I love this color. I want it everywhere, but know I can't do that.
Of course I had to paint a piece that I had already painted, but I like, no love, this color even more.
This is the little sneak peek I gave you the other day. I painted on this piece last weekend and love it!
I love it when I paint over an already painted piece. This creates great layers.
This is my new favorite color. Aubusson blue. It is more of a green blue or teal than the Old Violet I had used on this piece before.
Just look at this yumminess. Why isn't yumminess a word? It is now. It definitely changes color in different lighting.
Here is the BEFORE in the Old Violet.
Here are some more close ups.
Just look at that shine. I used clear and dark waxes and lots of buffing.
I was going to change this fabric on the dining room chairs, but you can see how it has multiple colors running through it including the blue.
This shows how well the drapes, chair fabric and the new color on the buffet work together so I think I will keep this fabric a while longer.
Here is a shot at dusk.
Gosh I love this color!
I painted two smaller things this color first and will share them another time.
I just had to show you this big piece first.
I just had to show you this big piece first.
I know y'all think I'm crazy repainting these pieces. Just get in line behind the Mr.!
Have a great weekend!

This piece is beautiful! Aubusson Blue is my favorite, also. Visit my site to view two pieces I did in this color.
ReplyDeleteI must paint something this color ASAP. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Yumminess is certainly a word in my book and I would say it perfectly describes this color :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous color and your piece that you painted !!
ReplyDeleteThat might have to be my next ASCP color purchase ~
I just love it. I have to think of something to paint this delicious color.
ReplyDeleteMaryAnn
Great! That was the first color of AS paint I ordered! I have done three pieces. All three in different layering ways. The teal really comes out with the dark wax!
ReplyDeleteKim, it is such a beautiful piece and the color is wonderful. Looks super with your drapes. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt IS a gorgeous colour and looks great with the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome Kim! I have used that color too, and love it. My bar stools are that color, and few little accessories. I just gave the left over to my neighbor, and she did an awesome table makeover I will be sharing soon. I love this color so much more that the old violet...I knew you were going to change that one for sure!
ReplyDeleteOK, Kim, you've totally outdone yourself, I think I could fall in love too. It's a gorgeous color! Do you paint in your sleep? haha,
ReplyDeletexoxo Debra
You are a pro at this chalk paint. I really like that color as well. Like the distressing too. Chalk Paint is great for that! Your photos are beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteYumminess is right Debbie, its a beautiful piece and that color is perfection.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! It even looks good at dusk. I love the stately lines of this piece, and your distressing.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks wonderful
ReplyDeleteOOOPS! I meant Kim, not Debbie... so sorry my brain is a little scrambled.LOL
ReplyDeleteI think it makes perfect sense to paint and repaint the same pieces ... Otherwise, you would run out of things to paint. This color looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteAubusson is also my favorite! I did just order some Old Violet though to try underneath some other colors. Love it peaking under the Aubusson. good change!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Oh Kim, what a great color! you did an amazing job!
ReplyDeleteAubusson looks wonderful on that piece... only making my first purchase of chalk pain all that more difficult! I must be the last blogger on the block to have not used chalk paint yet, and it's because I of my commitment issues... I think I know what color I want, and them BAM! another post about another color that looks like exactly what I want... or at least what I think I want. Thanks Kim for adding to my indecisiveness :)
ReplyDeleteI have to ask and I am LOL, but are you ever happy with a look for long? Or do you always want to change something? Alot of painting and shopping! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty color. We have a supplier here and I am going to try the chalk paint.
tina
THAT is the color I find myself drawn to right now! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color yet! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteI love how you are painting over the pieces of furniture, makes great layers! It is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, I love this new color! It is perfect in that space! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteOK...you know how some things are just meant to be? I have been wanting to add dark hues of blue to my living and dining rooms. They are all yellow and red. I want to tone down the yellow, take out a little of the red and add blue. You just gave me the perfect way to do that. I'm going to order some paint right now. You're not crazy...you're crazy wonderful! Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Kim! You really could teach a class on painting & refinishing furniture. Sign me up if you do:)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteI love how this piece turned out. The color is very pretty!
ReplyDelete~L
You are starting to talk my favorite colors when you mention blue and green at the same time. I liked it before, but I like it even better now.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Gorgeous colour :) Annie Sloan' chalk paint isn't available in Australia. Poo :(
ReplyDeleteLooks MUCH nicer with the chalk paint!
ReplyDeletePersonally- I have always LOVED crazy! That is the color I have been looking at ordering and now that I have actually seen it on something that is the one I will order tomorrow! Thanks Kim for always doing our "testing" for all of us!;>) Diana
ReplyDeleteI am NOT a blue person - I am "green" all the way, but even I must admit that chest looks beautiful and I like how it changes in the light. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,I love the color!! It looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Kim,
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful...love the color! I don't think you are crazy at all....I am right there with you :)
Wendy
Thanks everyone, and Tina, the creative part of me is always finding things to change or tweak here and there and since I don't do this outside the home things get changed here to fulfill that need.
ReplyDeleteKim you know how much I love blue and this piece looks amazing in your dining room with your drapes, it really pulls the blue out in the drapes. Isn't it fun to find something new that you love so much? Great job as always, I did a post on blue today also, I think it is the color of the day!! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece in a beautiful room.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous! I put my order in for the creamy white today. I'm starting with that, but plan to order the 'light' blue next.
Beautiful work!
Kathy
I love this colour too! May have to think about ordering that one!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! That's a great color.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it!!! I have a piece that I would love to do this to.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely, indeed!! I don't quite understand the waxes and how they change the piece. I guess I'll just experiment. Again, you are soooo talented.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Haven
Yumminess is definitely right! That color is gorgeous! The piece looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is a yummy color Kim! Love how this piece turned out! I know your hubby must just shake h is head like mine does!:)
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,

Thank you so much for stopping in and if you have any advice on how I can better do things I am all ears.
Love your Blog...........
Thanks, Chlvie

ReplyDeleteNo question - that is a great color, Kim. I am going to have to get in style and use someof that paint! You have such a good technique with the distressing. Linda

I just ordered it yesterday and figure it might be here tomorrow! I'm very excited but I've never seen a color look soooo different in so many pictures in blogland. Thanks for giving me a sneak peek at what I'll be working with next week! Great job, as always, by the way!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great color Kim, and I think you are getting sooo good at chalk paint finishes! I have a few samples on order to try some new colors myself!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have been wanting to try aubusson but have not ordered... I painted a table today using another color trying to get close and now that I see yours I wish I had waited. I have shutters to paint to and am hoping to order provence or duck egg but not sure.....it is so hard just seeing the colors online. Love your project.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! Wish I had a piece to try this on.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you shared your newest and most favorite "flavor" of chalk!
Just found a local dealer and plan to go next week to see what she has and pick a couple to try out.
This looks so beautiful.
xx

The color is rich and tasteful. I love your accessories, especially those darling plates on the wall. Kathi
ReplyDeleteKim, I think we are going to have to send you to rehab for your chalk paint addiction! You are one busy lady. I wish you lived closer because I have a list of things that need painting. I do love this color and it looks fabulous on the chest.
ReplyDeletexo,
Sherry
I agree, this is a gorgeous color! Looks great on this piece!
ReplyDeleteThat is the most gorgeous blue!!
ReplyDeleteIt goes beautifully with your drapes.
Just lovely
I love this piece, it looks fabulous. Thank you for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI think that's one of the colors that I ordered. Love how yours turned out! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't tried that paint. I really want to! Where do you order from?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty but I kind of loved it in Old Violet...but then periwinkle is my favorite color....but it's gorgeous like this too. When I saw the name of this post....I immediately thought....oh gosh....what has she painted now. You not only paint pieces of furniture but no piece of furniture in your house is safe from being painted several times. ha!
ReplyDeleteGosh, Kim, it is fabulous! the layering of the colors, along with the dark wax accents is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love the new color too Kim. It looks more posh and beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeleteThe depth of colour is wonderful - you're onto something now!
It's lovely. I really like the gingham lampshades!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim, I've ordered my Annie Sloan paint and patiently waiting for it to arrive. There's a bedroom full of furniture waiting for a make-over!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend,
Gail
Gorgeous and yummy, Kim! Beautiful job of distressing, too! I've got a can of this sitting on my mudroom counter (along with Duck Egg Blue ... Emporer's Silk ... Old White ... Old Ochre and, of course, Chateaux Grey ... LOL). I'm excited to see this color on another piece!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI have been watching you paint, paint, paint and re-paint. I have also noticed that chaulk paint seems to be all the rage right now. I will have to give it a try.
But, with so many colors to choose from and all you have done which color would you suggest for a more lighter fresher look?
I am really liking the look and feel of belgium style and I need something fun and creative in my guess room that I am slooooooooooowly working on.
I'd be interested in your thoughts!
Chlvie
I would love to try this! Love that color!
ReplyDeleteKelly
You have been bust this past week while I was gone Kim! Love this new color too!
ReplyDeletewow... excellent redo. It was quite nice before, but I do love that new colour.ALOT!
ReplyDeleteand yumminess is def the word to us ;)
O, I love it, too, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the chalk paint as yet. I don't paint a lot but I sure have been eying some of my pieces to see if I might like to change colors. This blue surely is pretty.
Oh my. Forget the wow, I'm running straight to drool. That is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat color is rich...yummy, it's just decadent.
It looks great, Kim. The piece has such great lines that will look good with multiple layers of paint--as you already know ;). I was secretly hoping it would be one of the grays as I'm loving those right now.
ReplyDeleteI love that color and that piece is perfect for that spot! Yumminess is a word...I'm pretty sure. At least in blogland. :)
ReplyDeleteKim it turned out beautiful! I think I'm going to paint my buffet too, the dining room it too matchy, matchy! I've not ordered more chalk paint but this might force me to!! Great job! Susan
ReplyDeleteLove the color Kim (of course since it's blue) and I don't think you're crazy!! This is your passion and I say "go for it"!

This piece was beautiful before... but now it is magnificent! I love all the "aging" you did to it... and those drapes of yours are lovely as well! (who are they by?)
ReplyDeleteLove that piece, color is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm a lover of color and this is a beautiful shade. The furniture piece looks great! It's also nice to see something different with the AS chalk paint.
ReplyDeletePat
I LOVE this color! I'm going to get me some. I have 2 side tables in my bedroom that this color will look great in.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!
I had to come back and comment again, to let you know that I actually dreamed about this colour last night (and your makeover) haha. Must mean I really love it! I think this just may be the look I'm going for with my dining room sideboard. I ordered clear wax, but I think I need the dark wax too. I hadn't even really thought about it before. I also ordered old white and a grey colour (can't remember the name). Time to order this blue and some dark wax!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous dresser! Love blue in furniture, I have a china cabinet that I stained blue and I love it! Beautiful blog. New follower!
ReplyDeleteXXX Ido
I love blue as well, and the older the better for me.........Just to share with you folks, i have a new post today on Amish Stories from the Terre Hill days even that was just held in Lancaster Pennsylvania. It was a very hot day but i was able to get i think a few good images from this event. The town is populated with a mix of Amish and old order Mennonites which only adds to its charm. They even have what has become famous in Terre Hill their "outhouse race". The town sits on a hill so it overlooks Lancaster farmland in almost all directions. This is one of my favorite towns to visit because its free from commercialism, so if you are looking for a really all American kind of town with the added bonus of seeing its Amish and Mennonite residents at work and play, then this town is for you. Thanks folks. Richard from Amish Stories.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a great blue color and think this might be The One!! Love how it changes it's mood.
ReplyDeleteMy I ask about your curtains? Where did you find them? I love all the colors in them!
