This is the before shot taken before Christmas when I had added the little tree on the nightstand.
I know this looked good, but the walls had been this color since Princess Diana was killed in that
horrible accident. I remember that being on t.v. while I was painting. Over the years I had so many nail holes in these walls and didn't have the paint any more to match since Mr. S through it out.
Soooooooo...........
New softer green on the walls is dill weed by Benjamin Moore. I decided to paint top, bottom, and
chair rail so the wall wasn't chopped up. I really wish I didn't have the chair rail in there, but this
is an easy way to make it disappear.
I still have the bird bedding and will be putting it back on for spring and summer. I like these
muted colors now for the cooler months. Already had all this bedding. It used to be in the master bedroom when the walls were green.
I had already painted and glazed this antique table, but decided to rough it up a bit more with
my new
I also switched this nightstand and the table to opposite sides of the bed.
I painted the gold colored frame I had white. I may glaze it later.
Added two ironstone platters to the frame.
This is where the recent frame project is hung. You can see how I made this here.
Baby bed is for the grand babies for those that may be new here.
This bunny was made by my grandmother when I was pregnant the first time with my son. The dress
just happens to be a green gingham like the sheets on the bed.
Love this older Ralph Lauren bedding. This is the Grovesnor Square pattern.
I know some will prefer the old way, but just wait till I put the bird bedding back on. That is
why I chose this green that works with both bedding sets.
I have always love Dill Weed. That color is just a good pleasing color. I love the room. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteLoved the split pea soup color before, yet the dill weed color is softer and a much more relaxed look an feel to the space. The whole outcome of the suble changes and a little tweaking here and there set a tone and mood for a room to LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your beautiful visit.
Thank you for the comment on the dresser that is shown in the post before the footboard post :)
Do you just love chipped up white pieces...I know I sure do :)
xx
Blessings

Oh, I love it. I loved it both ways, but I understand the change. You have made that room so welcoming for your guests, especially those with small babies. I be they love that you have a crib set up.
ReplyDeleteI love it, Kim! That is such a pretty shade of green! The frame with the platters in it is just gorgeous! Isn't it funny how you remember events when you painted? I painted the livingroom the day we started the war in Iraq...Desert Shield! Weird, huh? Happy Sunday!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteYour guest bedroom looks so lovely. I really like all of your attention to detail. One of my favorites in the frame on the wall with the platters. Very pretty.
hugs
Sissie
Looks so much softer Kim! I love your antique table and all of your accessories!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be a guest at your house, this room is so warm and welcoming! You did a wonderful job. Love the new color too!
ReplyDeleteIt's just beautiful, Kimmie! OH, you're good. Love the softer wall color and those pillows! All these pieces you've redone looks fab together! And there is the sweet crib waiting for your tiny little grand! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're good! I think I've said that already! :) I mean it though!
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Just beautiful, Kim. I liked both ways, with the chair rail and now that it is painted. I can't wait to see your bird bedding, you always have such fabulous taste.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great look with the white platters in a frame and the crackled green birds.
Thanks for sharing.
Kim! I love it! Don't you just want to come decorate my home? :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right the "before" was still pretty good... but the new green is delightful and cozy!
ReplyDeleteI love that you put a crib in the guest bedroom, that's so thoughtful and is a WORLD of helpful. Wish the grandparents in our family cared as much! It's amazing what a help that is!
I love how the room looks with this bedding and I am sure it is going to look great with your bird bedding too. It is a softer shade and I agree with having the top and bottom the same color. Really pretty Kim.
ReplyDeleteI love it, so soft and cozy. T
ReplyDeleteI thought your guest room looked lovely before Kim, but the new colour is a really soothing shade. I like the way you've framed the two plates on the wall - I have an old frame I really like that's tucked away and you've inspired me to look around with new eyes and maybe 'frame' something with it! The bed looks fabulous, just begging to be lain upon in glorious slumber. Your pineapple lamp looks a treat too.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes as always
Rose H

ReplyDeleteThe room is beautiful!! I love the Dill Weed. Is that the same color as your kitchen by any chance? Can you tell me what that color is? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGranna, the kitchen color is rosemary sprig by Benjamin Moore. It is actually a little darker than the dill weed. Rosemary sprig is also in my sunroom.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty room. Wished I liked to paint - I could knock off a lot of to do's on my list.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I like the new color, Kim. A subtle, but pretty change. Also like that you painted the entire wall, including the chair rail. I am struggling with my own paint dilemma right now. Trying to decide on a color for a customer is easier for me to do than it is do it for myself. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis looks Wonderful! I love the frame with the platters, it just makes the room, and I'm all about the gingham, charming!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Really like the dill weed color. Nice jov on the whole room!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous Kim....I love the new softer color and the bedding is wonderful... I love anything Ralph! You never cease to amaze me with your skills, taste and energy!
ReplyDeleteKim,green is one of my favorite colors and I just love the new shade you painted your guest room. I really love that Ralph Lauren bedding especially. His prints are just timeless and even if they are older prints I just never get tired of them. Did you make those curtains or have them custom made. I just love the way they look in the room. I love the wall color painted above and below the same color. You are just amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful, Kim, and I love that Ralph Lauren bedding!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, my hall bath is painted dillweed, too, and I love it. I think I'm going to change my bold shower curtain out for something lighter and more subdued like you did in the bedroom. I REALLY like that color, and I would love to get some of those ivory PB euro shams...so versatile! Linda
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that shade of green! I am bookmarking this page for future bedroom improvements! Love it all.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim,
ReplyDeleteIt looks absolutely beautiful and so inviting. I'm sure that your guests will feel very special in such a pretty room. Loved the old green, but I think I like the new one a little more :-) Great job.
Hugs and Kisses,
♥Ana
Green is my favorite color to decorate with and I rarely see a shade of green I dislike so, needless to say, I love the "before" AND the "after." Just gorgeous! The gingham sheets and Ralph Lauren bedding is pretty spectacular too. Your guests should feel right at home. :)
ReplyDeleteYou probably don't want to tackle it now that the room is done but chair rail molding is typically not hard to remove. (No power tools required.) When we bought the "house in Hooterville," it had an over-abundance of chair rail. It was EVERYWHERE. But not anymore. ;) With a couple basic tools to pry the molding away from the wall, some drywall compound to fill in nail holes, and paint, it's a project even I could handle.
I love this room...in both colors. It's inviting, restful and soothing. Both sets of the bedding are gorgeous. I'd love to know who makes the furniture?
ReplyDeleteJanie
Janie, the bed and nightstand are from Rooms to Go many many years ago and the dresser is Thomasville long time ago, too.
ReplyDeleteI like the green on both parts of the wall. I have a bedroom with chair rail in it also and I have been thinking of doing the same thing. The new green is a subtle difference, but it works so well with the comforter colors. Very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI was just visiting and strolling down your wonderful blog and totally fell in love with your guest room. The color is perfect and the bedding is beautiful. Everything is perfect and your guests will absolutely love staying in this beautiful room.

ReplyDeleteLooks so inviting!! I'm in the middle of a guest room makeover right now and you've given me motivation to press on!
