When Mr. Savvy and I went to Scott's Antique market in Atlanta a week ago I lucked
up and found a booth filled with the most wonderful old leather books and at terrific
prices. They run from $5 to $15. I could not believe these prices because most of them
I have seen in other stores were a lot more than that.
So while we are still visiting the sitting room I thought I would show you my vintage
leather books and a silver trophy that I lucked up on at a local antique mall.
Junk as Mr. Savvy calls it. I told him he has his junk cars and I have my junk in the house.
First I want to show you the books without them being in the bookcase. Aren't these wonderful?
Such wonderful patina to the leather and my sitting room is actually starting to have the
smell of old books.
Only problem is I can't read a single one of these because they are not in English. I don't
care. I'm not a reader anyway. I just want them for the look.
care. I'm not a reader anyway. I just want them for the look.
The books with the blue on the binders are the other new ones from Scott's.
These three books with the blue and the other ones I showed you were $5 a piece. Can't beat that for good old leather books.
The books that were on the $5 table were ones the guy looks at on the shelves and if they are
not in perfect condition he takes them down and puts them on the $5 table. They all looked
great to me. When I go back I will look for more. I may move up to the $8 books. Just sayin.
This was my very lucky find at a local antique mall. I have been wanting some old silver trophies
for this room and this one was only $16. They are usually so much more. I grabbed it and ran to the
counter before they realized it was marked low.
I just love it.
What do you like to collect?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks so much for all the help with that wall. I may be tweaking it again. Have another idea.

I love old books too and your new old tropy is to die for. Who the men think I'm always bringing junk home my hubby just shakes his head and leaves the room.
ReplyDeleteGreat "new" old books and silver! I have a few new old ones, but have been finding them only one at a time. I have 3-4 more now, almost enough to use in a vignette setting.
