Look What I Crafted

 You have probably seen these, but I hadn't until I went to my sister's last week. She had these awesome books in a basket on her coffee table and I loved the different look to them. She bought  a couple that were made like this at a local decor store for $7.95 each. What?! She realized she could make them for a whole lot cheaper. Then I copied her!! Thanks sis for the idea.

First you go to Good Will and buy some cheap books. I used the paperback ones for this project.

Rip the covers off and get some twine. You can use jute like I did or the twine that you wrap with. My sister used the twine and they look really good. I used this jute that I had on hand.

Now for a twist. I poured tea in a large bowl and placed the books in it to make the pages look older and to make the edges ripple.

Then I place them on a towel to dry. Ignore the filthy towel.

Then you just take a very long piece of twine and start tying it around the books like you would put ribbon around a package. Wrap horizontally and then vertically and flip it over back and forth until you have it wrapped several times.

Then tie a knot on the back side and cut off the extra length left over.

Just place them in a basket or a bowl like I did or stack them on the table or a shelf or mantel. 

Simple project and I love the look.

Books $1.50 apiece.

Jute was already on hand.
