I hope everyone had a terrific weekend. We have been busy sanding and painting something for my future granddaughter's nursery and will have photos soon. In the meantime I started another little project that was quick and easy except for the thread coming out of my needle on the sewing machine over and over. Ugh!
I know I have shown you my master bedroom photos before here, but of course it was all cleaned up
and staged for the photos. Now I will show you something that resides in our room that I took out for
the photos. This is real life photography here.
This is where Miss Bailey sleeps. She loves her crate. Most terriers do love a little snuggly den type
space to rest in. We tried letting her sleep with us for a while, but I could not sleep good with her in the bed so back in her crate she went. Mom needs what sleep she can get. It is already interrupted by snoring.
I was putting a large towel over her crate and then I decided to use burlap to make a cover. I love the texture that burlap adds to a room.
I sewed all the edges under and then stenciled her initial on top.
I did this on the kitchen counter so I would have a nice hard surface to work on.
Used a dark brown stencil paint.
Voila, she has a monogrammed crate cover like any good southern dog should have.
Here it is in it's spot in our bedroom. I want to add a ruffle to the edges, too, but did not have time
to work on that. I probably will soon if I can make the ruffle.

Have a super week!
Y'all come back now,
Kim
Very cute. Boo would sleep on our bed every night if I let him but he wakes me up too often too, so I can't let him even in the room... if I do he's usually pawing at me to get up at like 2 or 4am! He sometimes goes in Kristen's room to sleep which she loves, but a lot of the time he just stays at the bottom of the stairs too.
ReplyDeleteKim this will be adorable and look fab in here! I like the idea of the ruffles on it. You just don't run out of good ideas do ya?
ReplyDeleteStealing this idea, thank you very much! My Lucy loves her crate too, and sleeps in it...I have nothing over it, but this looks cute! Thanks Kim, you are so clever:) Debbie
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - one I shall steal with the next dog we have. Our Rosie doesn't sleep on our bed, but in a perfectly lovely wing chair in the bedroom. The lap of luxury! I wish I'd used a crate for her.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! My 2 dogs sleep with us and they are not little like your Bailey. I have a Bailey too and the other one is Zoe. So hubby and I get to cuddle with them instead of each other. Sometimes I wish they would sleep elsewhere 'cause they shed so much!
ReplyDeleteNow Kim that's one spoil fur baby...Only in the south ha ha!! Oh what am I talking about I had a kid's couch for my 3 yorkies to sleep on ha ha!! Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteHow cute to burlap the crate! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute, Kim.
ReplyDeleteMolly's crate at the lake was sold at the garage sale last month. She rarely used it. The one she has here, is the one she uses the most. Hers is considerably larger than Miss Bailey's. She does sleep with us, but she likes her crate when she is upset about something. Like when we leave and she isn't invited along!;-)
It is official. Miss Bailey is a true Southerner :) Now Miss Mattie Gray will be jealous.

What a great idea, what a lucky dog! And of course every southern dog needs a monogrammed crate cover, ruffles and all. Miss Bailey deserves the very best!
ReplyDeleteKim, you could market this little covers!
Have a nice evening!
Nancy
This is so cute. What a creative idea. Now it looks so classy. Love it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteJust darling! The monogram simply makes it! What a lucky doggy to have such a pretty place to lay her head;)!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Cathy
Well, what a cute idea, Kim! I wish Baby Kitty would sleep in a crate! He gets me up at 6:00 am every day for his special food! Hope you are having a great weekend...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeletehow cute i knew Bailey was spoiled....my son has 2 boxers and they sleep with him and his gf and when we had a boxer she slept with us, btw my jordan weighed in at 100 plus lbs she was a solid girl! my son crates his 2 girls while they work , , but hates doing it ( he is like his mom) Jordan lasted 2 nights in a crate and never went back.
ReplyDeleteCute! Every dog deserves a posh crate =)
ReplyDeleteps I recently linked to your blog when I did a post about my corner china cabinet. Thanks for the inspiration!! I always love reading your blog!
Now that is cuteness!!! Sweet Bailey... what a pampered pup! Murphy slept with us for years and then when her back got bad, we built a ramp up to our bed for her. She didn't sleep with us much anymore since she would get so hot, but she climbed up the ramp and slept on the bed all the time while we were at work! Now the ramp doesn't fit in our room and she is in her bed in the corner. She doesn't go anywhere near a crate now after 2 trip across the ocean in it!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a much larger one in our bedroom for Piper our Springer Spaniel. He gets to sleep with us after he potties first thing in the morning. He loves that. Our Yorkie, however, gets to sleep all night with us. She snores louder than my hubby.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you are up to. Grandchildren are just the greatest.
What a grand idea and understated perfectly. Speaking of snoring; our Lucy is the worst offender so her crate is in the kitchen. I never thought of a cover.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! When we had a dog, she loved to sleep UNDER our bed!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
We all live in the real world...mine 2 share a crate and I have even been putting my inside cat in a crate at night...she thinks I am her mommie..push push she goes with her paws and I get no sleep either...but now I do! ;D
ReplyDeleteKim, what an adorable idea! That Miss Bailey is a lucky girl. And yes, every Southern girl needs a monogram on her crate cover. Cute!
ReplyDeleteClever! We have a small beagle...she sleeps at the foot of our bed. I put a throw at the bottom and she just curls up and rarely moves and in a King bed, there is room for all of us!
ReplyDeleteThat is so darn cute.
ReplyDeletehugs
Sissie
Very clever. It turned out great.
ReplyDeleteThat is just so cute! I know Miss Bailey will feel extra special!
ReplyDeleteLove it Kim! You know I love burlap too! The monogram is great!
ReplyDeleteGreat little project and everytime I visit I'd love to kiss that sweet little doggie...I love sleeping with my Zoe, she likes to snuggle!!!
ReplyDeleteThe burlap is the perfect fabric for this project!!! Have you seen the cute little dog beds made from old tables flipped upside down and "pimped" out!!!
Cute idea!! I know many out in blog land have to deal with pet crates, so know your idea is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Kim that is so cute for sweet Miss Bailey! I love the snazzy *B* and the burlap.
ReplyDeleteWell if you aren't something else with that burlap Kim! Well done. You must have the same rule I have in my house: "everything must be pretty." olive♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! We have two crates like that for my Bailey and Sophie...real life!
ReplyDeleteKim you are so funny!!!! I just love what you did for Miss Baileys bed!!! too cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that's the cutest thing, lol!!! What a pampered pooch she is! I love burlap too. I want to use some on a table, just not sure how yet.
ReplyDeleteLooks great kim!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative idea i love it!!
Bailey is one lucky girl having her own monogramed crate cover! I wouldn't expect anything less in the Savvy home.
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous! I love making jazzy things for my dogs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creativitie!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the letter!!!
well done!!!
have a verry nice day Yolanda
I'm laughing to myself...I thought my DD was crazy when she asked me to embroider the initials of her 2 black schnauzers on their dog bed, but I did it! Your stencil idea looks even easier, Kim. I must look for some of those letters.
ReplyDeleteLoved all your nifty thrifty treasures you found this week, especially that beautiful magazine rack. Great find!
Love this idea, and I am sure Bailey does too!
ReplyDeleteThat is just too cute Kim! What a lucky little doggie!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Such a great idea!!! And, you thought to do this while working on a nursery....amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And am now a follower of your blog - it's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh that sweet little Bailey! She deserves a nice "den"! When we had a small dog, she also slept in her kennel. No need for all of us to suffer and not sleep!! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteKim, This is an adorable and chic idea for your little Bailey!
ReplyDeleteIt makes even a dog crate look upscale!
YOu are so very clever! Our dog Scamp is a little Pom and he does sleep at my husbands feet. He know not to venture on my side of the bed, or in my tossing he might just get booted off the bed.
What a great idea! And monogrammed too!
Yvonne
ok Kim now i have to get a dog theis is adorable:)
ReplyDeleteCute Kim! Burlap is awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! You are just so clever!! This little burlap cover is adorable and I'm sure your little fuzzy face thanks you immensely for her fashionable cover!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Dog gone it...that is so cute! I am not showing it to my rat terrier. He would be so jealous.
ReplyDeleteKim, Every true Southern gal has to have something monogrammed. Miss Bailey is no exception. This is adorable.
ReplyDeletexo, Sherry
What a cute idea! You are always so creative...you should write a book! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat about good southern ferrets?
ReplyDeleteI will have to make a cover for my Claire and Sylvia's cage/condo!
That is a great crate idea! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a simple and cute solution. Nice job, Kim :).
ReplyDeleteWould you share where you purchased this stencil? Love it!!!!! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteVickie, I bought the stencils at Hobby Lobby last year.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love the monogram!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I used to have a little dachshund that slept in a kennel. I just used an old blanket for her cover. This is much cuter!
