First let me say thanks for going over and taking a peek at Joan's blog. She really did appreciate it.
Now, I have been keeping a little secret. I never realized that by putting photos on my blog and linking
to parties that there are people from magazines scouting these things.
I received an email the other day and at first thought it was a scam. It said Christmas mantel
request from Better Homes and Gardens. I thought what? I opened it and sure enough
they were requesting permission to use a certain photo of my Christmas mantel that I had linked
to Layla's mantel link party.
This was the photo attached in the email that they want to use for a video series on bhg.com. for the holidays this year.
Yea, it's not the magazine, but it is something that will be seen by a lot of people and I am quite
honored that they want to use this shot.
They went on to say they needed it in a 300 dpi or larger. I didn't have a clue what that meant, but
I knew someone that could surely tell me. I emailed Kat and she answered me right away and explained about resolution to me. She had me send her the photo so that she could tell me what dpi it was. Thanks Kat for the help. I wrote bhg.com back and they said they would see if they could use the photo I had since it was only 180dpi. A few days later they wrote me back and they are
going to use it! I am thrilled that it is a go.
They also wanted to know how I attached the Santa head to the mirror. I told them with a command strip by 3M. Stick it on and then after Christmas it just pulls right off.
The moral of this story is that it does pay to link up to these parties. You just never know who
is looking!
So get linking,
KIM
Congratulations Kim! You definitely deserve to be featured.
