Easy and Inexpensive DIY Art

1.07.2019

First let me say thank you for all the kind and understanding comments on my last post. I always say I have the best readers! So many of you have or are going through similar circumstances and told me how hard it is. So thank you for sharing your stories.

After taking down the Christmas decor I changed up things a bit and today I'm sharing with you how easy it was for me to create the art on the mantel. See, I'm already doing a post. I think the glorious sunshine has helped my mood. 😊

Easy and Inexpensive DIY Art

First let's back up and show you what the art looked like before. I had an oak leaf print which I love to use in the fall, but was wanting a different look at this time.

The oak leaf reproduction print and this new print came from the same Etsy shop and are quite inexpensive. The prints are available in different sizes. The frame is a cheap one from Hobby Lobby that I bought while fifty percent off several years ago. I also purchased a cheap mat at Hobby Lobby since the art is smaller than the frame plus I prefer the look of matted art.

When the new print arrived I just turned the frame over, took the back off, and removed the oak leaf print. I had the mat taped to the print so I carefully removed the scotch tape and then placed the new print on the mat making sure to center it and then taped it to the mat. I put the frame back together and voila a whole new look.

Next time you want new artwork try making your own.
 It's easy and inexpensive.

We have beautiful weather for a couple of days before the cold returns.
Have a beautiful week!

  1. I have done that with pages of bird prints from an Audubon book. Love your new print. Sunny here too.

  2. Not sure if my comment went through on your last post, but I just wanted to say I totally understand. I completely stepped away this past year due to family. My husband's cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgeries and then my mother's illness and passing were far more important. And, I also understand how those things can take a toll of the person caring for them. I am just now starting to feel a bit like my old self again. Take the time for you!
I love this idea. I have a few prints that I change out seasonally. If the frame allows I just place one print behind the other. Makes it so simple.

  7. Know that your blog has inspired me too. Your wall paint colors, I ran out and bought that color for my wall, your little gold tube that makes you want to put it on everything you see and every time I look at my hardwood floors I think of you because I use your cleaning solution, and I know there are other things I can't think of right now. Take care of yourself and spend time with your mother it's precious time.
