Farmhouse Style Guest Bath Updates

7.28.2016

As many of you know I have been removing most of the red in my home over the last several months. I still like red I just don't want to have my home filled with it anymore. My taste changed somewhere along the way and I just needed to make things a bit lighter and fresher. I think it was happening around the time I turned.....ahem, sixty. Anyway, in April of 2015 I shared the guest bath transformation that Mr. Savvy and I worked on. There were red accessories in there and they needed to be removed to go with the new lighter colors in the guest room and the rest of the house.

I restyled the room using what I had except for the shower curtain. I went shopping for a bargain for that.

I found the perfect shower curtain at Target. This curtain is soft like an old sheet and the black designs on it are perfect for the farmhouse style I want in here.

Old chippy stool with a little slipcover.

The picture over the toilet got a simple frame change. I took the picture out of a small brown frame and used this black frame that I had on hand.

You can see the original look of this bathroom here and how to paint over wallpaper.

An unexpected new look in the guest room is coming up next week!

  7. Love that shower curtain! I bought one a while back from Target too - actually bought 2 (alike) and cut one to make a pleated band across the bottom of the curtain. I like them a bit longer.

  15. Like you my design taste has changed and I find myself drawn to a more calm color palette, especially on the walls. I love that you referenced Revere Pewter! It is the color I have picked, when the time (and money) comes to repaint my (now peanut shell colored) living room/hallway walls. Right now, as I type this note, I am having my house trim painted SW Pussywillow. Look for a post soon. I fell in love with Revere Pewter when I worked as GM of an historic inn and we used it in all of the newly remodeled rooms. Guests raved about it. The ceilings were painted Philadelphia Crème for added "wow"!

  16. It's perfect, Kim. I absolutely LOVE that shower curtain, too. The towels are from PB, I'm guessing? I have the same ones with yellow dots. I love their towels!

  17. First of all, you don't look anywhere near sixty! Second, I adore that bathroom! The floor alone is amazing but you accessorized it so perfectly!

  18. Love this classic look! I am loving the Revere Pewter wall color! Sometimes I see it in pics and it looks like this and sometimes it is grayish. How would YOU describe it? (I have yet to get an actual paint strip of it because the idea of re-painting now is just a dream/nightmare! Looks crisp and just perfect in your bathroom!
