When I shared my kitchen reveal the other day I showed y'all the beadboard that Mr. Savvy added for me.
I have been wanting beadboard added in here for quite some time and I still want it in the powder room and the master bath.
Most of you may not know that my Mr. Savvy is a perfectionist when it comes to hanging trim. It has to be done just so or it is not right. He believes that to hang beadboard properly you must remove the baseboards first. He did not want to have to do all that extra work.
He hung all the beadboard in the sun room when we added it on to the house. This is real tongue and groove planked beadboard. This was a real joy to paint. Not!
Here is a close up.
Now back to the kitchen. Does this look like real beadboard?
How about here?
How about now? Well, I guess I better spill the beans. Since Mr. Savvy did not want to take the
baseboards off to hang real beadboard the right way I told him I could get beadboard wallpaper.
Yep, we went that route and I bet you couldn't tell the difference could you? Tell the truth, now.
Mr. Savvy did not believe that the wallpaper could possibly look real until he saw it in person and then agreed to hang it. Thank you to whoever invented this stuff.
Not to think that this job went down without any problems. I thought I would share what a klutz I am.
While I was moving the ladder I set one of the legs in the can of paint. Oops. I stood there and let a lot of it drip back into the can and then I reached down and brushed the rest off into the can. Then when I came up I hit my head on the shelf of the ladder. O.k. you can quit laughing now.
Never a dull moment around here.
Beadboard wallpaper was purchased at our local Ace Hardware.
The cost for the beadboard wallpaper was $19.99 each for two rolls and still have some leftover.
Real wood trim at the top was $30.00 and tube of caulk was around $2.00.
The most expensive thing was the Benjamin Moore paint at $50 for the gallon, but I still have more than a quarter of the can left over.
Thanks so much for the overwhelming response to my kitchen reveal!

wow that is amazing!
ReplyDeletetalk about painting the real thing? My floor in my garden cottage is stained beadboard! looks beautiful but it was hard to do!
Love it Kim....I have used beadboard wallpaper before too and I love it!....I can not tell the dif. either....$19.99 is a great price for 2 rolls where did you get that price, I ordered from the manufacturers and they charge $30 a roll....just wondering who your resource was...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteKim that wallpaper is amazing... so is your house. I love your new room, the color of the bead board is great!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Awesome way to go Kim. The beadboard in our farm got painted white but the painters didn't realize that pine will bleed through after a few years if it isn't primered really good, all the knot holes show through now and it needs kilzed then painted, yuck big job...you did it right!
ReplyDeleteOk Ms. Kim, spill the beans ... where did ya get the wallpaper from? I'm wanting to add beadboard to my kitchen too and I'm not wanting to do all the cutting around electrical plates. Plus, $19 is a great incentive : )
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Kim! I have used beadboard wallpaper before.. but I think they must have gotten better at making it- yours looks amazingly real! Cute story about the paint can and ladder... sounds just like something I would do! lol! :)
ReplyDeleteI have heard such good things about beadboard wallpaper but have never seen it. It looks gorgeous, Kim! The trim really makes it look spectacular! Great job!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Janie
Now that is awesome Kim. Swear I would have never known!
ReplyDeleteWow, I would never had guessed...wallpaper. Looks fantastic. So does the rest of your home. Diane
ReplyDeleteI thought it was the 4x8 wooden sheets, but wallpaper, even better!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to show this to my hubby. I want beadboard in my bath and he just put the wider baseboards in there and said........nope, not redoing.Tried to tell him the wallpaper beadboard looked identical, he didn't believe me.....When he sees your kitchen post, he will be convinced!!! It looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!! Where do you get beadboard wallpaper? I'd love to try it in my powder room. Love your sunroom with the beadboard ceiling!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have thought about wallpaper before we did our powder room last year. Yours looks so real!
ReplyDeleteI sure can't tell! I've been wanting to try that beadboard wallpaper ever since a blogger in another country had me order some for her and send it because she couldn't get it there and they wouldn't mail it to her.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I would have never guessed beadboard wallpaper. I didn't even know such a thing was made. It looks great and if you ever get tired of it, it would be really easy to take down. Thanks for getting the sun to come out. I'm ready to work in the yard.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is amazing...I would never have guessed!
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever heard of beadboard wallpaper. It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove that "stuff!" You really can't tell! I have two rolls of it (that we bought at Home Depot) that have been sitting in our master closet ... was supposed to have done our bath a year ago with it ... oops, have yet to get it done! Maybe this year. :) Great job ... next time, we want pictures of the "blooper," too. lol *Becca*
ReplyDeleteKim, that looks like the real deal!! And, it IS a real deal!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWe purchased the beadboard wallpaper at Ace Hardware. Thanks guys.
ReplyDeleteKim I would have never known it if you didn't say anything, it looks like the real thing!! When we did our beadboard my husband took all the baseboard off, what a pain!! I know said it before but I LOVE your kitchen transformation!!! Martina
ReplyDeleteIt does look real! But that is also what is in my dining room and I think it looks just like the real thing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunroom. Wow!
ReplyDeleteAmazing...turned out so beautifully! Love your sunroom!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! I'm adding some to the back of my antique china cabinet...but haven't finished it yet... I wanted to paint it but thought this might work...
ReplyDeleteDid you paint your wallpaper??? I think it is paintable...
Seriously I could not tell the difference, at all! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks amazing. I just went back and looked at all your recent posts (as I always do when I've been away from blogger for a while) and I love the whole kitchen redo. I think the rooster hooks with the aprons are so happy. The whole place is happy. I even like the new rug, though I simply adored the one you had there before, if you remember the hunt I went on to find it. :)
ReplyDeleteMay you have many happy memories in your happy new kitchen.
Sweet! Nice to see how lovely that wallpaper is!
ReplyDeleteKim your new kitchen beadboard is amazing! What a great look ~ who would of thought .... wallpaper?! You and Mr. Savvy did such a superb job. Now one ever suspected anything. I love your new "brighter" kitchen. ~Susie
ReplyDeleteI did not even know they made bead board wall paper! How awesome is that!!
ReplyDeleteSun came out here too by noon. Wow what a difference it makes in my mood. That wallpaper really does look like the real thing in photos. Does it look real in person? Do you have to order it or can you buy local? I have a little project I'd like to use some on.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, who would have ever thought. It looks fabulous and if you decide you don't want it, so much easier to take down than real wood. I love the new look, it is stunning. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteNO WAY!!! I have seen this paper and wondered how it would look....IM SO EXCITED, ITS FANTABULOUS!!! I showed this post to my husband and I even have him on board with doing this in our dining area.....You are amazing!! thanks so much for sharing. By the way your kitchen and sun room are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Janet
WOW, now that is amazing. I never would have believed that was wall paper. Did you purchase it at a home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowe's or special order it?
ReplyDeleteWow, that's amazing! I think I'm mad! I really believed it was the real thing! LOL.. I've always loved your sun room, I enjoy seeing it! I'd be out there having coffee every morning!
ReplyDeleteIt does look great. We used the real tounge in groove stuff throughout the house. Let me tell you, in the winter with the heat on you get some shrinkage and I hate it...then when it warms up and gets humid it goes back to normal. It is really hard to tell that is paper beadboard...and if you DO get tired of it you can always remove it! I think it is kind of soft backed? Does it "dent" at all? It looks beautiful, Kim...and MyHero is a perfectionist too about stuff like that- drives me crazy (in some ways)...xxoo Diana
ReplyDeleteThat's brilliant! I'd never heard about bead board wallpaper. I wish I'd known about it at our last house - it would have saved a lot of expense and headaches!
ReplyDeleteI was putting bead board wallpaper up the same time you were. I ordered mine from Home Depot and the quality is fabulous. It was so easy to put up, I did it myself. My husband loves it.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, I would have never known if you would not have spilled the beans.
I might just have to try that, but can assure you, my man has no clue on how to hang it.
Clever substitute ha? I love these cheaters!
ReplyDeleteWallpaper? Faux real??!! Lol. Looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? I can't believe it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kim you probably remember what a HUGE fan I am of beadboard wallpaper too & used it in several spots in my B'ham house. Love the stuff! I used the Graham Brown version which looks like yours too, I think it is the best one of all. Looks SO real. Your area looks great, fantastic look & so easy to put up.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful Kim! I have soo been wanting to use this but we have textured walls so I don't dare. I think it would look great in our water closet in the master bath.
ReplyDeleteWow, I would never have guessed that it's wallpaper! That's amazing!! Your kitchen looks absolutely gorgeous, Kim. I meant to comment a few days ago but got too busy. Great job on the project!! What's next? :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it does look real! Your paint mishap sounds like something I would have done!
ReplyDeletehmmm, I got mine at Lowe's. I'll have to check out Ace and see if it's the same, it looks the same, but that's a great price. Since I haven't put it up yet, I may just have to return mine to Lowe's and buy it at Ace. :-)
ReplyDeleteKim, The wallpaper looks just like real beadboard. It looks fabulous in your kitchen.
ReplyDeletexo,
Sherry
Seriously Kim! This is fabulous. I think I've use the word fabulous several times now in reference to your kitchen...;) I would have never known it was wallpaper it looks so real and I just finished installing beadboard so I've been up close and personal with it the last few days. Great, great job! Thanks for sharing it at Inspiration Friday...always love seeing you at the picket fence. :)
ReplyDeleteHeather
Looks wonderful, Kimmie! I would not have know it wasn't real bead board if you hadn't told us!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie and I hope your tiny head is okay!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh my Kim, I had to read the fine print... Wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteIt went up a lot quicker. It is a nice alternative and it's almost like living with it, so you'll know in the future if you want the real product!
Beauiful Southern Kitchen, I bet you know how to cook a little too!

Who would have "thunk" it?!? That is amazing and so much easier! For once, you didn't have to paint a thing on it!!! Kim, it is looking so beautiful in there! You have outdone yourself!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love beadboard, and it looks so great green too! I am getting ready to do some beadboad in my dining room, and kitchen backsplash. Can't wait.
ReplyDeletePat
Kim, your rooms are all so inviting.. I absolutely love that room.
ReplyDeleteWow, you sure fooled me! I never would have known the difference. I love it just the same! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME. Now I know this is a "here's your sign" sort of question, but I am wondering. Is this a textured, paintable type wallpaper? I just love it. I could do soooooo many things with it. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable! Wallpaper!! Never would have known unless I touched it. Beautiful job! Just wondering if the top trim is one piece or two pieces-a horizontal piece and a vertical one?
ReplyDeleteYou know I love that beadboard wallpaper as I have it on the kitchen cabinets and island. HOWEVER, if bumped it will tear easily. Just a little warning. I have a couple of nicks to take care of but it looks GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered what happens if you bump into this beadboard wallpaper, say you knock over something hard onto it. Anyone know?

Shar, the trim at the top is two pieces and to those who have asked yes, this had been painted.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, The beadboard wallpaper looks so fabulous, I'd never guess it wasn't the real deal. You always do such a great job making your home look so cozy and welcoming!
ReplyDeleteHugz,
Kim
Dang...I would never had known...you trying to trick us :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great !! You and your husband did a beautiful job! I need to go back and take another look.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Wow, you had me fooled! That looks just like the real thing! Hmm, now where can I use this in my house?!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Wow - I didn't see that one coming -so smart! Looks GREAT!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love BB wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteI used Martha's BB wallpaper in my kitchen. I was concerned at first since it's the first wallpaper I have used that isn't prepasted and it was SOOOOO easy! I was so impressed with myself, no handy man needed here!
How did your hubby do the trim?
You had me fooled for sure! I totally thought it was real beadboard (which we have been installing around our house too!). Everything looks gorgeous though and we are so glad you linked this up to Inspiration Friday this week!
