Many of you guessed that it would hang in this room.
I added some new pillows to the bed and I purposely have them kind of strewn on there instead of lined up in neat little rows. Wanted it more casual.
I won a couple of nautical style pillows recently from Sherry at Design Indulgence amongst some other items in a giveaway she had. The blue and yellow one is one of them.
This is the other one I won. I just love them.
I found this plaid pillow by Nautica at a flea market for cheap and added it to the mix.
This pillow with the dog is still one of my favorites. It was the starting point for this room design.
I know a lot of people don't like themed rooms, but I think in a guest room it is fine. I say have fun.
This framed vintage suit that was over the bed has moved over here. Sorry about the bad glare on the shadowbox. The armoire will not look like this for long. Another paint project coming on along with a couple of other changes in this room. I will share as I get things done.
I sure hope y'all have a wonderful week!
Joining the following:
Cor blimey Kim, it was worth all the trouble hanging it, it looks WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteI love your themed room :o)
Have a great week.

The room looks great Kim. Loving that framed shirt and bathing suit. I think theme rooms are great when well done and yours certainly is. That armoire is a gorgeous piece, I know it will look even better once you apply your touch.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful and a theme is fine when it is of something so personal and reflex the ppl that live in the house.
ReplyDeletePlus yours is not over the top theme, but done with the right amount of restraint.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings Kelsie
Glad you got it hung because it looks awesome! Perfect with the decor on the bed.
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
It looks awesome Kim! You did such a nice job. I bet Mr. Savvy likes it too.
ReplyDeleteThe suit on the wall is adorable! Where on earth did you find that?
ReplyDeleteDi
Looks so crisp and pretty in there, Kim! I bet you'll have that granddaughter in there with a paint brush in her hand just about any time now.
ReplyDeleteBrenda

ReplyDeleteI think your guest room looks fabulous!!Glad you got it up there ok!I love all your pillows.Everything looks wonderful.Any guest would love staying in there. It's so cheerful.
ReplyDeleteKathy
It suits the room perfectly, Kim! I love how it looks hanging over the bed with the nautical pillows below on the bed. I've been using those OOK {I think that's what they are called} hooks. I use them myself and when I'm hanging things for clients. They work very well and I haven't had a problem. They come in different sizes for different weights.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful in here Kim. Can't believe you won those pillows! They are perfect in this room.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing...I saw that armoire and thought to myself, wonder if she'll paint that? Then went on to see that was in the plans! :)
Hi Kim...
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous, my friend! Of course, the shaddow box with the navy uniform is just perfect for this pretty room! I really do love what you have done in this room, Girlfriend! This room is one of my favs!!! Love, love, LOVE IT!!!

Beee-yoo-ti-full! The whole room is totally see-worthy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like picture hanging at our house...when in doubt use a big ol nail!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great hanging there and I love the pillows you have on the bed.
Love the results! I can just hear the growling from Mr. S as you were getting that honey-do done! What they go through! He should be proud to have it up there looking so spiffy! Love the madras plaid pillow the best of all...it just screams summer to me! Great job!
ReplyDeletelove this room, kim! it's just the perfect touch of nautical, seaside decor. i don't mind themed rooms as long as some authentic vintage items are thrown in the mix. those sailing flag pillows you won are great.
ReplyDeletei have that exact nautica pillow and a matching tablecloth (to use as fabric) that i may use as decor in a small room off our diningroom. you've given me some ideas to borrow!
what a sweet story ...
ReplyDeletehey, I have a mr. savvy, too
you might enjoy the story of the wedding budget
It looks really great hanging there, perfect for your room!
ReplyDeletehere is a question...on another blog the blogger showed a beloved piece of furniture and said a paintbrush would never come near it....and then this blogger (cant remember who, i follow too many) asked the question, if there a piece in your home you would never paint?
ReplyDeleteso, i'm curious, and pose that question to you, is there any piece of beautiful wood you will let stand on its own?...or is any piece fair game?
Love the room and all its elements Kim. The new pillows add such color and your shadow box looks perfect over the bed. Hopefully the nails will hold and no one will get clunked in the head in the middle of the night.
ReplyDeleteYour ordeal sounds like something that would happen to me...including the words. :o) It looks great and your perseverance paid off.
ReplyDeleteRemember to stop by my blog on Tuesday to enter my giveaway.
Have a great week! La
It's perfect for this room. I love the new pillows also and the swim suit is just so cute. Very pretty room. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great there, Kim. Love the casual mix of pillows and the feel of the entire room. I noticed the little suitcase stand, something I still need to find.
ReplyDeleteIt is just perfect for this room Kim! Looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteKimberly, good question. There are several pieces that have not been painted and will not be painted. The antique armoire in the dining room is one that will probably not get painted. There are a couple I would like to paint, but the Mr. says no. So some will not be painted.
ReplyDeleteI love that shadowbox!!! It is so special and your room is perfect. Have a beautiful week!!!
ReplyDeleteWe do have some of the same things LOL My husband bought me the red drapes some time last year.
ReplyDeleteSTILL love this room!! It just gets better and better. Mr. Savvy's uniform is the perfect addition! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteas much as i hate the trend of painting everything right now, i've never seen anything you painted that didnt turn out beautifully....you have a definite knack for it!
ReplyDeletethe cracker jack is wonderful, and close to my heart as my husband and i are both USN vets.
I love your themed room!!! I think that they are the most fun to decorate, too. LOVE what you did with the shadow box and all of the wonderful pillows. Just hands downs too wonderful! I have the same flag folk art guy that is on your shelf. Bought it for our theme room, too.

It may not be popular but I like some themed rooms and I LOVE this one. I, too, have a THING for pillows and the ones on the bed are perfect! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI have to say the first thing I noticed, beside the navy suit of course, was the Black Dog pillow from Marthas Vineyard company...my son worked on one of their schooners for a summer. At least I think it is one of their designs, or it is a great copy! The room is so great, I love a themed room done with class, and that is what you have done here Kim.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love themed rooms Kim and yours is so sweet! I'd love to come for a stay!!!
ReplyDeleteHope your week is wonderful,
Cindy
Hi Kimmie! I've missed coming to see you! I love your guest room and Mr. Savvy's sailor suit looks great! I hope it stays on the wall too or your guests will greet you in the morning with knots on their heads! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just a fan of everything you do.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Kim, I love how Mr. Savvy's Navy shirt turned out. It's so nice to have things in your home that have meaning to your family. It looks great and I really like the new pillows you got. I was looking at your little shelves again and thinking... again that I'd put some in our guest room hoping to give it some interest other than pictures on the wall.Right now I'm looking for a small seagrass runner for the entry hall.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Babs
What a darling room. Such a treasure to have hanging above the bed. I agree a room should feel fun, themed or not. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable room, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI love the shirt there..looks fantastic.
You get so much done...I so need to get started on my guest room..maybe next week. :))
xo bj
It looks wonderful, Kim. I think that a themed room is a great idea for a guest room - after all, when I'm a guest I like to stay somewhere completely different from home.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Kim! Any suggestions for displaying a winter cape (about hip length) from the Civil War?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking room Kim, you have great taste with all kinds of decor....Happy Monday
ReplyDeletePattie
Kim,
ReplyDeleteIt was totally worth the time and effort. Your husbands Navy uniform looks stunning there.

My nautical lovin' self is crazy about this whole room...I love it! The uniform is the perfect icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteIt was worth all the banging, holes and "choice words" because it looks great !! And, the pillows are fun and add perfect nautical color. This themed-room is such a great guest retreat!
ReplyDeletePerfect spot and room for that Kim! Love it!
ReplyDelete-heather
Sounds all to familiar when I have something heavy and need a little help, lots of words. BUT, worth all the work. The end results are amazing. I love the look and the box turned out perfect. I'm sure your Mr. is very proud of this. Perfect room to showcase. This is a great tutorial........

ReplyDeleteway to honor Mr. Savvy with a piece of his past. Love it!
Awesome room! I wanna come visit...it's so fresh and clean, of course those colors sing "fresh". I think the navy shirt just made the room. Those pillows rock! Funny how you can spot a Nautica design from across the room, that fabric has always been a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteThe lamps are perfect too, love the red shades :)
Kim...I am so glad you were able to use the pillows! They look great and I was happy when you won them! Can't wait to see the armoire.....hmmmm wonder what color? Blue and white stripe? Don't keep us guessing for to long!
ReplyDeleteWhen can I make a reservation at your bed and breakfast ;)?
ReplyDeleteI love that it's your husband's shirt! What a cool touch to an already awesome room.

ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses,

Kim, I would say it looks just smashing, but that might not be a good choice of words with all the trouble it took to hang it!
ReplyDeleteI love to hear how rooms get their design inspiration, and yours with the dog pillow is priceless!
This looks fantastic in this room Kim!
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew you where having problems hanging it. I would have told you my hubby's way of hanging heavy stuff on drywall. At our last home that was new he was so paranoid to hang heavy shelves or mirrors so what he does is first nails a narrow piece of wood into the wall as an anchor and attaches everything to that. You know those oval swivel mirrors in bathrooms? He did this first and it was rock solid. We have had too many towel bars etc . rip from the drywall.
Kim, Mr.Savvy's Navy shirt looks great in it's new home I bet he loves it! Love all your new pillows too! Martina
ReplyDeleteWow!! This room is amazing! And adding the hubbies old uniform shirt was just brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI was in the Navy too. So, I really appreciate the sentiment behind hanging it. :)
Kim this is such a great room. I love the idea of hanging the Navy uniform shirt. I would love to do this at my parents house. They live on the water and although my dad was a Marine, my brother was a Sailor. You did such a great job with the pillows!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
