Layers of White Summer Bedding in the Master Bedroom

7.17.2017

Oh, summertime. Hot hot summertime. With white bedding at least I can think cool. Well, that's what I'll tell myself. Today I'm sharing the bed in the master that I have had dressed in layers of white since Spring.

When using all whites it is good to use different textures and patterns to keep it from becoming sterile. I have several textures here from the pattern on the quilt, another pattern on the euro shams and the long ruffles on the linen shams.

A touch of color in soft shades of blue and sage green are added with this bolster cover I purchased from the Pine Cone Hill outlet. The colors go so well with the green on the chest next to the bed and my dresser and the blue of the chair and the old shutter leaning against the wall.

I also purchased a new bed skirt. I loved the other one I had which was made from raw silk, but it had a loose weave and that loose weave had several large holes develop on the other side of the bed.

There is more texture with this white cotton duvet cover from Pottery Barn.

Fresh cut hydrangeas from the one bush that is still blooming. I think it is about finished for this year.

I did a very light white wash on the wood frame above the bed so it would stand out a bit more against the brown wall. This frame started in this bedroom and had been in the guest bedrooms and now back to it's original location.

The bed still looks like this, but my oh my the room is a mess from the bathroom renovation. Just picture paper taped on the floor and lots of tools, dust, and grit. Grrrr!

Have an awesome week!

  1. I really like that bolster pillow. I'll have to look into those. Sometimes I have a large (long) lumbar pillow but I like the look of that bolster. I always have cream/ivory bedding, added coverlets/duvets, shams, etc. for color. Hot here too but the house is nice and cool. Did you get your ac fixed?

    1. Yes, it is fixed, but it tried to go out again yesterday. We have a geothermal system and we may need a new motor.

  3. It looks so refreshing Kim. Having been through a partial bath renovation, I feel your pain. That dust is something awful. Just a word of caution. I know it's hot, but that dust gets sucked into the A/C ducts super fast. You don't want it all over the entire house. I would assume they have closed of the vents in the immediate area while working.

  14. I like your new dust ruffle. I have an antique brass and iron bed and it is rather hi so I need a longer dust ruffle....where did you get this one? I also liked the loose weave one but thanks for the update on how it held up.

  15. I love that duvet, Kim. It is the perfect choice for that soft-feeling room. Love it AND I love the bed skirt. The mini-pleat on the bottom is just enough to make it special. Have a great weekend- xo Diana
