A French Country Fall Tour

9.22.2016

I am so thrilled to be joining some very talented friends today and tomorrow for a French country fall tour with Soft Surroundings and Romantic Homes Magazine. My home is a mix of French country and French farmhouse with some traditional tossed in. No pumpkins in my house yet, but texture and color have been added to usher in fall and what better day to join this tour than the first day of fall?
So get comfy and we'll tour my great room and then be sure to click on the links at the end of the post to see some more fabulous French country fall infused spaces.

I wasn't sure what direction I was going to go in to bring fall into this room and then while shopping I spied this wonderful, colorful and textured striped pillow and I knew it had to come home with me.

I had also bought a pair of brown pillows to go with the striped one and it looked okay, but wasn't quite the look I wanted. So I went to my stash and found these beautiful pillows in all the right colors. Love when that happens.

Now that you know what started the fall decor in here I must share my favorite new thing...this comfy French chair from Soft Surroundings that even looks good from the rear.....wish I did, but we won't go there. I know I have changed out the chair in this spot three times, but hey this one is a keeper in this spot for now. I can always swap again if needed since my room colors all work together.

When I was choosing this chair there were three color choices and I ordered the swatches to make sure I didn't make the wrong choice. I knew this sage green was the one. And look who came back out! So glad to use my cow pillow again. It goes perfectly with the colors in the other pillows on the sofa. In fact I had first placed the cow on the sofa, but then moved it to the chair.

The other thing that is new is this Dash & Albert area rug that I bought a couple of months ago and have been waiting to share. Browns and greens are both neutrals and the colors of nature so they work together well.

Let's look at the rest of the room.

Dried roses in soft colors and a vintage French bread basket filled with pods are perfect fall additions.

I love to use birds like quail in the fall and I have hung onto this one for years.

No pumpkins yet just some dried seed pods.

An old dough bowl is filled with found antler sheds, moss covered balls, preserved boxwood and a vine.

I was going to replace the ivy with something fallish, but decided to leave it.

This vintage trapper's basket filled with fall leaves by the fireplace adds a lot of fall decor to this room and I don't want to overdo it.

In the fireplace I placed some birch logs and a vine for more texture.

Not a lot of changes to the bookcases. I added this burlap wrapped greenery on one side.

Not much change to this side of the room except for a cheap and simple DIY art that I will share more of tomorrow with the links to tomorrow's tours.

  14. Isn't it amazing the chair color says sage green but it looks pale blue in your room. I also bought that exact same Dash & Albert rug. Mine is a mess. It will not lay flat even with a high quality rug pad and the ends are not straight. They are all floppy and trip people.

    1. Maybe your monitor makes it looks more blue. It's definitely a pale sage green. I love my rug and have had no issues with it. It laid down flat from the start.

  34. So beautiful! Could you come to my house, please! A couple of "silly" questions: where can I find those seed pods and is it possible to buy birch branches or do I need to find one to cut? :-)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Linda, I have picked up those pods while travelling in different shops. The birch logs can be ordered because that's what I did. I don't remember what site, but I just googled birch logs for sale. I'm pretty sure it was through amazon. I have also seen them for sale in different decor shops and even at Crate & Barrel since I ordered them.
