I don't know why I put this project off for so long. After I get an idea in my head and then finally do it I always say to myself why didn't I do this sooner. Do you do that, too? I know you do.
I wasn't real sure what color I wanted to use, but am quite pleased at what I came up with.
This is the before. Just a plain pine table.
Here she is with her new color. It is a pretty greenish blue called silver mist by Sherwin Williams. I already had this paint sample since I had used this on my lamps Here.
Of course I couldn't leave it like that. I had to distress it and glaze it.
Just look at that old worn look.
Of course I had to shine her up, too.
Just look at that shine!
Then I had to put her accessories back on.
I sure couldn't leave her nekkid. Now the table color has more of a country French color.
I love how the new color has made the color in these flowers come out. I didn't even realize they were a blue tint.
This shows some more of the sanding and glazing I did.
Here she is at night with just the glow from the lamps.

I will give a little tutorial of how I refinish furniture like this soon.
Hi Kim! Oh I absolutely love this! After all of those opinions that were shared, you went with what your gut told you and it is, of course, absolutely perfect! I look forward to the tutorial because I may just try this one of these days!
ReplyDeleteVanessa
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteWow! Kim this is gorgeous in it's new color. Lovely and elegant. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing what big change a small change will make--like seeing your lamps in a new way ... and more!
ReplyDeleteIt looks oh la la Kim! Great job! Can you tell me what you used to "shine" it up?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
I love the way it turned out...and the wicker basket below is wonderful! Just what I love in a room! Your decorations are so pretty for the Fall! ♥
ReplyDeleteKim, your new table looks FaBuLoUs!!! I love the distressed look, just lovely! Can I bottle your energy? I would love to know how you find the time to do so many WONDERFUL things to your home, amazing!
ReplyDeleteXO ~Liz
I love what you did with the table! That color is perfect
ReplyDeletePenny, I use minwax finishing paste wax and elbow grease.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love your home. If you ever want to house swap - I live near Lake Tahoe...... Of course, you would have to decorate my home while I was away. Ha!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. That sounds very tempting. Never been and I hear it is quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Kim. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteOoooooohh, I LIKE it!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
Whew Kim, I can't keep up with you girlfriend...between projects and posts, no wonder my butt is growing in size. Well I love the way this turned out. I remember thinking initial to leave it as is...but now after seeing it, I love how it turned out...it really goes well with the rest of your pieces and style, it just updated it.
ReplyDeleteHow prety -I would not have thought to pair this color with the red sofa. -Okay the big question before the tutorial is what color glaze did you use and then what did you apply to get the shine ?
ReplyDeleteReally updates the table! Love the distressing too!
ReplyDeleteJody
You did a wonderful job! I love it.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Kim,
ReplyDeleteI need to come and take personal lessons from you. I honestly think that you paint a table (and other things)better than anyone I know.
Do you buff it with Mimwax? ANd what glaze do you use?
I just got a beautiful glaze, sorta golden and transparent, from Lowes.
I am painting my sofa table since I got new furniture. It is a golden oak, but has nice lines. If I could do half the job that you did I would be thrilled!!!!
Your table is just lovely, as is all of your decor!
I think I could just move into your home and be so happy! YOu have stunning stlye!
Yvonne
Hi Kim, when you first mentioned painting your pine table awhile back I thought...oh why it looks so pretty! But I LOVE the way it turned out! I love the color and the distressing, and how pretty it looks all decked out for fall!
ReplyDeleteGreat job as always!
Kat :)
Gorgeous makeover Kim. I love that paint color.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, you are too kind. For those who have asked. I use Valspar glaze in mocha from Lowe's. I use minwax finishing paste wax in natural or clear(not sure what it says). They also make the wax in colors. I will probably post a tutorial tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWOW.. this is so beautiful... you should open a little gallery...and call it Savy Southern Style. And.. your "brand".. on all your pieces? -sSs-
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, your sofa table looks fabulous! What a fun change ... you are so talented! I may be coming to you for advice when/IF I paint the buffet table in the kitchen! LOL. And, yes(!), there are so many projects I've done where I say to myself "why I didn't do this before?"
ReplyDeleteYUM! nuff said.....
ReplyDeleteYour table looks fabulous. Pretty color and your have distressed it perectly. Your vignette is just stunning. You really do have such lovely things. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kim! You really do a wonderful job on the distressing and finishing! Looking forward to that tutorial!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks beautiful. I love the colour you chose. I find it so difficult picking just the right colour, but you did a fantastic job! I've been working on 3 pieces of furniture to refinish/paint, but it's taking me forever!!!!!! Guess it is a bit tricky to find the time with a 3 and 6 year old =)
ReplyDeleteLove the silver mist! Good choice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation! I love everything you did! From the choice of color to the distressing and the shine on it! It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSandra
Beautiful Kim, it actually draws my eye to the fireplace more as well. I love it,as always:) Thanks for the suggestion on the logs! I will do that after Halloween, and take a pic for you!

ReplyDeleteSoooooo pretty! It makes all of your treasures just pop right out! Who knew? I wish I was as brave as you when it comes to painting things up...if I keep reading your blog, maybe someday I will take the plunge! Thanks for sharing your newfound talents in the paint world!

Lou Cinda :)
Love it. You are really good at this technique. It does look great with the lamps!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of this Kim. What a great color!
ReplyDeleteKim- That turned out to be an absolutely fabulous piece. It was pretty before but I LOVE it this way. You did a great job on it and you are right-it picks up that silverish-bluish tint in your vase. I would be interested to know how you got the sheen (polished look) on the finished piece. A tutorial would be wonderful if you have the time to do it! Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteTHat is really fantastic. Kim, you are really getting very good at this painting, glazing, distressing thing. You need to start selling pieces girl! Tell Karen you are coming to Charleston first. It is a lot closer than Lake Tahoe!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Kim!! Love this blue grey french colour. I want to paint my hutch this colour.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Kim. I have a pine table very similar this is great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty color. Love that shine. How does paste wax hold up compared to polyurethane? I've never tried it.
ReplyDeleteGolly-Pop! You are so awesomely talented! I so wish I had your gumption!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference! Are you giving lessons? It looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteI had to jump back and forth, looking at the Before and the After. The After is so dramatic, it's almost impossible to believe that the only thing that changed was the color of the table. It's PERFECT!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I wish I had your patience - talent - eye......for how to make something look this good.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh so pretty....love the new color!!! The lamps really do pop now! Gorgeous!
ReplyDelete~Des
Hi Kim...what a differance the paint makes. SO much nicer then the pine...it makes everything just pop with color...it appears to match the lamp shades and I love that big basket underneath...You did a great job.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI love the color you chose. I used a very similar one on my GW pine coffee table. But, I didn't distress or glaze it, and that looks fantastic! You must be very careful and patient, your pieces always look so professional when you finish them!
Great job.

ReplyDeleteKim, great job on the table. I am becoming a huge fan of paint these days and have several projects in mind. I can identify with "having it in my head" and just not getting it done! Linda
ReplyDeleteI adore that color. And the distressing and glazing are very pretty. You REALLY should start doing this as a business. You could buy pieces off Craigslist and then sell them at a boutique type store!
ReplyDeleteYou have proven once again you are the master at painting and distressing furniture. I love this table! So perfect! Oh if I only had your talent and patience! Excellent job!
ReplyDeleteI do prefer the change. You did a wonderful job on that table and it looks gorgeous all decked out for fall.
