At the Foot of the Bed

9.16.2016

Are y'all ready for the weekend? It is still very hot here....go away heat and we need rain! I will probably be taking lots of pictures for an upcoming fall blog tour coming up.

Today I'm talking about the space at the foot of the bed. A bed doesn't have to have anything added to the foot of it, but sometimes it's wasted space that is just the right place for extra storage and it can add a pretty touch. I have changed out what is at the foot of the beds in my home many times.

This French style bench used to be in the master and I loved it, but Mr. Savvy bumped into it a couple of times so I moved it out.

This pretty tufted upholstered bench has been used in the master and in the dining room.

A vintage French basket is great for adding those extra quilts.

I love to use a bench. Great for stacking quilts, blankets, and a spot for your guests' luggage or for styling with accessories.

It also makes a great spot for a little Americana decor.

Stacked baskets are great for storage.

Old wooden bench that I painted is good for stacking quilts and really good for guests' luggage since this one is deeper.

vintage basket is good to hold extra pillows or blankets.

A cute caned bench in a pretty color.

This antique bench from France is being used now.

I hope these give you some new ideas for that space at the foot of the bed.

Wishing y'all an awesome weekend!

  7. These are all great ideas! In my current home there is not room at the end of the bed, but in previous homes we have had a huge wicker trunk.

    1. Julie, if you are talking about the one in the first photo that is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen with clear and dark waxes.

  14. I think some magazine should hire you to "dress their beds" before photographing. You're a natural at it!

  16. No room at the end of the bed in my downsized space. I would really like a creative situation for storing sweaters in winter. The shelf in my closet is too high and the drawers are all full of sweats, pj's, socks, undies and tees.

  17. I've always dreamed to have a bench or a chest of the foot of my bed, but I never had enough space in any of my bedrooms, so I really enjoyed all the different possibilities you explored!

  19. Nice ideas, Kim. Sadly, I have such a small bedroom that there isn't room for anything at the foot of my bed! It pains me because I could really use some extra storage space for quilts and blankets. My linen closet is not at all adequate. Any ideas, anyone?
