The Antique Chest Finds a Home

8.24.2017

After fluffing the dining room I got in the mood to make some more changes and this time it was in the great room. I showed y'all some of the heirlooms I brought home from my dad's recently and I decided the best spot for the antique chest was in here in place of the painted sideboard. There was just no other place to use it and I'm ready for a change The sideboard had been there for years. I actually rearranged the whole room, but I'll share that another time.

I love this chest in here. If you need a reminder of the old one you can see it in this post.

At first I flanked the chest with the brown chairs that were used by the sideboard, but it was just a lot of brown going on with the floor, the chest and the chairs so I brought these gray painted ladderback chairs down that I have saved to use for extra seating when we host the holidays. I am hosting Christmas eve this year so the extra chairs come in handy.

I love my French style basket back pack with the prettiest leather from Dreamy Whites Online shop. To add a bit of texture I just wrapped it over the chair back.

I put together a very traditional vignette on top.

I collect these old wooden boxes and the one on the bottom was my dad's.

I picked up this cute brass plate stand in a shop last year and placed one of my majolica plates on it.

Now, we can enjoy this heirloom everyday. It also adds more storage. 😉

Have a fabulous weekend!

  11. I love the chest there! You can really appreciate the beautiful wood. I am in love with your stack of boxes! I have a weakness for boxes and have many myself. I've actually had to tell myself to quit buying them as I have no where else to display them!
