First I want to say a huge thank you for the sweet comments regarding my bench
transformation. That was a fun one to work on and many of you want to know how I did it and I will
share that with you soon. I didn't take pictures of each step, but I can tell you how I did it and
the products and colors.
Now on to a vignette in my great room this week for Tabletop Tuesday.
I made some changes to this bookcase after I put all the Christmas decorations away.
Vintage books on a shabby stand with a cloche, thrift store books wrapped in twine, vintage shoe mold, wooden bowl, shed antler, buffet lamp and my favorite clock. I just love large clocks. This one was made to look old.
I took out one of the shelves so I could place my large clock on the bookcase.
Placed a taller lamp, too. Now I just need to paint that dang dark cord so it won't show so easily.
Cords just drive me nuts. And before some one asks, the lamp came pained like that.
I love this new look with the different height of the shelves.
What do you think?
I hope your week goes well.
KIM

Very pretty, Kim! I love the wooden bowl with the textured goodies inside .. and the books on the stand, topped off with the cloche is beautiful ... the single fork is a fun touch! And, the black clock is a beautiful addition to your bookcase, too!
ReplyDeleteNow I don't feel so alone! I thought I was the only one who painted cords!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! Loving the clock...a wonderful addition to your vignette!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I really like your clock. I have never thought of painting the cord. Great idea! I do like the shelves adjusted too, they look great that way!
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love everything displayed on your shelves. I really like your black clock. The green color behind it makes it POP! Well done! ((Hugs)) ~Liz
ReplyDeleteI love everything in your vignette. It all looks so homey and inviting and I agree ~ I love the lamp too.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I love it too...and I really liked the book under the cloche...great idea!!~
ReplyDeleteKim, it looks wonderful. I love it. The clock is wonderful and of course I am drooling over the cloche with the books. I need to remember or borrow that idea for some of my books, it looks fabulous. You really do have lovely vignettes on every shelf. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love the clock Kim, very pretty against the green. You can buy small plastic tubes that are flexible cord covers at Lowes. I know they come in white ~ that is if you don't want to paint the cord. I use them to hide cords where I can.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Sue
Kim, this is just absolutley beautiful, I liked the raising of the bookshelf to add the clock. All the different textures are just great.
ReplyDeleteKim- It looks great...did you do both sides with the same shelf spacing? I really love that old clock in there and the dome with the books is a really nice touch. Nice job-as always- Diana
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful Kim! I love your clock!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, and the shelf looks great with the large clock!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful Kim.
ReplyDeleteThe new lampshades are from Home Goods. They had a really nice selection of shades the other day. Not always the case at ours.
I hate cords too.... right now my office has not been highlighted on my blog because I can't stand the cords and haven't figured out how to clean it up yet.
ReplyDeleteGreat job - love the old books on vintage cake stand -
I love the stand and the cloche with the books in it~ Fabulous ;-)
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful change in your shelf vignette! Love the use of sheds. Adore the wooden shoe, smitten with the clock! Own two similar lamps! !!
Not being a photographer, I'd love for someone to post about photographing and ANNOYING chords! If I had kept track of how many photos I've erased due to chords. . .well. .. I'd have had a lot more posts to blog about! Guess what I'm trying to say is, "Dear, I can relate to the chord situation!" Thanks for this lovely post!
Fondly,
Pat
First, your bench turned out wonderful! I am living vicariously through you right now, since I can't paint, sand, or anything with this darn shoulder!!
ReplyDeleteLove the vignette too.
Hugs

ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty. You are just the queen of vignettes! I did think you painted that lamp!
ReplyDeleteLacy
Pretty vignettes - you have the touch.
ReplyDeleteNo real decorating here, just trying to get some of the "petty projects" taken care of.
Have a great week.
Glenda
It looks just great! Cords are aggravating but a necessary evil! I have some more items for my vignettes that I need to put together for the party yet!!

ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely gorgeous!! Love it! Especially the clock!
That is a gorgeous cloche. You can retouch the cord out of the photo but I know you do not wish to see it in person either.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Kim!
ReplyDeleteI never got a chance to comment on your last post. I love what you did with your bench. You are so brave...I am always terrified to paint a piece. Do you think one day your husband is going to hide your paint brushes lol ?!
Such a lovely vignette, Kim...I LOVE that clock!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks just gorgeous! I feel the same way about light cords...they drive me crazy. I so wish I could find a way to make them disappear altogether!
ReplyDeleteLove it Kim! I love big clocks I have a huge one in my living room. Gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeleteLookin' good girl!
ReplyDeleteLooks good, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a clue why my font went from big to little on my last post. It happened once before and I never did figure it out.:(
Really pretty. I'm a big fan of a vintage vibe!
ReplyDeleteLove all your elements on your shelves, especially the books & fork under your cloche!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! Things just look so pretty under a clohe! I often will put one of my bunnies (decorative, of course) under there and my husband will say...what did he do?! LOL! THANKS so much for the tip on changing the time...it worked!
ReplyDelete*cloche* not clohe! I Need spell check on comments! Sorry :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kim!!
ReplyDeleteKim, the elements in this vignette are perfect together. I love how all the different pieces work together so well. That cloche is a special one and I love the little books inside. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the big clock...and the BOOKS! Oh, how I love to display old books! Enjoy your day, sweet friend! ♥
ReplyDeleteLove it. The combination in the bowl is so interesting, and who would have thought of putting books in a cloche? LOL at painting the cord; I thought I was the only one to do that!
