A Short Move Across the Hall and Spring Updates

4.13.2017

When I shared the new look of the French style guestroom with the new mirror and bed no one asked where the wooden mirror frame that was over the bed went. Not one of you. I was really surprised. Na, just kidding, but y'all really didn't. Well, since I know y'all really wanted to know I'm sharing where it moved to. I didn't want to leave y'all hanging too long. 😀

As you can see it was just a short move across the hall to the other guestroom.

While we are in here there have been some pillow changes....of course. The grain sack pillow that was down stairs on a bench has moved to this bed. I replaced the dark quilt with this lighter one.

I like the frame in here. Don't you?

This cute little pillow, from an etsy shop, adds some nice pops of color and goes so well in this corner.

Isn't it fun?

Oh, and a few days later I decided to add this bird pillow that I bought last spring to the bed.

It just adds another bold color on an otherwise neutral bed.

Of course the bird adds a touch of spring, too.

I'm really wanting to find a bed skirt that is less yellow than this one. It really bugs me.
I'm also contemplating removing the faux plank wall wallpaper since it is removable.
What do y'all think?

I'm taking Miss Bailey in for her senior well care check. How is my baby a senior already?
Then I will be visiting my mom this afternoon.
Have a good one!

See how this room looked last time here.

  4. I always love your bedroom decorating style. I'm in the mode for redoing our master bedroom on a tight budget so I have been studying your bedrooms for ideas. I am redoing my bedroom for the first time in over 15 years. This is my take-away...keep it simple and use metal cottagy headboards, mirrors on the wall and non matching nightstands for beds side tables....chalk painted. Yes, that's the perfect formula for my master makeover. I have a overstock.com metal frame bed on order (not the same as your recent metal bed purchase of course) sheets and mattress pads. I am refinishing the wood tops of two vintage dessers and painting the bottom half of the dressers. I am moving an oval sewing table (w/a flip open top) for my husband nightstand and I am using a small three drawer dresser for mine. I bought a vintage oval mirror at a small shop for over his "nightstand" and the 1920's dresser I am painting has it's own "to die for" attached mirror. My color are green walls with black chalk painted pieces. Thanks for sharing your simple, feminine bedroom style. It is perfect for my tastes!

  6. Dear Kim,

I have blue bird pillow envy! Since you're asking about the plank wall covering, which I think looks great, it's probably bugging you every time you look at it, so should get rid of it. Have you ever thought about lowering your mirrors, frames, pictures etc. that you hang above your beds so they are closer to the top of the bed frame?

    1. I thought it might be hung in the right spot. I don't hang things high as that drives me nuts. Maybe it could go a tad lower.

  7. I always love seeing your lovely bedrooms and how you mix and match your bedding. I'd hang on to the shiplap wallpaper for a bit, but it's nice to know that it can be removed when you're ready. I adore those striped ruffled pillow shams with the buttons, I didn't know if you've given your source for those. I always love seeing how you use quilts in your bedding mixes. Have a wonderful Easter.

  11. I think there are so many changes we just can't keep up! We don't even wonder anymore LOL. Our baby turned 11 but you would never guess it. She had ACL surgery in December - running and jumping did it! Hope your mom is feeling better and will get to go home soon. Will she need help at home? I am hitting the road soon for some more plants (already bought ferns) and groceries for Easter dinner. Hope to wash all the outdoor furniture tomorrow and add the cushions and pillows, etc. Spring has sprung and I just want to stay outside!!

  12. I love that piece over the bed Kim! Can you tell me where you purchased your lamps and how tall they are? Hope your mother is improving and feels better soon. Also, I hope Bailey gets a good report! Happy Easter

  13. I love the wall paper in the room . I would leave it. You have the prettiest collection of pillows than anyone I know! I love how you move them around from room to room. I guess your head must spin around in circles most of the time, thinking, move this here, move that there, no, that needs to stay there but I can move this over there . Does your mind ever get a rest? Just kidding! I hope you enjoy a wonderful Easter and that your Mother continues to improve.

  20. I have this pillow and got it from Pottery Barn, though I don't know if it's still available as I bought over a year ago. You might check eBay to see if they have it listed there.
