Summer Blues in the Sun Room....summer colors tour

5.28.2018

Today I am so thrilled to be part of the summer colors blog tour hosted by Jennifer of Town and Country Living. Today is Memorial Day and the unofficial first day of summer so what a perfect time to talk about what the colors of summer are to us and how we incorporate it in our homes. There will be several friends' tours linked at the end of the post so be sure to check those out.

I have decorated my sunroom in summer blues. Blue is a cool color which is certainly needed during our hot summers. Just walking into this room cools me down.

If you read my Casual Spring Sunroom post then you will notice just a few updates. The first thing that might be an obvious update to you are the blue drapes. I had neutral ones hanging before, but I love this extra pop of color.

I also like different shades of blue for summer because it reminds me of water and all the swimming I did growing up. Y'all probably don't know this, but  many of my childhood years were spent living on the coast and I loved to swim. I was like a little fish swimming in a pool or in the ocean. We didn't have our on pool, but some of my friends did and we would spend hours swimming. My favorite time to swim was actually at night. I just loved seeing the lights on in the pool and the way it changed the color of the water.

Summers were also spent collecting shells on the beach and I like to spread those around the house.

I added this bucket as it reminds me of my little sand pails on the beach and making sand castles with it on the edge of the water where we could use the wet sand.

The striped pillows add a nautical flair.

Fresh clipped hydrangea blooms, from my exploding bush, fill an enamelware pitcher and I added a real clam shell and piece of coral to this basket on the coffee table.

A couple of new blue and white pillows have been added to the sofa.

I ordered these from Jenny Steffens and they are the hydrangea block print.

On the chest I filled a glass container with my vintage fishing floats that I bought on ebay a couple of years ago.

I hope you enjoyed my summer blues in the sunroom tour.

If you are new here thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you'll come back as I change things often.

Now, get comfy and check out more summer colors inspiration and follow along each day this week.

Love seeing your shells and glass and that amazing artwork of the shore bird, as I packed my summer things away last Fall (bad move) .... Always love seeing this room when you change it out for the seasons...beautiful! Have a most wonderful Holiday!
