White and Bright Summer Guest Bedroom

6.29.2017

As I showed y'all a few days ago in the other guest bedroom I am loving whites in the bedrooms and of course some pops of blue make the whites even better. Not a lot has changed in this room since sharing the spring look, but a change of pillows, flipping the quilt at the foot of the bed over to the striped side from the toile side and some new white curtains for a white and bright summer guest bedroom.

The white euro shams, linen ruffled shams, blue and white patterned shams and the long lumbar pillow add layers and texture to the summer bed.

It's the little details that make the difference.

I had put off buying this pretty white pillow for a couple of years, but decided to just go ahead and get it. It's so pretty and feminine.

I ordered these pillow shams months ago and can't ever remember what shop they came from. 😕
I just love the indigo and white and these are a hand blocked print and oh so soft.

A pineapple finial adds a bit of a summer look and pineapples are a symbol for welcome.

I replaced the blue gingham curtains with these textured white ones I found on sale from Pottery Barn. I will probably replace the rod, too if they ever go on sale.

Fresh clipped hydrangeas from my bush added in an ironstone pitcher.

Collected shells fill an ironstone vegetable serving dish on the table next to the bed.

I am contemplating painting this again so I can have more freedom with accent colors in here.
Not sure I want to tackle it though.

This room is refreshed and ready for summer guests.

See last year's summer guest bedroom here. Lots of changes since then.

  4. I'm swooning over that embroidered pillow! Can you still say swoon? It's truly how I feel. Regarding painting the cabinet to make it go with more: Maybe you should just paint out the blue on the front panels with the same black paint treatment as the casement?

  6. You dress all your beds so beautifully...and your pillows are just gorgeous! They are such statements on a white bed. Just a thought..if you don't want to tackle totally painting the armoire, add a little antique white/cream very lightly dry bushed over the blue...

  13. Love the summer guest room it has a welcoming spirit! Your hydrangeas are prize winners....you sure would not want to see mine, for some reason I have one bush and it only grows mini flowers. The beautiful oil paintings are especially catching my eye. Lisa@ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air

  20. Hey Kim, love it all! Can you tell me about your wall color and trim please? In some of the pics it looks to be the same, and in others, the wall looks a little darker than the trim. I toured a model home the other day and noticed they had everything painted the same color, wall and trim, which isn't anything I've ever done but I liked it.
    Thanks!

    1. The way the light hits the walls it what makes it look lighter in some. The wall color is French Canvas and the trim is Chantilly Lace. Both by Benjamin Moore.
