Spring Refresh in the Great Room

4.17.2017

I have been slowly transitioning my home decor for spring by removing the darker heavy fabrics and accessories that say winter and replacing them with lighter fabrics and colors for the warmer season. With just a few updates the great room has been refreshed for spring.

I swapped the plaid club chair that was in the corner with the lighter French style chair. They just simply swapped spots from the great room to the master and vice versa. When the colors work in each room this can be easily done for an easy fresh look.

I saw this pillow on Pottery Barn's site and ordered it hoping it would go with this chair and it's perfect.

I replaced the urn that held magazines with this nice mahogany magazine holder I have had for years.

I ordered these pretty floral pillows in a P. Kaufmann fabric first from this etsy shop. I wanted to do blues, browns and sage greens in here and this pattern called Finders Keepers in French blue is perfect. I already owned the tan linen pillows from Pottery Barn.

Green hydrangeas tucked in a Chinese ginger jar add spring to the coffee table.

Greenery and antlers have been replaced with beads in the tian bowl.

The logs were removed from the fireplace and placed in the vintage crock. I stuck the urn back in the fireplace and filled it with with moss balls and lavender.

Not much has changed on the shelves. I did swap the dog painting with the one in the master since there are a pair of these signed and numbered paintings that I won at auction in France.

Only the painting changed on the sideboard.

I love changing out what is in this old concrete urn. For now it is my ivy plant that moves around the house.

I hope y'all had a fabulous Easter weekend and I hope we all have a fabulous week!

Wishing my son a very happy 38th birthday today 😊

  4. It's nice to see your home. We are getting ready to sell & all I hear is declutter. I'm putting stuff away & not decorating.

    1. Yes, to sell you are supposed to remove most of your stuff so others can picture the home with their things in it. I'm glad we aren't selling.

  6. Kim, love your refresh as usual. You have such a great decorating eye. I notice all your decorating books, and I have pretty much the same ones. I was wondering because we have the same style...if you have a favorite book you refer to over and over? I am waiting on One Man's Folly in the mail now, he reminds me of Charles Faudree. A genius, but too frilly for me. But you can learn from all of them. Any favorite go to book?

  10. I love that concrete urn, but I think something a little shorter and square would look better with your lamps. Just a thought! The new pillows look great - I have some of that fabric (it has a touch of aqua/turquoise that is my main accent color), but I have not made pillows yet.
