I am not hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, but I do have family coming for the holiday. We will be going to my sister's this year to eat. I thought I would play and set a table and pretend that we are having Thanksgiving here. Everything I used I had on hand.
I brought in my twig pumpkins from the front porch.
I am using the apple basket that came with my huge yellow mum. The mum has seen better days and won't last much longer so I might as well enjoy the basket in here.
I filled the basket with lots of nature inspired items.
Added the pheasants that were gracing the mantel.
Filled my glass hurricanes with acorns and tiny pumpkin things and a votive candle nestled in the center.
The place setting is a mix of casual dishes and my grandmother's china that I inherited on top of my chargers from Pottery Barn. I love this mix of old and new.
I am using my mismatched vintage silverware that I have been collecting from flea markets.
Purchased these napkins from Pottery Barn this summer while on sale and haven't used them yet.
Wicker napkin rings from World Market.
Amber glassware is from Ballard's a few years ago.
Dusk is setting in.
One more look with the morning sun coming in.
A very pretty make believe table, Kim. I love to play with dishes, make believe or not.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
Kim, it looks just lovely! And the best thing is the dish washing will be make believe too!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Thanks for sharing your creativity even though you won't be home to use it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteYour table is lovely. Like all the nature inspired touches. Your little pheasant roaster looks perfect in the background in your hutch. I also love the acorns in the hurricane.
Sherry
You always have doable ideas that we can steal Kim. I like the simplicity of the acorns in the hurricanes. I have those ingredients and haven't set my table yet, so I'll be using your idea! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim. I love all the natural elements.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I love the shot of the tree through your dining room window....gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteKim-It looks beautiful. I suppose I will have to scroll back because I don't remember the inside of the hutch being green. Maybe it was closed in previous pictures? Love all the natual things you have used and the pheasants are perfect.
ReplyDeleteI also love the blend of old and new. Hugs-Diana
What a shame no one is coming ~ everything is beautiful and so inviting. You set a very lovely table.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I think it is so neat that you would go through all that work to decorate a table for Thanksgiving and then to share it with everyone even though you aren't going to use the table for the holiday. Such motivation...it is inspiring!
ReplyDeleteJan @ Mavrik Lane
Kim, your table is lovely. We are going to friends for Thanksgiving, but I also set a table this weekend. We'll enjoy it this week, just the two of us. ;-) Seeing all the inspiration of beautiful tables that others have done made me want to play in the dishes. Ours is simple. I like all the layers you used, and the centerpiece is gorgeous. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteIt is just beautiful..I know it took awhile to set this pretty table..thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I love your table..it is beautiful!!!

Kim your table is fantastic, what a great thing to share it with us when you aren't even hosting. After drooling over your centerpiece my eye went straight to the pheasant soup tureen in your hutch. That is one nice looking piece. Enjoy the holiday and thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so gorgeous and so opulent, very lovely and very lush! I especially like the layering of your dishes, mixing in the vintage is a special surprise. Have a great Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHey since your table is set so pretty, I'll just bring over the turkey and we can eat at your house! Ha! Looks very pretty. Still haven't set mine yet. I don't think mine will have as many layers as yours though. I've got to set 3 tables, so I've got to come up with 3 centerpieces and alot of place settings!
ReplyDeleteYour table is so beautiful and very festive!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a gorgeous tree outside your window! It all looks so nice, especially the night pic's. I love the cabinet behind with the wavy glass too. Have a great Thanksgiving :D
ReplyDeleteKim, have a wonderful Thanksgiving day with your family!!! To bad they will miss your Thanksgiving table it is so festive!!! Happy Tday,Hugs Kathysue
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Enjoy your week and your dinner at your sister's! I wish I was going to my sister's for the holiday! ♥
ReplyDeleteOf course, it's gorgeous, Kim. I'm due for a trip to Pottery Barn. I really like those chargers, oh, I almost forgot the pheasants, so cute.
ReplyDeleteStunning~! so many unique and beautiful items put together as only you can..
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving
YOur "play" table looks beautiful, Kim! As you know I LOOOVE those chargers! It is so nice that you used your Grandmother's china too! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!! I am having dinner here for my family so after I get my tablecloth IRONED I will set my table. I better get moving:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! You've really set a gorgeous table! I'll be doing good to actually get the table set by Thursday much less do a pretend table!
ReplyDeleteHave a very Blessed Thanksgiving with all your family!
Looks so seasonal and festive... ashame your not hosting. I think you and Mr. Savvy should have breakfast here!!!
ReplyDeleteKim , it is just lovely.

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
Every thing is just beautiful. Teresa
ReplyDeleteYour pretend table is beautiful! I'm just cooking for my husband and my son...I'm torn between setting the table with my grandmother's china (there isn't much of it, so I can't use it for large groups) or using every day dishes that can go in the dishwasher. I guess I'll decide Wednesday:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday!
Hi Kim, Beautiful table and I love the vignette you created. The basket, flowers, acorns...everything looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Looks fantastic Kim! The chargers are awesome! Enjoy your family and your Holiday. My Mom and sis are here now, so I am super duper busy and having fun....
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful tablescape! I enjoyed all the neat details!
ReplyDeleteWe have been invited to dinner too so my tablescape probably won't be seen either! LOL!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Katherine

ReplyDeleteIt looks very charming. What a nice job getting it all together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous table! You are so good at tablescaping. I totally am not. Guess I just need to copy what you do. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteSo charming Kim!

Beautiful, Kim! What a lovely collection of pieces...I love the pheasants!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! You and my sister-in-law have the same idea of stuffing thanksgiving items in an apple basket. Though i admit yours was fabulous having that pheasants and nature theme. Nice blog!
ReplyDeletebuy ffxiv gil
love those napkins and the chargers especially cool, but that tree...well it is so beautiful in all it's orange glory.
ReplyDeleteI love the natural elements of your 'make believe' table. It's fun to play, and create. Gorgeous table either way!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Kim, what a lovely Thanksgiving table you have set, even though you aren't hosting Thanksgiving. I love how you brought things from all over your home (in and out) to grace your beautiful table! Love the pheasants! Have a wonderful holiday with your family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and gracious table scape, Kim! Happy Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteLove how the hutch is open. Just gorgeous, I usually have my table set all December, adds to the fun! Makes you think company is coming.
ReplyDeleteKim, I just love this. I think we like similar colors and styles. Pics look great with the Hutch open. Always have loved that green in the background. I don't have a rug under my dining room table either. I have hardwood and a table that is set for 6-8 typically. The rug really interferes with the chairs and the table is so big you can't see the hardwood when the rug is down. It almost covers the entire room! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you get away with NOT hosting any of the big meal celebrations... with all that beautiful decore, people must clamor for it!!..
ReplyDeleteThose pheasants are awesome too...
Beautiful table. I LOVE your chicken wire chargers!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are great chargers. Did you get them recently?
ReplyDelete-Rene
What a beautiful table! I think I would have to leave it like that for awhile!! I just posted a kitchen update this morning! I'm getting there. Luckily our Thanksgiving isn't until Sunday!! Have a great one and enjoy the kiddos!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love your hurricane lamp filled with nuts and I covet your chicken wire chargers. Where did you get those?
ReplyDeleteSo, so pretty! I love everything about this table! I really need those wire chargers. Bad;0)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving.
~Holly
Love the chargers Kim! Everything looks lovely! I am also enjoying these beautiful fall colors out my mother in laws window!! When we came thru Atlanta there was just nothing like seeing the trees pop out at ya!
ReplyDeleteThe chargers are from Pottery Barn back in the summer. Not sure they still have them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful space and you've decorated so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table setting! I think the plans should change so you can host this year. ;)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful idea!! I might just play a little too and set something up with all I have..., including an idea I picked up from another blog to find decorative items in your own yard!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!!

My goodness Kim, you sure have a way with decorating your hutch and table with so many items yet not making them look cluttered! I can't do that - I add, then delete, add, delete... Everything in your displays looks just so gorgeous! I really love those mirrored (silver?) sconces flanking your hutch. I'm trying to figure out what to flank my hutch with now that I've emptied my walls for the new paint color. But for now, I'm enjoying bare walls for a change ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I love every single thing about this post. It is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over and I'll bring a pie! Can't let that beautiful table go to waste! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteP.S. How do you store everything you're not using at the time? I need some help with that issue!
ReplyDeleteKim, you never disappoint. You have a wonderful knack for pulling things together. You have been quite an inspiration to me. I think I had the ability, but it had not been cultivated until I started my blog and met you & several other very talented (and very sweet) women. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Jane, my stuff is in the hutch, buffet, chest behind my sofa in the great room and a tiny coat closet converted to a storage closet for my dishes. I really don't have that many dishes yet. The centerpiece stuff will end up in my bonus room that is full of decor stuff. Some of it I need to get rid of. I may start a booth at a flea market next year. I have to look into it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Your center piece is stunning. Tablescapes are my challenge, but you always make it look so natural and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWendy
Gracious... you really played the best of what you have today, Kim?
ReplyDeletePerfect!
TY for sharing and the inspirations will be keep forever.
Happy TTT...
Greetings from freezing Stockholm,
