Patriotic Dining Outdoors

7.03.2016

I hope y'all are enjoying this holiday weekend! If you follow me on IG then you know we have been working extremely hard in the yard and boy did our bodies feel it. I will share more on the blog soon.

A few days ago I shared the seating side of the deck dressed in it's patriotic colors. Of course I had to decorate the dining side, too.

We recently purchased this umbrella from our neighbors. They weren't using it and it's perfect for some much needed shade on ours.

When I saw these cute striped plates at HomeGoods I knew they had to come home with me.

I mixed red checked napkins that I already had with some new blue plaid napkins from HomeGoods.

The wooden star is part of a banner I bought in the dollar bins at Target. I was going to hang it, but it looked dinky so then that light bulb moment happened to use them as an embellishment on the napkin rings. I just glued them to some wicker napkin rings I had.

They didn't have six striped plates so I looked around for something else for the two end spots and found these super cute lobster plates. I'd rather mix things up anyway.

I had picked up this striped runner from World Market before we bought the umbrella. Then I had that uh oh moment when I went to set the table. The umbrella was in the way. No problem, I just cut a hole in the runner and ta da it's perfect. I need to go buy a large grommet to attach to the hole.

White impatiens with a Dollar Store flag work well for the centerpiece. The clay pot is naturally weathered. I need to get another clay pot to do that.

I took this shot while Mr. Savvy was mowing the back and making the white smoky looking background from the very dry backyard at that time. It was like a dust storm.

The tobacco basket moved to this side since the DIY flag is hanging in the other spot.

I found these cute hanging paper lanterns at Hobby Lobby, I think.

Come on over for a cookout and then we will sit over here and visit a bit before setting off some fireworks since it looks like it is just Mr. Savvy and me. :(

Have a happy and safe 4th!

  12. Fabulous tablescape for your nation's special day! Love that you mix/match with the lobster plates. I think more companies should sell table linens that have a pre-cut hole for those umbrellas - we all need them but I haven't seen many! Your wonderfully decorated deck is looking like the perfect place to spend the summer!
