For those of you who are regular readers of my blog you know that my daughter is expecting her first baby around the 27th of this month. Wow, it is almost time! You also know that we have been working on her nursery. I went down to her house and took some pictures of how it looks now. She still has to get her husband to hang the mobile from the ceiling. It is the cutest thing. Not your average mobile. I will share it when she gets it hung.
The first thing we did today was to hang this vinyl letter that I gave her. It is pink and the wall is chocolate brown. Not looking too brown in this photo.
There are a lot of polka dots in this room as you will see. This is a cute rug from Pottery Barn that she originally was going to use in the bathroom, but it is too big. She had a brown and white polka dot rug in here, but once she got her brown chair in here she said it was too much brown so she put the pink rug in here.
This new chair is sooooo comfy and is made of a soft corduroy. The ottoman is borrowed from her sister in law.
For now this cute little owl is using the chair.
The pink sock monkey is hanging out at the top of the bed.
This monkey is hanging on to the side.
These little blocks spell out Leila and were made by a friend.
This L is on the ledge above the bed.
Here is the diaper bag made by Leila's great aunt.
These letters hang above the changing table and will be replaced with pictures of Leila.
For now Leila will not forget her name. It is everywhere.
Brown polka dot lamp shade
Polka dot piggy bank that I gave her. Chocolate brown with pink dots.
Pink polka dot changing pad.
This lamp shade was made by the same friend that made the blocks and it matches the bedding pattern.
Little lamb makes womb and other sounds to soothe Miss Leila.
Polka dot container holding toys.
This is the drapery panel fabric that started the room.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Beautiful nursery. Can't wait to see the baby that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I really think the pink polka dot rug is a great accent to the entire room. Cute cute cute lampshades. Everything is just so darned cute. I can't wait to see her!! When Jack was little his room was the monkey theme, and I just loved it. What I love about the room is that it will be easy to grow with her, with just some changes here and there as she get's older. You can see all the love, time and dedication that was put into it. Sooooo exciting!!!~
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, everything is so beautiful. Is that one of the new cribs that becomes a bed? I had 2 sons then Daniel had 2 sons til 2007 when the first girl came along. My DIL did all the girly things for the nursery and it was lovely. K is now 3 and such a tomboy because of her older brothers. Like my son said she'll have more dates because she relates to guys so well. She may fool us all but we love her just the way she is.
ReplyDeleteLil' Miss Leila is going to love her room. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! Brown and Pink is so cute and all the polka dots. I know you are anxious for that baby to get here!
ReplyDeleteDonnie, thanks and yes the bed does convert into a toddler bed and a full size bed.
ReplyDeleteKim, I've been following along with each of the things that your daughter's friends and family have done to finish the nursery for little Leila, so it's wonderful to see it all pulled together in anticipation of the big day!

ReplyDeleteSo adorable! I absolutely love the drapery panels and of course I see it's in the bedding too! I didn't notice the monkeys on it at first and was pleasantly suprised to see them on there later. The pink sock monkey is too cute. We used to sell those polka dot piggy banks in the store and they always sold so well! What fun for her to have a girl to do polka dots with! This is such a wonderfully vibrant baby room! Nice job!

ReplyDeleteIt just looks wonderful, everything is perfect. I'm especially loving that pink sock monkey.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so adorable! Being a grandmother is just the best ever!
ReplyDeleteWell, that is just the cutest room ever. I think you know how much I love monkies?! I'll bet that little pink sock monkey came from Target...I saw them there and could hardly resist buying one. I did buy the little monkey Jack-in-the-Box that was part of that set.
ReplyDeleteI know how excited you must be getting. Just think how wonderful it will be to see that little baby in her own crib!
I love that her name is all over everything. I will tell you one of my little "tricks". I taught all my grandkids to spell their name by singing it to the tune of B-I-N-G-O. Before SweetCheeks was 3 she could spell not only her name but her two sister's names too. It is a great song for a car ride. And then we drop a letter and clap as we drop each one- Just like the old Bingo song. Their teachers were so impressed when they started nursery school and could spell and recognize their names. (Youll be the "best" gramma/nana/whatever ever).
Which reminds me---have you decided what she will call you yet? My friends all told me early on to pick a name other than Gramma so that we wouldn't have a Gramma Smith and a Gramma Jones and a Gramma Whodod. So...I am Nana and the kids other grandmothers are Grammas or Grammies. Funny how that works out..and the kids always know which grandmother you are talking about then.
And...before I forget...I love the pink initial on the brown wall...perfect!
AND...thanks for always popping by my blog and leaving a comment...and, to answer one of the comments- Yes..I am a big kid at heart when it comes to my grandchildren. I LOVE listening to them...and I know you will treasure every moment of your new granddaughter's existence!
Hugs-Diana sheeez-almost wrote a book there...
... such a special space for a special someone! The nursery is just lovely, and I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. My babies are nearly grown and I don't have any g babies yet but I suspect that they are in the five year plan. I look forward to helping my daughter pull together a nursery and to have one in our home too.
