Thank you so much for all the kind words regarding my newly painted dining room. I do love walking in there now. I thought I would just recap and show you how many changes I made in there besides the paint color. I was going to do a post and have you find the changes kind of like the old Highlights magazine that I used to look at as a child and play the Can You Find These game. I think it was something like that. Sorry, this many years later the memory is sort of shot! I don't think they make those books anymore, but they were great for making you find the items drawn into the bigger picture.
Before
I moved the buffet to this side of the room. It had been on the other side forever and I love the change. Of course the vignette has changed, too.
Before
So of course the armoire moved to this side and I uncluttered the top for now.
Before
Put the original crystal globes back on the chandelier.
Before
Letting the drapes hang loose instead of tying them back and the plaque above the window had already been changed before I painted. This is a late afternoon shot.
This pictured moved from the sitting room to here. Yes, some changes in there, too.
Before
The rug had already been moved out to the sitting room since it was stained. The pictures on each side of the hutch were changed out for these transferware plates. Of course the hutch changed.
Loving the new cleaner look for sure.
Thanks again for your sweet responses.
Oh and the cost of this makeover was a whole $23 for paint!

Kim love the changes. I still am not sure of the color. It looks different in each shot. I will have to go read some more.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that the color is much softer and I like seeing the wood of the chairs. Oh, and the open China cabinet is awesome. Great changes. Wasn't boring before but really great now. Hugs, Ginger
I loved the befores but sometimes you just need to change.
ReplyDeleteI do like the lighter colour on the walls and I bet you had fun doing it all!
It's such a good feeling walking into a room after you have had a bit of a play or a good clean isn't it?! xo ~ J
love the changes!
ReplyDeletelove the changes!
ReplyDeleteKim, truly, you amaze me. That room is even more beautiful than before. I do like the softer colors better. Nice call!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love it, Kim. While it was beautiful before, there's something really special and soothing in how it turned out. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI Love how your room turned out...I just painted our dining room a similar color but it doesn't look as nice as yours! Beautiful, as always kim!
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous. The new neutral color is so pretty, however I really did like the yellow too. I like the chandy with the crystal globes, so pretty for a change. Beautiful room. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteKim, I love what you've done. It is absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like how the drapes are now freely hanging and not tied back. And the cost of the project isn't bad either. :>)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving it, Kim. It does look fresher and newer, don't you think? I really like the drapes free flowing a bit...and the color is yummy...softer and a bit more serene looking. I also like the statment it makes with just the one big basket on top of the hutch. You did good girl! Really good! Hugs-Diana ps...They STILL make Highlights- I have bought it a couple of times over the years for the kids.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh and the do still make the Highlight books. My mom has a subscription going for each one of the younger grandkids. My 9 year old loves them....they still have the search for objects page too!
:)
Kim, it all looks so pretty. You accomplished alot in a short time span!
ReplyDeleteKim, I know you are going to enjoy your changes. It all looks terrific. Fun to change things about. You are inspiring me! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteI like seeing how you made changes. Cutest thing I spied though is your pooch on the couch, just like in your header, that is a super capture without you even knowing it.
ReplyDeleteKim I really like all of your changes, It looks so fresh!!! I love that you used what you already had and just moved it around. I need to do that more. I never move my furniture around only accessories. My family room sofa is in the same spot it was when we moved in 33yrs ago. Of course I have had 5 new sofas over the years so at least that has change, lol, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteHi Kim-
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see how small tweaks can really make a big difference. I love the new paint color and the original chandy globes. Looks so fresh and updated.
My best- Diane
I'm loving the look of your curtains. They look totally different, in fact I thought they were new ones. Also I like your Bella Villa sign there also. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Susan
Great job. Interesting color. It seems very different depending upon the light. Glad that you are enjoying it.

Beautiful changes, Kimmie! Just a gorgeous room!! Love the new color!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
What a fabulous makeover for $23.00!!! I really love the new look. One of my favorite things is having the hutch open showing off your dishes!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how much you get done...I want your energy!
Jane
Kim, Love the new wall color...your dining room is just gorgeous!!! I loved seeing the before and afters together so we can see what changes you have made to the room. Beautiful.....

The light in this room is just amazing, Kim! I love the clean, fresh look, too!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love all the before and after pictures, you are an amazing worker, always feathering that beautiful nest! I also love the picture of the little gal on the bench playing her violin...very cute! :D
ReplyDeleteLove the way your new room turned out Kim. Its always fun moving things around and you get a whole new fresh look. I like your chandelier without the shades very pretty. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI loved that game in the Highlights magazine!! Your dining room looks great either way, but I am enjoying the simpler style very much.
ReplyDeleteGreat basket on the armoir, love the crystal globes, glad you saved those. But, am I the only one, that misses the old paint color? I'm just a yellow girl I guess.
ReplyDeleteI love the before and afters. You definitely know how to dress your home. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the new color and the new look. You have great style.
ReplyDeleteI know someone probably already said it, but Highlights is alive and well...It blows my mind how you can take something that looks spectacular and make it even better...You need to be in a magazine, I've said it before, but I think now more than ever...You are giving me bad ideas(according to the man), so thanks;)
ReplyDeleteThe before and afters are great! Loving the new room!
ReplyDelete- Lauren
I so enjoy change and love the new look in your dining room. Simply delicious.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing the changes put together, Kim. Really gives a wonderful perspective. Beautiful changes and post! I've not used Behr paint. I believe it's available right in our little town. Using SW, for most of our projectsm, we have to drive a bit to buy.
ReplyDeleteI have worked on the smaller of the two guest rooms, here at the lake, the past day or so. Almost photoshoot ready, this morning. I'll post it later today and link it to next week's party. This redo was strictly spur of the moment. Love when that happens.:-)
I absolutely LOVE the crystal globes on your chandelier! GORGEOUS! I just started a giveaway on my blog this morning! Stop by to enter! Hugs! ♥
ReplyDeleteGreat look..I do like the original crystal globes better because it makes the formal dining room seem more formal and they are very unique! Did you mention the name of the wall color before? I must of missed it if you did. The close-up picture (with the chandelier and the crystal globes back on) gives a great understanding of the wall color.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful changes,
ReplyDeleteall! I especially
like your lovely
fixture and the
changes to the
armoire....and
the price tag : )
Happy Day,
xx Suzanne

Your dining room is beautiful, Kim, and your chair fabric looks like the fabric I used to recover mine. When looking at your blog photos, I see so many like items that I have. We must be kindred spirits.
ReplyDeleteThe room looks beautiful, & I think I like the new look to the chandy better than the previous one. That was good, too, but these are special.
ReplyDeleteCAS
Alrighty, your dining room and a lot of other people out in blog land have me seriously thinking about "toning down" my colors. I liked the gold/yellow, but I can see what you meant by it being too bold. My sunroom is also very bold, but I am just afraid I cannot make the lighter colors work for me. I have a lot of serious thinking to do because I really do want to be more "neutral". I did get my dining room finished, (and I did follow some advice that I got, hint, hint) but I still am not satisfied with it. Oh me.... Oh, your drapes do look great with the new colors, but they also looked great with the previous ones too.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful room and I love your changes!
ReplyDeleteYesyesyesyesyes!!! Lighter, brighter, AND your armoire doors are open! It makes such a statement and you don't have to endure your beautiful items behind glass glare.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new room reveal!

Kim...it looks great...so fresh and clean. Sometimes we just need to edit but it usually takes paint or something new to get started!
ReplyDeleteI like the new, lighter paint color - makes the room feel fresh and light!
