I purchased some new Mikasa everyday dishes a few weeks ago when they were having their awesome sale. I ordered eight place settings of French Countryside and it came with the creamer, sugar bowl, and vegetable bowl.
I was so excited when they finally arrived.
I unloaded all the dishes to load in the dishwasher.
I could not believe it when I found three of these!
Three dinner plates were broken. I called Mikasa and the plates are on back order until
September 21st. So I am waiting.
Love the shape of these and my free creamer and sugar bowl.
This is the before of my cabinets. I had the glassware in this cabinet, but decided to make a
change and put my new dishes over here.
I decided to move the glasses over to this cabinet by the refrigerator and put the dishes in the cabinet that was my glassware cabinet for fifteen years.
Do you know how long it takes to go to the right cabinet now for the right glass or dish. After having the glasses over here and the dishes over there for that many years it is hard to break the habit of looking for a glass over here and a dish over in the other cabinet. I have literally driven Mr. Savvy crazy.
I like seeing my white dishes through the glass doors better than the glasses.
I just love my new mugs.
Now I don't dare get rid of Mr. Savvy's soup bowl.
These are on the top shelf for a pop of color and also because I have no where else to put them.
Made some changes up top, too.
Linking to Metamorphosis Monday over at Susan's.
Hope you have a great Labor Day!
Y'all come back now,
KIM
Kim, I do love your new dishes. Such a pretty pattern with the scalloped edges. The mugs are wonderful too. They really do look beautiful in the glass front cabinet. I do know what you mean about changing things around. It drives DH nuts too if I do that. Hope you are or did have fun in Vegas. Enjoy the rest of the holiday. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteGreat dishes!! Too bad about the broken ones!! I love the seed glass in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI just love your entire kitchen. The backsplash tile is wonderful and the colors that you have chosen are wonderful.
Your cabinet looks so good with the white dishes. I've been thinking about doing the same.
I know what you mean about moving things around. Mr. Sissie doesn't like that too much either! LOL
hugs

French Countryside is our everyday dishes. Several place settings were given to us as wedding gifts in 1983. I've added to them off and on over the years. My most recent purchase was the pasta bowl set. The serving bowl is huge and the individual bowls will be great for vegetables. I keep watch on the Mikasa sales.
ReplyDeleteYour dishes look so pretty in your cabinet. I love French Countryside dishes. I work in the "Home Dept" at Belk and we sell those. It is the most popular pattern that we sell. I bet your hubby will walk over to the cabinet many times to get a glass before he gets use to the new spot for them. lol
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful. I love your kitchen too! It is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSherry
Kim, love your new dishes. Can't beat having a set of white dishes. Sorry you received some damaged. That's disappointing to have to wait.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time in Vegas. We haven't been since 1985, so I now it is a different place now. Have fun. ~ Sarah
I love your new dishes! I'm dying for a set of white ones myself. Everything looks great. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those dishes!!! I have been looking for some new ones myself. I have my original set from when I got married 17 yrs ago. Only have 6 poor plates left!! It's Mikasa Garden Harvest. Good dishes. I also have a multi color rooster like in your last pic, but I am wanting a white one now like in your first pic!

ReplyDeleteNew dishes are always fun! Love your white ones in the glass fronted cabinet and hoping the replacements are on time.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. My mother has her dishes in her one glass cabinet. She screwed little hooks into the shelf and hangs her cups and they look great. Don't know if that would work for you.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog.
Gorgerous china Kim! I've drooled over this same pattern. The new arrangement looks great...I was laughing thinking how I could just hear my hubby having a fit if I changed the glasses and dishes around!
ReplyDeleteI love your tile backsplash too!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteI, too, love those dishes and have been eyeing them for a while. I just ordered them today. Just so others know - I got the 8 piece set for $135.99 plus tax. They are offering 20% off 1 item and then 15%off your total order. I can't wait to get them!
They look beautiful in your cabinet!
Betsy
That is almost the same deal I got. Over $900 originally for under $150.00!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks super in your cabinet. It will take you a long time to finally go for the right cabinet for your glasses...we are such creature of habits! Bummer you had three plates broke...they will of course get there sooner or later though.
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love your new dishes! It really sucks that 3 of them broke in transit though. I hate when something like that happens.
ReplyDeleteI have done that before with the re-arranging cabinets thing. It drives everyone nuts...including me...until everyone gets used to things being in a new place. I'll bet I have opened a door and stood there for a full minute..thinking...WHAT? What was I going to get? Yeah...it's crazy, isn't it?
Hope you are having fun in Vegas! When are your coming home? I am so glad that you are able to post even if you are in some strip club in Vegas! (closing my eyes so I don't see any of THOSE pictures)..Hugs, Diana
Ooooohhhh Kim! They are so fresh and pretty. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteKim, We DO have the same dishes! I remember you mentioning it when I did my kitchen post! Aren't they great? I love how they look in your glass front cabinet and I'm in need of a few more plates after 12 years so I'm going to be hopping over to buy some more very soon!

ReplyDeleteLove your new dishes - so neat!
ReplyDeleteI must ask...is your blue and white lamp on the countertop in the shape of a tea pot? It looks so cute :o)
The dishes look great in that cabinet even if you aren't used to the new placement. (Poor Mr. Savvy)
ReplyDeleteI love the seeded glass in the doors, very pretty.
I hope you will enjoy many yummy meals on your new plates.

I love your new dishes Kim and they look perfect in that cabinet.. I move things to different cabs too and it makes my DH and DD nutz lol..

Hi Kim, Love the new dishes. With white you can mix and match so many pieces for different looks. They look great in your cabinet and the seeded glass is wonderful. I don't know that I have seen your kitchen before. The backsplash, granite, creamy upper cabinets and the arch are all wonderful. Please show us more.
ReplyDeletexo, Sherry
I love that pattern. I have some of those same dishes that I got at a yard sale. I only have a few pieces, but wish I had more. The look great in your gorgeous kitchen!
ReplyDeleteMuch, much better! I know your still in Vegas, you sneak. Creating posts before you leave town!
ReplyDeleteThe dishes do show up better behind the glass doors. What a lovely pattern that will be so versatile when setting a "special" table.
ReplyDeleteLovin the new dishes and the cabinet with the seeded glass is the perfect place to display them. Keep moving things around.... it'll keep Mr. Savvy on his toes!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Does your yellow chicken need a new home?? love it.
Hi Kim! Oh, I love your new dishes and I'm so sorry you had 3 broken plates! The shapes are so pretty and the sugar and creamer look so pretty on the platter!
ReplyDeleteI adore your pretty kitchen and your new dishes do look wonderful in your glass front cabinets! I know, old habits die hard! My fridge doors had been on the wrong side for 14 years and just a month ago I had them changed. I kept grabbing the old side forever!
Oh, I'm glad to know you can set hot pot on the granite. I've never had granite before. Great minds? :) I wish I had just a little bit of your great decorating mind! :)
Have a wonderful Labor Day!
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
I love this pattern too, and they look great in your cabinet! I have done some rearranging and it is hard to remember where things are. Can't wait to see a table! I know it will be fabulous as always!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Kim! I recently did the same thing when I got new dishes. Your kitchen looks great and I love the colorful rooster!
ReplyDeleteThose are such pretty dishes! Love the shape of the cream and sugar bowl. Changes are so hard...I do that when I change cabinets.
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful, that is why I picked them when my Dad asked me to get him some new dishes (the girlfriend took them with her) TWIN!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have that rooster though and I am coveting him. Don't you just love looking at that beautiful living room from your beautiful kitchen..It's all so pretty
I love your new dishes~ I know they'll be beautiful in your dining room, too!
ReplyDeleteI love your dishes, and they're making me think I should ask my mother for her old white ironstone. When you were in Vegas did you get to Sur le Table? I love that shop!
ReplyDeleteYes, the lamp is in the shape of a teapot. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I have shown the kitchen before. You may have been out of town. It is on my sidebar. Just click on the pic.
ReplyDeleteKim I really love the dishes in the cupboard and I so know that habit of going to the wrong place. I redid our cupboards 6 months ago and I still grab a mug instead of a glass!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the tile in your kitchen backsplash, and the color of the cabinets, top and bottom.
ReplyDeleteGreat look!! Sorry about the broken dishes and even sorrier that they're on back-order!! Stuff like that drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks wonderful!
Thanks for sharing,
gabriele
They look great! I've been wanting some new everyday dishes for a while now. I think we've been using the same ones since 1996! I still like them but I am tried of them. Maybe all white like you would be the way to go? They will match with everything else.
ReplyDeleteLooks great with the dishes. I struggled between Mikasa French Countryside and Italian one when choosing my everyday dishes. I went with the Italian pattern (can't remember the exact name) and I wish I had gone with yours!
ReplyDeleteOh, I want some now too, Kim! They're beautiful. Sorry some were broken. Didn't your heart just fall when you found those? Hate that. I know about the mister not being able to find things because they get moved. Really tries their patience, doesn't it? I want glass doors now.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Yum! French Countryside right? That is my favorite Mikasa pattern and it looks so lovely in your cabinet!
ReplyDeleteDena
Loving the new dishware Kim! It looks great in that cabinet and yes when we get that crazy hare to change up what is normal to us it does drive the hubbys batty!

ReplyDeleteKristi
Oh I am so sorry about your dishes. :(
ReplyDeleteBut your cabinet is an amazing transformation~ well done!
Ahh-That is a shame the plates were broken -the replacements will be at your door before you know it --Time sure does fly. --
ReplyDeleteHaving the plates in the seperate cabinet does "showcase " them.
Wondering if you could share your homes paint colors -I've tried searching other posts and I was not able to find -esp love your kitchen and dining room yellows
Thanks so much -I check your blog daily and I am never disappointmed -your blog is just so soothing
Glad to know my husband isn't the only one who has his special soup bowl. He also has a special soup spoon that I keep losing. Too bad about the broken plates.
ReplyDeleteThey are simple yet elegant and match your style. I can agree with Mr. Savvy as I moved the coffee here recently and am so confused. hugs♥olive
ReplyDeleteI see someone loves glasses as much as me.... ;) Love the green ones!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Zaira xx
Love to get new dishes and I recently did this too. I had had the Mikasa English Countryside for about fifteen years and they were beginning to checker. This time I went with the Mikasa Italian Countryside. This time it didn't come with the little fruit bowls though so I kept my old one - which are still in great shape because I don't use them as often - and they mix so well with the new pattern. I like that mix and match look. The old serving pieces blend well too. Great minds just must think alike. :)
ReplyDeletePam
Hate when that happens with plates. It's not uncommon when ordering large numbers. Sometimes if they don't place a stiff piece of cardboard between every two plates, the plates can shift into each other. They usually break plates in the center of the stack...sometimes just the weight of the plates can break the ones on the inside. I've had it happen a couple of times. Glad that you'll get the replacements. They are wonderful. I like the look of them in your glass fronted cabinet, too. Thank you for sharing your new goodies. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! I am back. Finally have some internet service and I am going to be doing a lot of reading. I love the white dishes too. I love your bottom cabinets more:) Hope you have been well.
ReplyDeleteGreat new china! Simple and classic.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will be a joy for you to use.
Please stop by if you have time. We'll have a great teen bedroom giveaway starting Friday. -- Jane F.
Pretty dishes that you can mix and match with others too. Don't you just hate receiving something broken? I do all the time. I love your glass cabinets, Kim and you did a good job with the display...Christine

ReplyDeleteThese look great and add just the perfect pop of color to your glass front cabinet. The way you have accessorized the top looks great. You certainly have a way with color and decorating. I love your house!

ReplyDeleteKim~ YOur new display is beautiful. Don't you love to change things up? I do!
ReplyDeleteBoo hoo about your plates! But thank goodness they are to be replaced.
Your cabinet is gorgeous! I love the bubbled glass and the beautiful finish of it. And now with all those upscale and creamy dishes inside it is a real show stopper!
Your home is exquisite!
Yvonne
I know what you mean about driving someone crazy when things get rearranged! Usually it is ME! We are creatures of habit, and I keep going back to where things originally were kept even when they've been moved for months! LOL
ReplyDeleteYour white dishes are nice- with their pretty little edge. And the pops of color add to the cupboard. You can never have enough white. I own 3 sets. Sheesh...
Looks great Kim!! I love the new dishes and they look fab in the cabinet. Love the changes!
ReplyDeleteYour new dishes are beautiful! They look great in your newly arranged cabinet too! Sorry about the broken pieces...hope the new ones arrive soon :o)

Very pretty dishes Kim! I really like those. I am hoping to get some new dishs this Christmas. I have some I picked out while at the beach this year and already got started on some of the coordinating pieces. I haven't shown them yet as I want to wait to blog about it after getting my set going more. I am sorry to hear that 3 of them came broken, what a bummer! I hope you get the new ones soon. Your cabinet looks great! Love how you rearranged everything. I know what you mean about walking too, I started back last week and it really feels good!
