This is what he was referring to and they were not in this spot, since this is all a mess right now with my new project, but they are sitting very close to his chair so he noticed them. In fact the house is a MESS!
Why is it that when we start a project the house becomes a wreck to do it? Not to mention my hands are a wreck and I badly need a pedicure.
He said that they were very real looking even though they aren't of course. I know many don't like faux flowers, but sometimes they just work.
I was just shocked that he said anything at all about this. I guess it took them being in front of him to notice.
Who are you and what did you do with Mr. Savvy?
Do your husbands notice the decor and comment on it?
Well, I must get back to work and finish this project. It is going to be a long day.
KIM
My husband doesn't usually notice when I make changes till weeks or months later. On the rare occasion that he does notice, I am like you and I wonder "Who are you?"! Funny. You are right, sometimes they just work. Pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy husband didn't even notice when I had a haircut let alone change the decor. Hence the reason he is now an ex- husband ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut you're right sometimes the faux flowers do work and on this occasion they do, love the vase too.
Yes, my husband notices things and does comment. He appreciates the house looking beautiful. I have a lot of friends who can not pick out or do anything to their house without their husband agreeing to it. Not me, my husband is great. He lets me do anything I want including the colors of the walls, furniture, landscaping, etc. I am truly fortunate.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the same way, sometimes it's day's before he notices a change! OK Kim now you have me curious on what your working on, don't keep us waiting to long:) Martina
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny. No the DH doesn't notice unless it is something that I have to have his help with, then after he grumbles while doing the work, he always says the end result looks great. Men. Can't wait to see the new project. Oh, and I sure could use a manicure and pedicure too. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteJ is pretty good to notice when I change something, which is amazing since I am forever changing something!;-)
ReplyDeleteI did a rustic tablescape in the breakfast room the other day. Took photos of course and have a post in draft. J saw the table and liked it, but actually said Wow! when I showed him the pictures. That meant a lot to me.
I like to use faux flowers, especially airy branches.
Oh yes, my husband notices. I just painted our bedroom furniture and he hasn't seen it yet because he's out of town. I can't wait to see his reaction when he gets home.
ReplyDeleteYour husband is right. It is really pretty! Love the green vase! My husband almost always notices when I change stuff, which means there is no sneaking new stuff into to this house! :)
ReplyDeleteMr. Flea does not notice things like that at all...that's why I get away with so much! lol....
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that makes him take notice is... if something is in his way or if something appears to be dangerously perched. Men! I think it was endearing that Mr. Savvy noticed your arrangement...faux blossoms or not! :)
It's always nice when Hubby notices things Kim. And your Dogwood Branches do look real, and lovely in that rustic green vase. He's right!
ReplyDeleteMy husband does notice and it's nice. He also gets annoyed with the little decorating I do, or that I want to buy certain things he deems "junk" but then when it's up and displayed he comments on how nice it turned out, or how it looks.
Hi Kim-
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband notices things right away then I know he likes it or it turned out well. My daughter's and I have a game we play when something new is added to the house- we guess how long it will take him to notice. It usually takes him about a week or two to say - "When did that get there" or something along those lines. We always get a good laugh.
My best- Diane
Ugh, that would be a NO! The only thing my hubby would notice is someone laying nekked as Sheila would say....and then again, if NCIS is on...he wouldn't notice that either!!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby notices most stuff. The things that go unnoticed....I usually point them out to get his feedback. He gives me full reign of the house, which is nice. I have the tendancy toward the 'artsy-farty-what-the-heck-are-you-thinking" decorating decisions and it humors him!;) He likes that about me and it makes it that much more of an open arena for me to express myself! Love him.:)
ReplyDeleteOh... that's too funny! My husband is the exact same way. He rarely notices things but now and then he will give a compliment. I'm pretty fortunate that he lets me do almost all of the decorating. His style revolves around a leather chair, remote and big t.v. , haha! I think your Dogwood looks very life like. I use silk Forsythia branches and love them all the same.
ReplyDeleteHave a good rest of your weekend :)
Mr. Savvy gives me mostly full reign over the home decorating, too thank goodness. I would be afraid of what it would look like if he did it.
ReplyDeleteLOL..that is cute Kim. Hey I love those kind of faux flowers...Pier I has awesome ones. They do look real and very pretty in the green vase!
ReplyDeleteKim, my husband notices just about everything..and always says "Is this new? How much did it cost me?". *sigh*
ReplyDeletemy husband sometimes notices changes , but I admit he usually doesn't care a bit about decor or my art..as long as the house is clean the laundry is caught up, and food is prepared at the time he is hungry...OOOO that man! now Im mad
ReplyDeleteThe Great Dane rarely notices change, but he always notices when the house has been just-tidied. Now you may think we live in a mess, and we don't - but I love it that he likes the feeling of a just-tidied room.
ReplyDeleteHe's right they look perfect...I changed the huge round metal clock from above the fireplace to a big beautiful picture that I love (he loved the clock) and it was 3 days before he noticed! He has said before, that he loves how women have a knack for making a house a home and appreciates that! Sounds like your Mr does too.
ReplyDeleteHaha this post made me chuckle. Men are funny arent they. I must admit my boyfriend isnt to bad at noticing things, whther they interest him is another matter entirely
ReplyDeletehaha. Usually mine doesn't notice anything new...until a month later he will ask..."is that different?"
ReplyDeleteand our house looks like a bomb went off whenever a project is underway, unfortunately.
That is why I put off projects because it wrecks the rest of the house. Every time I do a project....the kitchen gets destroyed because I end up getting stuff out and putting it all over the counters. Even my little pom pom project...I had bits of tissue paper everywhere.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm doing a painting project and stuff is all over the kitchen counter again. Makes me wish for a studio so much.
I think the branches are lovely and they don't look fake. Last time I brought in real branches....I brought in bugs as well....so I won't be doing that again. So I think faux is just fine.
Those branches must have been blocking his view of the tv for him to notice them.
Those branches are really pretty, it's no wonder he mentioned them! Every once in awhile, my husband will notice things, but it's usually 3 weeks after! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, my DH does notice when things are different. It's me that doesn't notice if he brings in something new for me to see. lol
ReplyDeleteThis is such a funny post My husband just said something similar about a piece of furniture I moved recently. He almost never says anything, so I did the double take, too. I think I'd rather have him not notice things until I'm done. My works in progress usually don't make any sense until I'm through. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeletehaha, yesterday Lynn secretly was looking at my blog roll. How do I know because, he said "hey, have you seen this waterfall on never enough Thyme! He can't make fun of me anymore!
ReplyDeleteIt's a rare day... in fact a blue moon, no wait... once a century that my husband says he likes anything about the decor. You should have recorded your husband's comment, then you could have played it back when you needed to hear it.
ReplyDeleteLOL
DI
I had to smile because I am getting ready to post something and it has to do with "faux" flowers/greenery. You must have been channeling my mind!
ReplyDeleteI love it, too. Great catch, Mr. Savvy! They do look real.
My house is a mess too. I have been trying to do some projects plus I worked all 5 days last week. Doesn't leave much time if you still want to sleep every night!
LOL!I think men are all the same. I have to call John's attention to take a look at my tablescape or he won't even notice.....Christine
ReplyDeletehahaha! Once in awhile he does! :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband usually notices eventually. Thankfully, he doesn't have a strong opinion about decorating, so he is just happy that I'm doing something I love.
ReplyDeleteOne time we were out shopping and I asked him to stop at my favorite furniture store. I was looking at sofas and he said, "I didn't even know we wanted a new sofa!" We still laugh about that one.
Yes, he's a very good natured guy.
I had to laugh at this post, because my husband is the exact same way. It must be right in front of him for him to "really" notice. Usually I have to point out things I've changed, or new things I've added. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOk, what are you up to now...I'm dying to know! ;)
I love the dogwood branches, very pretty and I love the green vase.
Until your next post...XOXO ~Liz
Evan EVENTUALLY notices... sometimes. LOL! I have a friend whose husband has a strong opinion about every nuance of their decor... I thank goodness, everytime I think about that, that Evan doesn't really care that much! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLike Michelle commented about the chair , tv and remote, Mr. K would be happy with just that:) He pretty much lets me do what I want, like today I saw four outdoor chairs in the Sunday paper and showed it to him (also told him how nice they would look) and he said go buy them...so I did!
ReplyDeleteLove the dogwoods in the vase and it's nice that your husband noticed and made sure you heard his compliment. :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom once painted their hallway and my dad didn't notice it for THREE years! There are times I wished my husband was less observant but I do appreciate that he notices and comments on my projects.
They are pretty. I like faux flowers. If I had a staff & gardens like Martha Stewart then maybe I'd banish the fakes, lol. But if I want flowers everywhere, some are going to have to be faux.
ReplyDeleteYes, my husband notices the decor some. I ask his opinion and some deco stuff is a team decision, like when it comes to art pottery or antique placement.
That's so funny! My husband brought a petal from a pansy in this afternoon and kept exclaiming about how beautiful it was "like a painting". What happening!!!
ReplyDeleteManuela
My hubby notices, but usually after a couple of months he'll ask me, "Is that new?".....
ReplyDeleteMy husband only notices if I move the furniture especially HIS chair. LOL!!! Then again he will say something like, "where did that come from?" Well honey it has been right in that spot for the past year! And it really has.
ReplyDeleteMy husband notices nothing. Zero. Nada. I gave up years ago even asking him for an opinion. He didn't have any of those either. I look at it like this...at least I can do whatever I want in the house without consulting him. I guess that's looking at the glass as half full! Don't work TOO hard...~Ann
ReplyDeleteSince I have been a stay-at-home wife and mother for the last 11 years, my hubby is used to coming home to change. When he spots something out of place or new, he then says, "okay, what have YOU been up to today?" Probably a new project, a lot like you!
ReplyDeleteNope, my husband never notices and rarely comments. We've been married almost 22 years now and he is completely used to seeing things swirl around the rooms. Nothing phases him....which is good and bad.
ReplyDeleteBad when you have worked your behind off to make something look new and wonderful (hopefully!) and he doesn't notice or comment on all your hard work. BAD!
But GOOD when you've spent some money on something you probably shouldn't have and he doesn't even realize it wasn't even there the day before. LOL!
But when he does.... I say, "Whaaat? that old thing?" :)
Great post.
xx
Alison
Anxious to see what you are working on!
Mr. Sissie is so used to me dragging in stuff and working on projects that he very rarely notices anything new. If he does, it is usually a month or two later! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI do love the vase of flowers.
hugs
Sissie
Kim, You are too funny! My DH notices sometimes... sometimes not, but he's very supportive of any changes I make. It's nice to have the hubbys notice and make compliments, but just think...it's not a bad thing if they don't always notice because then you can do what you want and he doesn't realize how much money is being spent..LOL
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week.
Babs
The Hunter notices everything and moves most of around or lets me know what is wrong. Rarely do I hear..Wow, that looks great!
ReplyDeleteUh, when it is something he's not too pleased with, he'll say something mostly. That's when they usually notice. When it gets in their way or isn't where it was! I don't blame you. Have you checked to make sure it's not an imposter? Maybe he has a twin.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I think my husband would notice if I gave him a chance. I just so excited and usually drag him to whatever project I am working on and ask him what he thinks. He doesn't have any major complaints/opinions as long as I don't ask him to help out :).
ReplyDeleteMy hubs is riciculously observant but he doesn't say much about the decorating. If I ask him if something looks good I get "whatever you do looks good". Yeh ok!
