I recently purchased a turtle shell from the antique mall and have mixed it with some other things from nature on my coffee table in the great room. I had received an email a couple of days ago from Williams Sonoma Home about items from nature for the home and I had already done this. Here are a
The turtle shell was $22 and one set of antlers were found on our property.
Love the mix of textures: woven wicker, bone, glass, and the turtle shell.
The old nickel cola bottle was found by Mr. Savvy many years ago.
Don't pay $39 for fake coral from Pottery Barn. I purchased this real coral for $12 at the antique market.
I placed the coral on this pedestal which originally holds a glass vase with a lid that is a old Southern Living at Home piece that my sister used to sell.
I also picked up this little fellow at the antique shop. I am really loving dog items.
Just look at that face.
So how have you used nature in your home?
Have a super weekend!
KIM

I just love this. Speaks of summer and days outdoors. Lots of texture.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Kim, I love all the details and color combinations. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove that little doggie...I saw this post yesterday then about 2 minutes later everything was gone...it was almost like Christmas this a.m. wondering if I was going to wake up to my bloggers or not...oh oh I think I have an addiction problem!
ReplyDeleteHI Kim, I realized something was up with blogger yesterday when I went to leave a comment on your post and it wouldn't allow it...I had to reload my post as well.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say I have a little dog collection too. Actually it is the hubs from a long time ago and recently it has found its way into the man cave. I think they are charming too. I love the nature inspired theme you have going on.
Love the subtle colors and textures you have brought in with your nature theme. Your pictures are perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! Such beautiful photos. Love your nature collection and the sweet puppy.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you mentioned you had a blogger problem too. I posted yesterday and then last evening, kept getting "Blogger is not accessible now" windows when I would try to link on to the blog. Then today, my post vanished! As did all the comments I left for people! WhaaAAaat?
Thanks for sharing. Glad to know it is not just me. ;)
xx

Your coffee table looks very nice!!! I think it is the perfect tutorial for mixing textures. *awesome* I not only lost some posts and some that I had written but not posted, I also lost a button that took me forever to make!!! I am sick about it!!! :-(

I was able to view this lovely post yesterday Kim, but we know there was troubles! I love the natural elements and they look wonderful on your coffee table.
ReplyDeleteKim, Love your coffee table vignette with the turtle shell. I love all things natural and you made a beautiful arrangement with the antlers, coral and bottles.
ReplyDeleteHope Blogger has it's problems sorted out now.
Have a great weekend,
Babs
Beautiful decor! Wish I could find some real coral for a good price! I find shells sometimes...and that makes me happy! ♥
ReplyDeletePretty vignette!
ReplyDeleteI lost my last post also.
Enjoy your weekend.
You can display things like no one else I know, Ms. Kim. (By the way, I just mentioned you in my post, kidding around.) I just checked and in my drafts my last post that is missing from yesterday is still in draft mode. Hope you didn't have to re-write this from scratch. If they don't get mine back on, I may just re-publish it because of it being WWF.

gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteBlogger was about to put me over the edge yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI will admit I do not have much natute in the home.
I need to!
Have a pretty day!

Kim, love your nature photographs in your home, they are really wonderful. We have quite a few nature items, sometimes I think too many, husband says, not!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
Kim,
ReplyDeleteI love your nature in the home. It is very fun to have this vignette. I like to use things like this a lot. Thanks for linking it up!
Sherry
What beautiful natural treasures, Kim. They all go so well together.
ReplyDeleteSince I live at the ocean I use seashells, sea glass, stones, driftwood and found bottles around our home.
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Well, I have a couple of "wild ones" coming over to spend the night-does that count?
ReplyDeleteI love thatold bottle that Mr.Savvy found! And, I think it is funny that you can buy the REAL THING as opposed to an imitation (coral) for about 1/3 the price!!!
And...as for the tortoise shell...well, I think you need a hare skin (rabbit) lying next to it to complete the old fable! Just a thought~ Diana
Kim, what a gorgeous post, and so delightfully new and different than we're seeing lately around blog land. I love the natural elements, and thanks for the tip on the coral. I'm the sort like you, I peek the catalogs then go find it on the cheap. One would never know with your vignettes either. Love your style, tami
ReplyDeleteGlad blogger is ok now. You have found the perfect combination of things here. Love the bottles, books, coral and shell....
ReplyDeleteYou really know how to put it all together. I love the coral! I have one exactly like that on my side table for the summer. Love the look you've created with the bottles and tortoise shell.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Kim! :D ~M
All of your items are wonderful, but I am totally in love with the new dog - it looks just like my Bentley! Precious!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful uses of nature Kim! I love it. That turtle shell is wonderful. We are all about fresh flowers here, especially when they are from the garden. My dad never let us pick the garden flowers, so of course I grow many just to pick!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in the turtle shell.
ReplyDeleteBenita
Lovely, Kim. And I like the rooster pillow too!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe textures, combos and whole look is stunning!
ReplyDeleteRoselle
Wonderful use of different elements, Kim !! Love the bottles ... Mr. Savvy has great taste. And, love how you perched the coral perched on the SL pedestal !!
ReplyDeletei was freakin' out that blogger might lose all of our posts ... kinda surreal ...
ReplyDeleteyour natural vignettes are so styln'
great scale and propportion
No one in the world can put together things like you, Kim. This is all so so pretty. As you know, I'm not a fan of antlers and such but everything looks amazing when YOU work with them.
ReplyDeleteI lost a complete post..draft and all. I thought I might be going nuts but when I went back to deleted email, I found all the comments.
Crazy....
As always, your vignettes look amazing! I love to use natural elements as much as possible, but sometimes they have to be "faux" natural.....lol! I think that's okay, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat combo, Kim... love the rough, natural textures of it all. Great way to bring in nature, I'll show this off in my "visiting other nests' feature today!
ReplyDeleteKim...first of all your photography skills are getting SO dang good!!! Second...do you lie awake at night thinking of what to change at your house???? If you do then we are somehow related :)
ReplyDeleteLove the turtle shell and all the elements in your vignette! I just did a post on a cowhide and alligator boots that I bought ~ how's that for nature? :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi
I love everything Kim! You always inspire me to think outside the box with my accessorizing. :-) Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Inspiration Friday this week!
ReplyDeleteVanessa
So pretty as always Kim. I love the green bottles mixed with your natural pieces. Did your post come back? Mine popped back up but minus all comments for the couple of days. Thanks for sharing at my party :)

ReplyDeleteLove the turtle shell with the antlers. Beautiful images too.
ReplyDeleteKim, your tray is fabulous and I love your shell, it is so unique and the entire vignette is wonderful. Love that little dog figurine. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOh heck, now my family is really gonna think I am crazy-they kind of did when I bought the antlers-but just wait till I find that turtle shell and bring it home! But I really like this and I must copy it!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I love these ideas. The centerpiece looks fantastic and I really want a turtle shell =) Thanks so much for linking to the Sunday Showcase Party - I greatly appreciate it. I have featured this today. Enjoy the rest of your week ~ Stephanie Lynn
