When I shared my kitchen reveal the other day I showed y'all the beadboard that Mr. Savvy added for me.
I have been wanting beadboard added in here for quite some time and I still want it in the powder room and the master bath.
Here is a close up.
Now back to the kitchen. Does this look like real beadboard?

How about now? Well, I guess I better spill the beans. Since Mr. Savvy did not want to take the
baseboards off to hang real beadboard the right way I told him I could get beadboard wallpaper.
Yep, we went that route and I bet you couldn't tell the difference could you? Tell the truth, now.
Mr. Savvy did not believe that the wallpaper could possibly look real until he saw it in person and then agreed to hang it. Thank you to whoever invented this stuff.
Not to think that this job went down without any problems. I thought I would share what a klutz I am.
While I was moving the ladder I set one of the legs in the can of paint. Oops. I stood there and let a lot of it drip back into the can and then I reached down and brushed the rest off into the can. Then when I came up I hit my head on the shelf of the ladder. O.k. you can quit laughing now.
Never a dull moment around here.
Beadboard wallpaper was purchased at our local Ace Hardware.
The cost for the beadboard wallpaper was $19.99 each for two rolls and still have some leftover.
Real wood trim at the top was $30.00 and tube of caulk was around $2.00.
The most expensive thing was the Benjamin Moore paint at $50 for the gallon, but I still have more than a quarter of the can left over.

Love it Kim....I have used beadboard wallpaper before too and I love it!....I can not tell the dif. either....$19.99 is a great price for 2 rolls where did you get that price, I ordered from the manufacturers and they charge $30 a roll....just wondering who your resource was...thanks for sharing!

Awesome way to go Kim. The beadboard in our farm got painted white but the painters didn't realize that pine will bleed through after a few years if it isn't primered really good, all the knot holes show through now and it needs kilzed then painted, yuck big job...you did it right!
ReplyDeleteOk Ms. Kim, spill the beans ... where did ya get the wallpaper from? I'm wanting to add beadboard to my kitchen too and I'm not wanting to do all the cutting around electrical plates. Plus, $19 is a great incentive : )
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Kim! I have used beadboard wallpaper before.. but I think they must have gotten better at making it- yours looks amazingly real! Cute story about the paint can and ladder... sounds just like something I would do! lol! :)

I want beadboard in my bath and he just put the wider baseboards in there and said........nope, not redoing.Tried to tell him the wallpaper beadboard looked identical, he didn't believe me.....When he sees your kitchen post, he will be convinced!!! I would have never guessed beadboard wallpaper. I didn't even know such a thing was made. It looks great and if you ever get tired of it, it would be really easy to take down. Thanks for getting the sun to come out. I'm ready to work in the yard.

I have two rolls of it (that we bought at Home Depot) that have been sitting in our master closet ... was supposed to have done our bath a year ago with it ... oops, have yet to get it done! ReplyDeleteIt does look great. We used the real tounge in groove stuff throughout the house. Let me tell you, in the winter with the heat on you get some shrinkage and I hate it...then when it warms up and gets humid it goes back to normal. It is really hard to tell that is paper beadboard...and if you DO get tired of it you can always remove it! I think it is kind of soft backed? Does it "dent" at all? It looks beautiful, Kim...and MyHero is a perfectionist too about stuff like that- drives me crazy (in some ways)...xxoo Diana

ReplyDeleteI was putting bead board wallpaper up the same time you were. I ordered mine from Home Depot and the quality is fabulous. It was so easy to put up, I did it myself. My husband loves it.

ReplyDeleteHi, Kim you probably remember what a HUGE fan I am of beadboard wallpaper too & used it in several spots in my B'ham house. Love the stuff! I used the Graham Brown version which looks like yours too, I think it is the best one of all. Looks SO real. Your area looks great, fantastic look & so easy to put up.

I think I've use the word fabulous several times now in reference to your kitchen...;) I would have never known it was wallpaper it looks so real and I just finished installing beadboard so I've been up close and personal with it the last few days. ReplyDeleteI used Martha's BB wallpaper in my kitchen. I was concerned at first since it's the first wallpaper I have used that isn't prepasted and it was SOOOOO easy! I was so impressed with myself, no handy man needed here!
