Simple Summer Style in the Great Room

6.18.2018

I am really slow getting any summer styled rooms posted with everything that has been going on with my mom, but today I'm sharing how I have added simple summer style in the great room. It's basically the same thing I do each year bringing out my collected shells and coral and spreading them around. I have also changed up a couple of pillows from the what I used in my spring decor. These are all very simple changes that anyone can do for a new seasonal look.

For spring I had used some tan color pillows with the blue bird print pillows. I recently bought the blue checked pillows to add more of the blue I have been adding this year.

Here's a closer look.

On the shelves I added a piece of coral and/or shells here and there.

For fun I added some of my vintage sea glass colored bottles under a cloche.

I moved the orchid from the dining room to the coffee table and added a found shell.

The blue and white has been spread around the room. This is another chinoiserie jar I bought from Wisteria when it went on sale. I don't think they sell them anymore.

Summer officially begins on Thursday, but of course it has felt like summer for some time. At least the colors in here make it feel cooler and I need it to feel cooler as our air condition decided to quit working yesterday. 😒

You can see last year's look here.

My mom will be having heart cath surgery today.

I hope y'all have a great week!

Post Edit: Mom had no blockages, but still has to deal with congestive heart failure. Thanks so much for all your prayers!

  3. Oh no, when the AC quits that is a big problem with the heat and humidity. The summer great room is so pretty! Prayers for your mom!

  4. Oh no! Not the time for the AC to quit! I have a fear of that in both our home and our rental house. As for the heart cath test, my dad has had it a couple of times - most recently early this year (he had a pacemaker in January). This last time they were able to go through his wrist, instead of the groin, and it was so much easier on him. You don't have to lie flat for so long afterwards (which is really hard on him). Praying for good results for your mom!

    1. She has also had this done before several years ago. Her cardiologist told my brother a few weeks ago that she needs one, but would probably not survive it. Praying it goes well.
