What I'm Loving.....metal beds

5.12.2017

I have always had a thing for metal or iron beds. There is just something about them that I gravitate towards. They can be very simple or ornate, brass or painted. They can work in a traditional home or a farm house. They're perfect for an adult's room or a child's room They are just so darn versatile. I have an iron bed in both guest rooms and really would love one in the master, but I'll hold off on that for awhile. Enjoy some favorites I found while browsing the net.

How many of y'all are watching Home Town on HGTV?

Love the fun color of this one. Original article at My Domaine.

Aiken House and Gardens perfectly imperfect.

My favorite new metal bed.

This iron bed I found on overstock was my first metal bed purchase and perfect for this farmhouse style guest bedroom.

Looking forward to getting back upstairs again to fluff the guestrooms. Haven't been up there in weeks. I need to send the mister up there to clean toilets. 😏

Wishing y'all a fabulous weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

  1. Love your metal beds and you always dress them so beautifully! Happy Friday!! Thoughts and prayers are still with you and your mom for a quick recovery!! I bet you have decorated your scooter by now with a cute pillow and maybe a throw!

  2. I just bought a metal bed for my master bedroom. (For once I am on the curve or on top of it! LOL.) I bought the Lacey Round Curved Double Top Arches in King Size from overstock.com. This is a bronze/black painted bed with some great vintage style. This metal bed frame is the centerpiece of our bedroom and sets the tone for an old-fashioned feminine theme. I am currently painting a 1920's dresser with a "to die for mirror" that will contribute to the theme as well. I am enjoying this vintage looking bed and expect to enjoy it for many years to come.

  4. Your iron beds are dressed so beautifully and I enjoyed seeing the inspiration pics as well. I used to have an antique iron bed but it got a little rickety and needed some repair. So I sold it and bought a real sturdy one to replace it.

  6. How funny that this was your post today. I just purchased the sweetest old iron bed at an antique mall with a painted cameo on the headboard and footboard for a song. Your love for iron beds is shared by many!

  8. We have an iron bed with a canopy--we have gauzy curtains hanging. The visual lightness of the frame is good in a small space (but a canopy needs plenty of room).

  9. I've had a couple of metal beds over the years, one vintage and one new. While they may look delicate they really stand up to abuse! Thanks for sharing such great ideas!

  12. We're thinking of moving up a mattress size and will need a new bed. Love the black iron, but hate to give up my pencil post bed we have now. And I LOVE Home Town. Ben and Erin are so gosh darn cute!!

  13. Love your home!! I sold my metal bed when I sold my last home and have regretted it ever since!!

I am originally from MS and have watched Home Town a few times and am amazed at what can be done to these old and mostly decrepit looking homes.
