September Foyer

9.15.2016

Today I'm sharing how I have styled my foyer for September. I would say fall, but I may change things up again in October or even November when it actually looks and feels like fall outside. It is still so darn hot out. Of course the first day of fall is still a week away, but we are trying to rush things up since this has been a very hot summer.

This vignette on top of the French chest was so simple to create. I just replaced the blue bottles that were there for summer with my vintage trophy collection.

I created this fall arrangement with clippings from my yard. I cut some crape myrtle branches with the berries, then clipped a couple of hydrangea blooms that were still on the bush, and then I clipped some wildflowers along the wood line of our yard.

I tucked a jar filled with water inside the confit jar to hold the flowers. Easy peasy.

I tucked a couple of my velvet pumpkins in this trophy cup for texture.

This is the view coming in the front door and we are going to go past this chest a bit to what I call the extended foyer even though it's actually the great room.

Some of y'all won't believe this, but this painting that we nicknamed "the traveler" has hung on this wall for twenty one years. It may be the only thing in the house that has never moved. My mom had this painting and was getting rid of it over 41 years ago, before I got married, and I grabbed it since I was just starting to make my own home.

I've added very traditional fall colors and this amber demijohn works perfectly here after moving from the refreshed dining room.

The kilim and cheetah pillows add some nice texture in warm fall colors.

I will be sharing the great room next week when some talented friends and I join a French country fall blog tour with Soft Surroundings and Romantic Homes Magazine.

You can revisit last September's foyer here.

  3. What an interesting pedestal you have for those trophies to be grouped upon.
The view from the foyer back is so nice with those gorgeous wood floors!

    1. Thanks. That pedestal was a gift from friends and then I painted it. The wood had an odd odor and the paint helped that go away.

  5. Kim, your foyer is ready for autumn if it ever feels like fall. The painting is fabulous...my hubby plays guitar and I would love to run across something like this for him! Pam @ Everyday Living

    1. My mom found that painting somewhere and it's not signed or anything. Would love to know more about it. It appears to be an original, but not sure. When she had it in a pile to be carried off I snatched it.

  6. I love the traveler, so glad he has always stayed in the same place, the traveler who has found his true home! Are the trophies family treasures or things you have picked up along the way? They make such a pretty picture.

    1. Yes, I have tried to move him and put something else there, but that seems to be just his spot.
