale. Thanks!!

  52. I like the scale of the cow painting over the bed, rather than the mirror. If you leave the mirror, I'd add somthing to either side or make a grouping in someway.
You have a great eye, so you'll settle on what looks the best. '-)

  54. I didn't read all the comments so I don't know what the consensus is, but here are my tho'ts as I looked at one, then the other, then looked at both of them again. I think the mirror is too small for the space over the bed. It might be better if it were hung lower, but the thing I don't like about it there is that it has no function. It's a mirror without a purpose! I like the cow painting a lot and the colors complement the blue pillowcases. However, I wonder if there is anything else in the room that relates to the cow--either with color or a specific "farm" item. My choice is definitely the cow because, also, it's scale fits the space much better. Does that help?! Judging from the number of responses you have a LOT to consider here! Let us know what you decide--perhaps it will be something "completely different" over the bed!

    1. Naomi, I guess you missed the reveal of this room recently. The whole room has a French farmhouse vibe. I don't have anything to consider really. The cow it is....for now. :)

  55. I love the cow because I like cows! It takes more space on the wall..fills it up abit and seems to go well with the gingham material. Maybe it is the picture but the mirror doesn't seem to fill the space above the bed and seems abit high in comparison to the pictures on the opposite wall. But then I am short (5'3) and I like my pictures on the wall at eye level.

  56. The cow is my choice. I have that cow picture, and the colors make the whole thing look so frigid! So it's perfect for warm weather. I don't have it hanging right now, but I think I need to find a spot for it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Looks like a win win to me!! But I'm partial to the beautiful cow.

  58. Being from earthquake country we can't hang glass or mirrors above our beds... so I like the cow... but actually, I like the cow :)

  62. I picked the French Charolaise Cow; besides being french she looks great in your gust room! FYI ~ Charolais cattle originated in the district around Charolles in Central France. It is one of the oldest of the French cattle breeds in existence. A pure Charolaise cow is characterized by a spotless, uniformly white or sometimes cream coat and clear-colored and inward-curving horns. The Charolaise is particularly known for its rapid growth rate. Its name comes from the town of Charolles, in Burgundy, around which Charolaise cows were first bred. Selection of the Charolaise breed began in the 18th century when these cows started to expand in surrounding French regions.
With 1.5 million Charolaise cows currently bred in France, the Charolaise breed is the preferred domestic beef breed. It is also the first beef breed used in Europe. Use of the Charolaise for cross-breeds in France and abroad is a very common practice.

  63. I pick neither - sorry. I think something horizontal and almost as wide as the bed would look better. Mirror too small and cow too big. There is my two cents worth.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would have to go with the Cow,it marries well with the checkered material, simply lovely!

    ReplyDelete
  65. How do you choose between two great looks? But if I'm forced to, I'll go with the cow, just because it's unique.

  66. I love the mirror, but I think it's too small. Love the cow print...picks up the colors in the room.
