This is the sad shape the deck was in. All painted now and you will see it soon. Now lets look at the flowers I just planted. I am so late filling these pots this year.
Since the colors inside are mostly greens, reds, yellows, and white that is what I filled the pots with to carry the color inside to the outside and vice versa.
I told the guy at the nursery that I needed plants that can stand the heat. Extreme heat. Already don't remember the name of this one since I threw the tag away.
I used petunias in red and white, marigolds, and red vinca.
Love this hanging basket. This nursery's prices were probably half of Home Depot or Lowes.
This is portaluca that is just starting to open up in the morning when I was taking pictures. They close up each night.
My copper watering can will get plenty of use.
I still have so much to do
chairs to paint, refreshments to prepare,
and UNWANTED GUESTS to get rid of!!
Wouldn't want any of you to get stung!
So a few more things to get done before the big summer blockg party.
Hope you will join us.

This party will be in place of the Wow us Wednesdays party next week and there will be a chance to win prizes for those who link up.
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
Love the new color of the deck, can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteThings are looking lovely at your place! I'll take a glass of lemonade please :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Kim! I had to laugh at the hornets nest. Oh, no. Is it full of hornets or abandon? Very unwelcome indeed. My neighbor keeps bees, and he had a bunch swarm off about a month ago and now they are happily at home in a hole in one of my trees! I am not so happy about it, but they are about thirty feet up and they don't bother us. We just see a few more bees buzzing amongst the blossoms. LOL

ReplyDeleteBeautiful containers...I believer you yellow flower to be melampodium. Is that large hanging container bacopa?
ReplyDeleteKim, your pots look lovely! I have those same yellowish-gold flowers. Can't recall what it is either! Portulaca is one of my favs, because it can stand up to heat. And to spread it all over the garden, all you have to do is snip off a piece and stick it in the dirt!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Kim, can't wait to see it all finished. See you on Wednesday. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteLooking good! I'm glad you can't remember the names of flowers you buy either! I try to leave the little tag in the dirt. Feel like Minnie Pearl!
ReplyDeleteLove that copper watering can!... your petunias look perkier than mine.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get ready for the 22nd. Your flowers are lovely and you've given me some ideas. The large barrel type container is gorgeous. We are building a deck this summer and I'll have some plant boxes and I can't wait to fill them with plants too.

I'll be there on Wednesday. I've had hornet's nests like that before...scared me to death! My deck hasn't been stained yet but I'll try to disguise that when I'm taking the pics! Hope you have a great weekend. Get some rest!

Good Morning Kim,
ReplyDeleteIt is all coming together so beautifully!
We just painted our deck also and what a difference it makes.
Looking forward to the big party.

Looking so forward to the porch party. Ours is in disarray too so I will just be showing snippets of it. Love the unwanted decor on yours but I know you don't like what's inside...those things scare me. I did just put a bowl of nature's honeycombs on the kitchen table. Thought it might be fun for the grand girls to see when they come next week. See you in a few days. xo
ReplyDeleteLooks great, and so inviting!
ReplyDeleteportaluca is so pretty and freash looking I saw the starfish on your header and I think you would love some of the art my friend does ..check out my updated post from this May 25th about some art we are doing together we did a piece called "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" - it has a real sand base and I added a little starfish, blue crab and sand dollars to the new updated base for the beachy chef
ReplyDeleteKAT
Your flowers are looking great. I can't wait to see the deck; the peek of it we see is a tease.
ReplyDeleteMy deck is in need of some repairs and paint, for sure. I think the upcoming blogland party will be the impetus I need to get going on this. It will be so much fun seeing everyone's outdoor areas.
I love all of the color. The flowers are so lovely. Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the deck, looking so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to do about the nest??? We once had thousands of bees in our attic. Have a great weekend!
XO
kristin
The portulaca will naturalize and bloom even in weather that is hot as, well, hell. You'll be so pleased with it.
ReplyDeleteThings are looking lovely!
Kim, Your deck is lookin' good and I can't wait to see the final photos. Great containers and I love the copper watering can. What are you going to do with the hornets' nest? I haven't see one around my house in years. It's fun to look at them ..minus the hornets, of course.
ReplyDeleteHope you didn't have damage from the storm last night.
Happy Father's Day to Mr. Savvy,
Babs
