I have been so busy painting this and that lately that it has taken me a while to get my mantel done for the autumn season. I am loving this autumn weather we are having. Our weather can so quickly change from hot to much colder in the blink of an eye. I love it though because it really causes me to want to change things up and dress things up.
I kept the large bulky candlesticks that have been there all summer and just added in some seasonal foliage, birds and burlap for texture.
Took some of my scrap burlap and wrapped it around these little potted urns that I already had and
tied some twine around them.
Added my pumpkins to the top of the candle holders.
Found these wooden pheasants at Hobby Lobby.
I bought these on two different visits. I purchased the one looking up first and paid full price because I didn't see another one and liked it. Then last week I found the one leaning down and got it half price.

Thanks so much for all your comments on my kitchen cabinet redo. Y'all are too kind.
Here is a sneak peek of something I have been working on all weekend.
Y'all come back now,
This is a gorgeous post, Kim. I'll have to remember the burlap idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a table top class for All About Home, this week. Hope to get some photos. I'm sure it will be fun.
Love the pheasants. It looks so pretty! I just finished working on a bedskirt that has pheasants in the fabric. These would work wonderful for accessories! Might go looking at Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Hey girl friend I love your new mantle look...are those the same pheasants that Chari at Happy to Design got...Love the burlap around the pots...you always do everything so beautiful my friend...Thanks for sharing...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteThose pheasants are beyond awesome! Your mantle looks so rich and elegant.
ReplyDeleteKim you have put together a very nice mantelscape. My fav is the burlap and twine on the urns, and i love the quails...not too much foliage which I think brings the other things to life. It looks very autumnal and can go right through Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLove the ghost pumkins on the candle sticks Kim.
ReplyDeleteKim, what do you have in store for us? Inquiring minds want to know...lol! You are so busy, how do you find the time to decorate and do these side projects?
ReplyDeleteYour mantle is so elegant. Those pheasants are so pretty. Hobby Lobby has amazing things, don't they? You get an A+++++++ on your mantle, just lovely! ~Liz
I found the very same pheasants this weekend at HL. I picked each of them up and the feathers on each had been broken off. Yours look really nice.
ReplyDeleteSherry

ReplyDeleteHey Kim! Oh my goodness I have the same exact potted urns with the orangey pears in them! Well, actually I only have one of them but still...couldn't believe it when I saw yours! Great taste! :-) I love your mantel all dressed for fall and can't wait to see what you are up to!

ReplyDeleteYour mantel is so pretty! I love the chunky candlesticks. Can't wait to see what you do next!!

Mindy
Love your mantel. Those pheasants are the perfect touch. Don't you just love Hobby Lobby? I never ever pay full price for anything there. If it's something I feel like I can't wait till it's 50% off...I'll print out a 40% off coupon and buy it with that.
ReplyDeleteBut I used to be stupid and didn't know that everything is on sale at 50% off at some point during the month. I used to buy things at full price, not knowing that most likely next week it will be 50% off or if not next week...then the next.
Wow, Kim, your mantel looks gorgeous! I love the burlap wrapped pot and will definitely steal the pumpkins on the candleholders idea. Tee hee..... Hope your month goes well. I know you're on pins and needles over that grandbaby that's due on MY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Your mantle is lovely Kim. Perfect for fall!
ReplyDeleteSo Pretty! Really like the pumpkins on the candle holders. Keep in mind, when HL has 40% off coupons you can print one off, take it with you and if it is full price, use the coupon! :-D
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week.
I love the pheasants! I would have happily paid full price! It looks great! Happy Fall!\

You dressed your mantel beautifully for fall, Kim. I love how you wrapped the pots with burlap. Now I am kicking myself for not buying the burlap sacks for $3, that I saw at a fruit store. Love the pheasants....Christine

ReplyDeleteKim...I am loving those pheasants. I have not seen any like them around here--A very neat pair! Your mantle looks great-dressed for Fall and I can almost smell the apple-spicy/pumpkin-cinnamon smell that I am sure is wafting around your house. Am I right?
ReplyDeleteNow..why do you go and wreck the whole thing at the end by giving us a picture of what you are working on but not ready to show us yet? You know how anxious that makes SOME of us! Hugs...my Sweet Southern Friend- Diana
Beautifully dresses mantle! Love those pheasants and the burlap is a nice touch! Beautiful home!

Hi there...great post and lovely blog!! Love your use of burlap too!All the best,Chrissy
ReplyDeleteThe burlap gives it just the right amount of texture. I like what you have done! I had some pheasants but I put them in the camper cabin!!! I am waiting for the leaves to change so I can maybe bring in some branches!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim, love the pheasants!
ReplyDeleteI love all that you've done, but especially loves those birds. I wish we had a Hobby Lobby up here in Canada....you all seem to make such great finds there!
ReplyDeleteI love your mantel. I love Hobby Lobby! I always try to visit there when I head back home for a visit in Ohio. I found out recently there is one about an hour and a half or so from me. *drools* lol

Kim,
ReplyDeleteOnce again - great job! Your home is just beautiful.
Wondering if it is garland on the mantel or individual pieces? Do you remember where they are from?
Thanks,
Betsy
I haven't done anything to my mantle! It's really big & the thought just overwhelms me right now. I can't wait to see what your sneak peak project is!!

ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week so far.
~ Jo :)
Betsy, thanks for your sweet comment and for your question. Those are picks I used on the mantel and larger pieces too. Some is from this year and some from last, but I do believe it all came from Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeleteI love how you've gone for elegant rather than "cute". It really suits your home. This really makes me miss having a fireplace. This is our first house without one and not only do I miss having a fire...I miss having a mantel to decorate!
ReplyDeleteWell done! I remember the mirror that used to be there! Quite a change!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy! Liz
Your mantel looks just so cozy! Thank you for stopping by my blog :). I'll for sure be back to visit! Heidi
