I cut and edged the grass early Thursday before it got too hot and then in the evening right before a rain shower I snapped these photos. The crepe myrtles are really beautiful and full this year. Every time I have to drive some where I see the prettiest blooms and colors. We only have white in the front.
Some of my verbena plants have died and I have pulled them out. This bit that is left is spilling over the rock wall. I don't know what killed the other plants. One day it looked good and then I noticed it was dying. Probably insects.
It has been so terribly hot this year and I know the flowers will start looking really pathetic in August. Better enjoy them now.
We are in Nashville with our son and family and on Saturday they are having a gender reveal cookout party to find out what baby # 3 is. They are expecting over fifty friends and neighbors. Should be lots of fun.
Very exciting to find out what the next grand will be, Kim! Your lawn looks wonderful, as always. You do a really nice job taking care of it. Our flowers are looking dry with all the heat and humidity we've been having here. I'm hoping we get some rain this weekend. Of course, somehow, the weeds just keep on thriving!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like lots of fun Kim! Enjoy your family time! I am loving your Myrtles!! We have always had Myrtles at every house we lived in till this house. We are still trying to figure out where to put a few but due to some power lines we just can not decide. We were sad to find out that after almost three years the new owners of our previous home ripped out three gorgeous Myrtles we had planted. They did not even replant them in the back yard. A neighbor said they just threw them away and they were getting soo big. She could not believe that they were doing that. Anyways, again have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have not been to a gender reveal party, but have heard of them and how much fun they are. Your yard is so pretty - like the wave like mow lines. Several of my flowers are dying out also.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
Your Crepe Myrtle tree is stunning. I love the beautiful white flowers. We had some in our home in Calif, and I just loved all the flowers. Your yard is stunning. Congrats on the new little one and can't wait to hear all about it. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOh that is going to be a fun Party Kim...I wonder if they are having twins..hmmmmmmmm??
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks great. The crepes here are so pretty and pink and full too. I like the white with your home.
I love your lawn and landscaping! Ours is still really young... established in 2008!
ReplyDeleteI just planted 2 two crepes last weekend, they are just babies compared to yours. Perhapas your crepes can send mine the memo to start growing! I envy that you have grandbabies... I'm 51 years old and STILL not a grandma!
Have a great time at the reveal!
very pretty yard and impressive mowing :)
ReplyDeleteYour Crepe Myrtle tree is beautiful! We have two in our front and they are just beginning to bloom. Ours are a deep pink.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at your reveal this weekend!
Kim your grounds always look beautiful!! Our crepe myrtles don't bloom until Aug. Yes I did say we have crepe myrtles here in the north! They are one of my hubby's favorites and he was determined to get them to grow here. We can't grow them as trees though only bushes but they still look beautiful! Enjoy your weekend with your family! That party sounds like so much FUN, can't wait to here all about it!! Martina
ReplyDeleteHi! I just so happen to have seen your ugly bird picture somewhere else today! I am vacationing at Bald Head Island, NC this week and one of the small shops on the island had your bird picture hanging out front! I walked up and said," I have seen that exact picture this morning on one of the blogs I follow". You got a bargain on your bird! The one I saw was $150. I will put a picture of it on my blog: Lucy's Lampshade, if you want to take a peek for yourself.
ReplyDeleteKim your yard is gorgeous! And white crepe myrtles are my favorite, they just look so fresh and cool when the weather is so darned hot! Have fun in Nashville at the baby gender reveal party...how exciting!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
I actually didn't know there were WHITE crepe myrtles! It is bveautiful!!! Your yard is always so beautiful, you do a GREAT job on it, Kim! Have a FUN party! We'll be dying to know what the ababy is! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteKim your yard is so gorgeous with its sweeping grass, I love it. How fun to find out who your new little grand child will be!! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness Kim, your yard is gorgeous! your lawn is perfect. it looks as if it's chevron patterned!!!
ReplyDeleteKim, Your yard looks fabulous...as usual, and my Homestead verbena has done the same as yours. Mine didn't do to well coming back from last year and now it isn't even blooming. Maybe I need to feed it again. It's supposed to be very hardy and mine looked great the first year it was put in but this year... not so good, in fact awful.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun and safe trip to Nashville.
Hugs,
Babs
I was looking for those pots that you planted a month or so ago..... They didn't make the pics. lol
ReplyDeleteLove those crepe myrtles. The white ones look cool & refreshing...I have a friend who has the gorgeous red ones (dynamite variety) and they are pretty too. When everything here is beginning to turn brown the myrtles are blooming in all their glory. 102 today.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the party - that should be a hoot!
How exciting! Can't wait until I am privileged to be a grandmother! Lovely garden! We have Crape Myrtle of various colors! Love them this time of year!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Kathy
Gender reveal party!! How cool is that?! Can't wait to hear the news! You lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks absolutely beautiful, Kim. ESPECIALLY with this brutal heat! Verbenas are always like that with me... they will be going along good and then out of the blue they just croak! I am not a verbena grower. Love 'em; just can't grow 'em!
Have tons of fun and we will be waiting to hear the news!! blessings ~ tanna
Beautiful home & yard! Great idea about the gender reveal party! Have a lovely weekend! xo

ReplyDeleteKAT
Your white crepes look better than mine, which have not fully produced blooms at any one time this year.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at your son's. You're somewhat in my neck of the woods now, as I live a little north of Nashville. Again, enjoy your visit.

Holy cow I LOVE your yard! I would be out there everyday! And that arch window is spectacular! When can I move in?
ReplyDeleteCrepe Myrtle are very popular here too. They're hardy and live easily in conditions in which lilacs won't.
ReplyDeleteYour yard is lovely.
Beautiful, and most definitely Southern. Funny story about crepe myrtles (at least for me): my grandfather used to hate them. He would cut down my grandmother's crepe myrtle tree in their back yard, but somehow it would always grow back. It was an unspoken battle between them for many years. When he passed on, she buried him in their plot under a huge crepe myrtle. Guess she got the last laugh. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party! I'm sure you're excited. Yard looks great and I love the crepe myrtles. Mine doesn't bloom until late summer.
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks magnificent, Kim..
ReplyDeleteCrepe myrtles are some of my favorites! We had them in CA, but can't grow them here...thanks for sharing yours!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find the time!? It's simply gorgeous, but reminds me that I have A <OT of yardwork to do!
ReplyDeleteStacy
Your blooms & your yard are simply beautiful! I have to ask...in the 3rd picture...what is that flowering bush? (They look like little pom pom balls or puff balls.) I've never seen anything like that before.
ReplyDeleteThe Natchez Whites are beautiful. Tip for your verbena. It is a worm. My expert gardener friend/nursery owner said to spray with liquid 7 dust and and then fertilize very well and water. Hope this helps. Thanx for sharing. Tiff
ReplyDeleteI'm really impressed that you have time to make it look stunning.. very relaxing view.great job!
ReplyDeleteJust checking out some gardens at Centsational Girl when I saw a vision and low and behold it's you!!! How gorgeous is your garden! I will come and stencil your walls if you come and plan my garden!!! Gina
