The Blue Sunroom

2.20.2017

My sunroom has been many colors and for the past several months it has been transforming over to blue. Blue and white are always a classic and this room just feels fresh and it makes me happy. As the warmer seasons approach I will probably add another pop of color with different pillows. I'm always changing the pillows. Maybe some added orange or green.  For now it is all about the blue.

The first thing you might notice is the Farmhouse sign has been removed above the windows.

The sign has hung there for a couple of years and I wanted a change. The sign has moved to another room.

Fresh basil sits in this sunny room and smells so good. I can pinch some off when needed.

Wood beads add nice texture.

Instead of buying new pillow covers from Pottery Barn I branched out and shopped Etsy. I like supporting those small shops. The blue houndstooth pillows have the most wonderful texture and came from California Livin Home. They came really fast and beautifully packaged.

Roses are tucked in a vintage transferware sugar bowl.

I loved the pattern of the front pillow as soon as I saw it at Cathy's Custom Pillows. I felt bad when the first order never arrived and there was no tracking on it. They just vanished into thin air. She quickly sent me out a new pair. She didn't have enough fabric to make me two new pillows with the same fabric on both sides so she let me pick out another fabric and made them reversible. There is a stripe on the other side. That is what I call good customer service.

Did you notice my new rug? I love it. It is another rug by Dash & Albert rugs in a blue herringbone cotton. The off white rug had gotten quite stained and flat in the traffic areas.

I talked about this little cabinet of curiosities here.

That's my blue sunroom for now. 😀

Hope y'all have a fabulous week!

  16. Its beautiful Kim, I'm thinking of adding blue in honor of my mom for the summer. My mom loved blue and white. Everytime I see a room decorated in blue and white it makes me smile because I think of her.

  22. I'm always one to make or have pillow covers made. I buy very few ready-made. One way to get something unique. I can sew the very most basic and then have used two bloggers with sewing businesses for pillows.

  30. First, I love you new rug! The new pillows are really pretty and I agree Etsy is such a great resource. I find with Pottery Barn that some seasons I love their pillows and other seasons I find them blah.... I re-did our great room last summer and went to blue and white. My splurge was an Ethan Allan step-back bookcase. I ordered it in chambray blue and the saleslady said that was a first but I love it and my husband even told me it's his favorite piece in the room.
