Choosing the Pretties for the Master Bathroom

7.20.2017

Oh, my head has been spinning trying to choose the pretties for the master bathroom remodel. We were supposed to begin this last April, but that was put on hold after my mom's accident and then me breaking my foot. I just couldn't wrap my head around a big project like this at that time. Well, now mom is well and my foot is better, even though I may need physical therapy to learn how to walk without limping, so this big job is finally underway and my house is a mess.  From the choices I have made the bathroom will be traditional with a little bit of glam tossed in. Of course it has to look much worse before it gets better and we are already at the worse part. The demo was done last week and now the puzzle will slowly be put together. I'm sharing some of the things I am either thinking about getting or have already made my mind up on. I put some of the items together to show you how they will work together. I shared some of the chandeliers in the running last week and of course most of y'all have expensive taste and chose the Visual Comfort one. 😉

The English bronze sconces are a go. I will put a single sconce on the left side of my mirror, on the right side of his mirror and the double one between the two mirrors over the make up vanity. The mirror is also the one I chose unless I change my mind again. I need to order it before I do. As I shared last week I'm trying to decide on a chandelier to go in the center of the bathroom instead of over the tub.

Here is a better look at the mirror. It's by Uttermost and I hope it looks nice in person. Let me tell you I changed my mind over and over. I think this one will be perfect. A little rustic and a little glam with the gold leaf details.

This one shows the chosen bathroom faucets in polished nickel.

Ignore the chandy because I scratched that one off the list. The decorative tile color is so off from the website photo I grabbed. It is way more taupe in fact it's called taupe. Another photo of it is below that I took.

These things have all been purchased. The floor is a porcelain tile and will be laid in the herringbone pattern even though the mister isn't sure about that pattern, but I am very sure and mama is getting this bathroom instead of downsizing to a smaller home.

The subway tile is for the shower walls and is lighter in color than what it looks like here. The mosaic tile will be the shower floor and a decorative panel where the shower head and handles will go. The mosaic will be trimmed with the trim pieces. The niche for the shampoos and soaps might be in the mosaic pattern, too, but I'm still thinking on that one.

I still have more choices to make like the wall and cabinet colors and cabinet hardware. I'm pretty sure the walls will be either white dove by Benjamin Moore or a very pale gray. We will need to choose the counter top and I know I'm leaning towards a white quartz, but I haven't even begun to look at that yet.

Mr. Savvy did the wiring for the new lights last weekend and the plumber is coming today to do the rough in since many things are moving.
Then the drywall and tile will be next.

It's coming along and of course not quick enough for me.

  5. I love all of your choices. We purchased mirrors the same style of yours for our new house - the builder grade solid mirror that was offered we didn't want. Only our mirrors are just silver without the pretty guilding.

  6. I have two of the mirrors you're considering in my bath and love them. They add a nice touch of glam and look more expensive than they cost.

    1. Lori, the tub is from signaturehardware.com. They have fabulous prices and very quick shipping. I ordered that on a Sunday and it was delivered that Wednesday. I also purchased the faucets from them as they are very reasonably priced and are solid brass. No plastic parts.
