This is an antique chest in the foyer. Guess I should have started in the foyer in the first post, but hey, I do things backwards.
Here is another look at that chest from the dining room.
Here is a long shot of the foyer from the dining room.
This is a bench she has in the other side of the foyer.
She has several live plants.
This is the newly painted dining room.
The sideboard was purchased at the consignment shop, but it still wasn't cheap. It is by Hickory Chair.
I covered these chairs for her.
I went furniture shopping with her a couple of years ago for this Hooker table and chairs.
Antique chest on the other side that holds linens, silver and china.
Window treatment that she had custom made many years ago.
See that picture over there on the wall?
Let's move in a little closer. Can you see what it is?
This is a penguin and its baby. My aunt (mom's sister) is a photographer as a hobby and she went to Antarctica a couple of times and got shots of the march of the penguins. She has had some of her work published in magazines.
This one is on the other side of the room.
Here is a better look of the actual march.
My aunt has traveled all over to take pictures. She has taken several African trips. She sells her photography on line and all the proceeds go to cancer research.
My mom purchased these and then had them custom framed. I love the way they turned out.
Enjoy the weekend,
Kim
Kim, your mom's home is gorgeous. I see some of the same colors that you use. She has impeccable taste. Beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteYour Mom's house is fabulous. I could move right in there and feel at home!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Oh, I want to be your aunt! Can you imagine how exciting that would be, to go all over and photograph nature and such? Well Kim, the one difference I can definitely see in you two's decorating styles is that she doesn't paint all the wood! Kind of makes me not feel as bad, since I'm not a good painter and thus don't really try. (Therefore you see more plain wood in my house.)

I love your Mom's home. It is warm and comfortable feeling-now I know where you get your love of color and that "settled" feeling in your house....I think you are following right in your Mama's footprints.
ReplyDeleteThose penguin photos are fantastic. They have always kind of fascinated me and how special that your Aunt did them.
Kim, your mom's house is just lovely and I can see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Your aunt's photography is amazing and the fact that she gives back makes it even more wonderful!

ReplyDeleteYour mom's home is gorgeous. Your both are talented ladies! I love that sideboard in her dining room. She has lovely taste. Your aunt is an amazing photographer. My Mom adored penguins. Penguins and birds so remind me of my Mom. I lost my Mom not long ago to cancer and would love information from you on purchasing a photo from your aunt. The penguins have a soft spot in my heart and I am passionate about donating to cancer research. Happy weekend, Kim.

Good taste and fabulous style runs in your family (unlike mine - where it seems to run FROM the family!). Those photos are priceless.

O, Kim, your mom's home looks beautiful. You got a lot of talent from her, I think.:)
ReplyDeleteLovely. I can see where you got your great sense of style. However the big difference I can see between you and your mom is that you don't seem to share the live of painted pieces. But she does have quite a few antiques that probably shouldn't be painted (unless you're me and do it anyway!). I love the penguin pictures! Those are amazing!
ReplyDeleteMorning Kim
ReplyDeleteYour Mom's home is Wonderful and Beautiful. I think I can see where you got some of your decorating talents, unless of course, you did all her decorating. I used to do a lot for my Mother-in-law, so know that could be a possiblity too!
