Are you ready to see what I worked on all weekend. How many guessed a piece of furniture since that is what I usually work on?
If you did you were wrong! Here are some pictures of my latest project.
If you did you were wrong! Here are some pictures of my latest project.
Here is another peek at it. Still don't know?
How about now?
Did you guess correctly?
Yep, the front door got a new do.
I wanted the door to have a aged terra cotta look. I think I achieved it. It took several layers and I will share that in another post soon. Now I want to share my fall decor on the porch.
First I had Mr. Savvy put this large urn planter on the porch. The we wrapped it with grape vine.
Then I filled it with pumpkins, gourds, corn and a mum from a farm that sells produce that we drove to
on Sunday. It was such a great day for a drive.
I bought the vine pumpkins at Home Goods and the large pumpkin at the farm.
I used my old terra cotta pots to the mix.
Placed a lantern in this corner.
Purchased this huge mum in the apple basket at Walmart. I can't wait till it blooms.
Also added some pussy willow branches in the corner for more texture.
I wanted the door terra cotta to bring out the color in the stone walls.
I love the door but it is that MUM that caught my eye. You will have to show it to us when it blooms.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you just keep going and going! You have so much energy to get stuff done. Great job.
Wow, Kim ... your new door is fabulous! The color is perfect and serves as a beautiful backdrop to your festive Fall entry! I love your pumpkins and how you wrapped the urn with grapevine (that stuff is NOT easy to work with, as I just found out when I wrapped my Fall tree). It all looks wonderful. And, when you run out of things to magically transform with your paint brush, I'll be happy to give you my address, k? (lol) *Becca*
ReplyDeleteKim, I just love the color of your front door...I never thought of using that color but it is perfect! Thanks for showing pics of how you placed your gourds in that huge urn...I think I am going to do that too!!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Kim....what a beautiful job you did on your door & the entire front entrance!
ReplyDeleteI'm always so inspired by the things that you do. (Rettabug runs right out to the front with one of her laterns & an old flower pot)
Thanks so much for sharing your creativity!
Great Entrance. love everything. The color on the front door couldn't be better. Waiting to see how you did that.
ReplyDeletePretty pretty Kim, you did achieve the color you wanted. It looks awesome, as your Fall porch too!
ReplyDeleteI love that you wrapped the grapevine around your urn. It looks like it has been steadily wrapping itself around it for a while now! I am in desperate need to paint all my doors! Yours looks great and is perfect for your home.
ReplyDeleteLacy
You've done a great job.... the colour works well. I just love how you've decorated your front porch. I've never seen anyone decorate for fall (we don't do it here), so I'm loving all the American blogs I read. BTW, your fall decorations are the best :)
ReplyDeleteI love the door! You did a wonderful job...can't wait to hear how you did it. Mine needs a make over badly. I have the same Baldwin door handle. Mine is stained and it has faded when I compare it to the inside it looks awful. I have a completely covered porch and the door doesn't get any sun but it still faded.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day and thanks for sharing your project.
Denise
Your Fall front porch looks wonderful Kim. Your door is beautiful! We were just looking at our front door the other day. The midnight green is beginning to fade, so I'm sure we'll need to do a makeover soon.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I love the color of the door, really warms it up and let's me know that a warm person lives there:) Too, that porch decor is great, love how you displayed it all Kim, you rock!
ReplyDeleteThe door looks great! You've created a very warm and welcoming entry. Hope you'll post pics of the giant mum when it blooms! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Now you've got me all excited to go find me a couple of big fat mums for my concrete urns out front.
ReplyDeleteI only have one question, "When do you rest???" Everything looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteSusan
Kim, it's all beautiful! You have such a welcoming entry anyway & what a fantastic job on painting the door. Looks great. THanks for joining the party.Happy Fall, my friend!
ReplyDeleteKim... your newly colored front door is totally warming and welcoming. I love it. I have to admit that I keep going back to the pictures of your dining room able... the chippy table is so beautiful. I love every inch of your house. Thank you for being so open and for sharing all your ideas, finds, tips, etc. Your blog is my favorite. I also used to have a little Yorkie, her name was Tia, she only got up to 4 1/2 pounds and lived for 17 years. YES... 17... she should of been put down several years prior but it was TOO hard.... so when I see your little pooch, it so reminds me of mine. ♥

I really like your new front door decor. Your paint job made it look more like stained wood. Very nice! Looks like we should have Thanksgiving at your house this year since you're all ready with your fall decorations! I haven't put out the first thing! Ha! Oh well, I've been sick and it only just now got cold enough to make me feel interested in it. Great ideas with the vine wrapped around the urn and the lantern though. Your mantel turned out great too. I tried to leave you a comment about it, but Google came up with some error code when I tried to submit it.
ReplyDeleteThe door turned out fabulous and I love your porch all decked out for fall.
ReplyDeleteYou are the most energetic blogger I know. You do amazing transformations. Looks super and love the front porch decor!

ReplyDeleteI really like that urn! I may have to steal the grapevine idea :) The new door looks great. You are a painting machine!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW...that is so beautiful! I love the combination of the door with the stone. And all the decorations are so pretty too :D
ReplyDeleteThat mum is huge!!! Mine have bloomed early, I might be having to go pick up another one or two to get me through the season!
ReplyDeleteThe door look great Kim, really colour is fabaloue, your decor is also very impressive, but your door is 100% perfect. 10 *s from me
ReplyDeleteLove
It looks so beautiful and inviting. I love everything you added. Those mums are going to be so pretty when they bloom.
ReplyDeleteOoo...nice. Our door is dark red, also against light brick. When we bought the house is was teal and we quickly painted over that. We've talked about changing it...I'm not sure what direction to take and it didn't occur to me to glaze it, I was thinking I had to pick one solid color. I'm anxious to see the post on how you did it. I might even like keeping mine with a deep red, just with another layer over that.
ReplyDeleteLove those HomeGoods pumpkins...I wish we had one near us, but I think it is safer that I only go when I travel!
What a huge mum! It's going to be gorgeous when it blooms! The door color turned out very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the door color and the filled urn!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous presentation Kim. You are amazing! Peggy
ReplyDeleteI KNEW that was the front door! ;) The finish is wonderful and your fall decorations are perfect! Let us see the mum when it blooms!

Hi Kim, I think this might be the first time I have commented and I just wanted to tell you your front porch looks perfect, I love the new door and all of your Fall decor (;
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! Wish you could give my plain black door a "new do." I've got a lot of catching up to do with you. No telling what all you've been up to while I've been knee deep in household disasters.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Ooh, Kim! It's beautiful! The front door turned out perfect and I love all your fall decorations, too...and your little dog figure looks so cute on the porch!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. Have been a fan for a long time. I really like your style of decorating, inside and out. My problem today is I have visited so many blogs in the last several weeks I can't remember where I saw a post about a pretty new kitchen rug. Was it you by any chance? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYour front door looks fantastic Kim. I just have petered out when it comes to decorating for fall! haha. Will resume tomorrow. I love fall so much, but orange just is not my favorite color. What's a girl to do!?

Don't think I've ever seen any, but would love to have some. You have the most beautiful home, and I absolutely love your blog. I visit you often! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour front door and porch are gorgeous without your decor! lol I do love what you have done and must see a photo of that mum when she blooms. It is HUGE!
ReplyDeleteTutorial maybe?? What did you use to get the aged look? I am needing to do ours and love to glaze it but am scared. Yours is truly inspiring!
