I put together this side by side so you could see the difference in the shades of white. The top is the new soft vanilla color and the bottom is the old harsh white.
Changed a few things around on the shelves, of course. The large clock that I had on the bottom shelf has been replaced with my rooster tray from the kitchen.
On the other side.
I really wish y'all could stand in this room and see the difference with the new color.
Mr. Savvy loves it. I didn't distress them since the mantel is already distressed. I did try it on a door and it just looked dirty so we decided to just keep them clean. They are waxed with clear wax.
Now it is time to see what you have to share this week.

Love the new shade, Kim! I just got my Old White in the mail today and I'm really looking forward to trying it out on that headboard I got. Thanks for your tips on that, too, by th way!
ReplyDeleteIt looks good, you can really tell the difference in the color! You always know how to make something good even better!
ReplyDeleteLacy
I like the new color!! What company's chalk paint are you using? Thanks so much for hosting!
ReplyDeleteJust linked up & am hopeing to leave this comment. I have had trouble with Blogger and I have been unable to leave comments all day. Mostly it just takes me in circles. They say they are working on it, and it doesn't seem to be a problem for all.
Isn't it amazing how many different shades of white there are? It can really be overwhelming when you look at all of the choices! I love the creamy chalk paint color - very soft and subtle!
ReplyDeleteEvery thing looks great Kim. I love the softer white. Thanks for hosting this fun party every week.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the color of the shelf units!! They look stunning!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
Love how you don't have to sand or prime with this paint! Sometimes, a clean look without distressing is a better choice. When we were at the furniture market, we didn't see much distressing. The big, hot finish was the weathered gray look. Like the look of your bookcase re-do.
ReplyDelete~ Sue
I could quite happily live in that room! It's gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteYou've done a wonderful job on your book shelves. I love the color and I also love what you have on display.
hugs

ReplyDeleteWell, I got brave and joined in! Thanks for the party!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's hard to tell the difference in a photograph, but I know how soft a creamy white can be. Much easier on the eyes. I have my whole house painted a very creamy white. The house came that way and for years I wanted to paint everything white! Now I'm glad I didn't.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. You're going to get a kick out of my post. Needless to say, my house is not photo-shoot worthy! ~Delores
