Time to Spruce Up The Deck

4.08.2017

Yay, it's the weekend and spring is in the air even though we had quite the roller coaster weather week. We had warm sunny days, stormy days, and a couple of chilly and extremely windy days, but I think we are back to some warmer spring weather now. That means it's time to get outside and that means sprucing the deck up again. I haven't even begun to do that. The cushions are all stored away and the furniture frames have been covered with a tarp and I'm tired of looking out at that.
I can't wait to sit outside again and especially at night under the string lights.

This is how the deck looked two years ago after lots of work and building a pergola. This year I will purchase some new pillows for an easy new look.

Enjoy the weekend and be sure to check out more inspiration below including my breakfast room makeover if you missed it.

  1. Typical spring weather. We've had a couple of days of "dogwood winter" this week but supposed to be in the 70s all through next week. It's a gorgeous morning and we'll be doing more in the yard. Mowing has begun, planting and sprucing up the outside areas. My favorite time of year! Enjoy the day and spend some time outside!!

    1. I have to go visit my mom, pick up her laundry and do her laundry and take it back. I was outside all day last Saturday working in the yard. Time to mow again in a couple of days. Too wet now,

    2. It is so hard when we reach the age that our parents need help. I lost my mom 7 years ago to pancreatic cancer. At the same time, my grandmother was inching closer to assisted living for alzheimers and my dad ended up having hip replacement! My sister and I, with the help of some wonderful caregivers, took care of them, and we both had full time jobs at that time. I will be forever thankful we could keep mom at home and be with her till the end. It was an honor to care for her. Be glad you and your sister are there near your mom. Treasure your time with her. I wish her a speedy recovery.

    3. So sorry for your loss. Yes, it is hard and I knew she would need help from us at some time. I wish she could go home, but they won't let her until she can walk with the walker. It hurts her so badly now, but she will get stronger each day. She's just so depressed and I try to go almost daily to be with her and my sister goes a couple of times a week as she lives further away and her dog is ill.
