Fun Colorful Summer Guest Bedroom

7.09.2018

I hope y'all had a good weekend. We had some fabulous fall like weather yesterday which was a welcome change from all the heat even if it was just for a day.

I love changing up the bedding seasonally in the bedrooms. It's like playing house for me and helps me get my mind off other things. I love letting my creativity flow when I can and if you have been following me for awhile then you know I can flip from color to neutral and back to color in the wink of an eye. I love neutral, but I also thrive on color so this summer I have created this fun colorful summer guest bedroom.

As you might know I love mixing patterns. I already had the duvet and shams and the only new additions are the green gingham pillows that I bought majorly cheap on final sale at Pottery Barn.

For fun I filled my vintage orchard picking bucket with a variety of real and faux flowers that pick up the greens in the bedding and picture over the bed.

Blue gingham, green gingham and a floral paisley pattern all mixed together.

I hope you enjoyed the fun colorful summer guest bedroom.

Hope you have an awesome week!

  4. So beautiful and Summery...the green and blue pair so nice together. I agree keeping busy with projects does help keep the mind off things. I do wonder if you have ever used any mattress toppers in any of your guestrooms?

We have company coming next month and one of our guest bedrooms has a newer pillow-top mattress but the other has a older and firmer mattress. I have bought new linens and a new quilt in summery colors but feel the mattress might not be that comfortable. Because we don't use this guestroom hardly ever I didn't want to invest a lot but felt a new mattress topper might be a good solution. Just wondering if you had tried any particular brands?

    1. I do have memory foam toppers on both guest beds. We have cheaper firmer mattresses, too and the toppers really help. I got one years ago from Bed Bath and Beyond and the other probably form overstock.com
      Thanks

  16. Kim - this bedroom looks great. I appreciate you taking time to reply to comments made, I hope you realize how tremendously helpful that is. I located and purchased the lumbar pillow 'Be Our Guest' because you thoughtfully replied to someone's question!!

  17. Thank you for your blog posts. I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed and "down" about our home lately. Sometimes I have trouble getting a "vision" in my head. Your posts always make me feel like it's doable...I just need patience! I wish I had a book of all of your rooms over time that I could cuddle up with and peruse! Love, love, love your style and grace.
