This is the only picture I could find of the green chest behind the sofa before the first switch was made. Just look through the arch. It stayed like this for a long time, but the Mr. wanted his chair moved.
So then I came up with this arrangement with the sofa in front of the windows and the two chairs, including his lovely recliner on the end.
The result was a happy man. This arrangement was okay except for that darn cord from the lamp sticking out like an eye sore! I need to paint the cord I guess. I don't know why they put a light cord on a dark lamp.
Well, now it looks like this. I was just walking through the room when it hit me to switch the chairs and move the round table and lamp beside the sofa and recliner. Then I knew I needed a shorter floor lamp by the chair so I brought this Target floor lamp from another room and placed it here. Added the basket of mags to somewhat hide the cord and voila.
I love this style floor lamp and they can be quite pricey, but this one is only $39 at Tarjay.
It puts out the perfect amount of light and if Mr. Savvy needs more light over his chair he can move it over and use it, too.
I wasn't sure he was going to like my new arrangement, but I told him to try it and if he didn't like it I would switch it back.
Thank goodness he likes it because I prefer it this way much better. We all know happy wife happy life.
View from our bedroom.
View from the foyer.
The taller recliner was blocking the view in.
Much better don't you think?
Just another rearrangement going on here.

I likee this way too! It is such a great room to work with, really anyway you can't go wrong. As long as Mr. has his comfy chair in perfect viewing of course. I like the lamp in there too.
ReplyDeleteLooks good. It is always amazing to me how a simple move of a piece or two can change the look so much!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room, the arrangement works well. I just love all the windows and the blinds set them off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful space, Kim. . . and this furniture arrangement looks wonderful! I must say, that's about the prettiest recliner I've ever seen. They've come a long way, haven't they?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up about the $39 Target lamp. I love the way you can mix in finds from Target and the overall effect is extremely high-end.
Great job on one more gorgeous space in your lovely home!
Hi Kimmie! OH, I love your new arrangement! Love your pretty furniture and lamps. Glad Mr. Savvy liked it and now harmony reigns in your home! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful home.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Those chairs look soooo comfortable. I HATE CORDS TOO!!!...even when they're the right color they annoy me to no end.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Those darn cords! I think you hit on a terrific looking solution. Love the new lamp, too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fabulous! Something tells me it won't stay that way for long though. :) It amazes me that you have so many ideas....not me.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely...I wish we had such a pretty living room...Your magazine basket is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Kelsie
Isn't it amazing how you can be stuck on something and then all of a sudden it makes sense? Wondering about the pillow in your red print chair. I love the way it sits. Did you buy the insert separately? I almost bought one of those lamps at IKEA in red but I didn't at the last minute. Wish now I would have.
ReplyDeleteI love it, and the lamp is perfect...and I got to tell you,,,,his chair looks soooooo comfy!!!
ReplyDeleteKim, it looks wonderful. I really like the new arrangement. If you want another arrangement, could the tv be moved over to the staircase wall? That way you could have the bookcases free and the sofa could go back where you like it best. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI like the room arrangement & so agree with you on cords, but the first thing I saw was the can of Coke on the beautiful table top.! Get that hubby a beautiful coaster!
ReplyDeleteBeckie in Brentwood, TN
Love the arrangement, I have the same lamp and I thought the price wasn't bad either when I saw it at Target and bought it!
ReplyDeletei think it looks great, you have such lovely taste, and such a good eye!
ReplyDeletenow on to the big question...is there a coke sitting on your end table in the one pic without a coaster???
It does look better this way! Isn't it funny how you can just 'tweak' a room until you get it right?
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky to have such a versatile room. My family room is not a traffic area. I've only had our tv on one wall opposite our sofa with the window behind the sofa. The fireplace is at the end of the room - and it is NOT the focal point. All the furniture faces our massive armoir/entertainment center. It's pretty much been the same, except new carpet 3 years ago and hmm, a new mirror above the fireplace. I love to see how you switch things up, because it makes me think, Hmmm, could I do something like that?
ReplyDeleteKim....cords are the bane of my existence. LOL Love this look. I have a question for you...I see that your interior doors are painted black. I LOVE this. Are they all black? I think I want to show this to my hubbs to see if he likes this. I had been looking at changing the style of the door (I have the standard six panel doors) but maybe painting them would give me a different look I am looking for. (although I HATE painting doors...maybe it would be easier to just change them all out) haha
ReplyDeleteKim, I like the new arrangement even better, well done. The colors in your room are so eye appealing, I'm in love with it! ~Liz
ReplyDeleteLove it Kim, Its nice to break up the fabric pieces from the leather one. Nice that you can also see into the room better too. Isn't it funny how we can look at something everyday and not see it till a light bulb goes off! It all looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a coke can sitting on the table. You cannot hurt this table though and if it did get messed up I would have something else to paint!
ReplyDeleteKim, I like the new arrangement too. This room is so pretty with the arches, high ceilings and all the windows.
ReplyDeletexo,
Sherry
I think you finally got it absolutely perfect! I must add... I LOVED the picture over your sofa, between the windows. That was such a different in the most beautiful way! Do you think you will rehang it there?
ReplyDeleteYou have a gorgeous feel for color and mixing textures and prints.
Now if you lived closer, I'd have you over to help me with my living room!
Yvonne
Kim....it looks amazing. So comfortable and welcoming. Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteBarb
Kim, it looks great, and I love the Tarjay lamp there. Tarjay is always a good thing! Linda
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Kim! Functional and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your decor! Would you mind sharing where you got the red check drapes in the kitchen area?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shara
Yvonne, I will probably hang the picture back up in the winter when it is all gray and bare outside.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Looks very nice!!
ReplyDeleteWorking a recliner in is always challenging... your colors are so warm and pretty!
HMM!
Kelee Katillac
The red checked drapes are from countrycurtains.com and they do still carry them.
ReplyDeleteWell, I want to say, if you're going over to Yvonnes to help her with her living room, then you might as well come the rest of the way across PA to OH & help me with my den shelves!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou continue to amaze & inspire with all the different looks you achieve, Kim. It looks great this way. Your poor husband better not try to walk around in the dark, though...he'll never remember what has been moved to where that day. *wink*
Hugs,
Rett
LOL! Amen to 'a happy wife, a happy life!' Look great!
ReplyDeleteRett, I wish I did live close enough I would visit you both. What fun that would be.
ReplyDeleteYep, if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, right?! I love the new arrangement, glad hubby likes it too. Your room is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKim, love the new arrangement! I also love the pics where you can see into several rooms at one time. Everything just flows so nicely. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteNot only do I adore your home, I love the new arrangement. It is perfect! The Tarjay floor lamp is perfect and I hope hubby is happy!

Gorgeous room as always! I am dying for one of those pharmacy lamps...I think I might be making a trip to Target tomorrow :o)
ReplyDelete~Des
This makes me smile as I like to move things around too...looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like it! I rearranged this past week, only mine didn't work out. So most of it was put back. I also like the colors you have used in your room too:)
ReplyDeleteI like the new arrangement, Kim. And your bank of windows is WONDERFUL!
ReplyDeleteI love that target lamp...must get. I do like the new arrangement but it would bother me not to have a table by the floral chair to place my coffee or drink. You probably thought about this but you could always cover the cord with a cord cover. I'm sure you could whip up a cute one. Or even have the cord changed out to a dark one. But if it doesn't bother you not to have a table there then I say it's great!
ReplyDeleteKim, Your home always looks so nice.
ReplyDeletePattie
Kim, when you make a change you know what your doing. I love the new look, more spacious with the table and lamp moved. Your home is beautiful.......
ReplyDeleteThanks for opening your home through photos, gives the rest of us lots of inspiration..........

Nanci, I hope to add a garden stool, or maybe a stack of vintage suitcases for that. For now this works. It is just the two of us and not many visitors.
ReplyDeleteI like the arrangement very much. AND I love your black door which is visible in one of the photos. That is a demonstration of decorating confidence and is totally cool.

Looks great Kim! You can't go wrong as long as the Mr. is happy and you are too.
ReplyDeleteYour home is gorgeous. I love the new arrangement. Kathi
ReplyDeletei just love your house. so pretty. :o) i also love that floor lamp... i'm off to target today to check it out for myself!
ReplyDeleteI love the new arrangement and that you considered the Mr. while decorating. I am so glad to see your cottage style coffee table with the darker furniture. Our living room has dark furniture and I want to change the coffee table to white but was afraid of the contrast. Now I can see it will look great white. Have a wonderful week. Patty
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful room, love the bones of your house. laughing at your cord, its funny how we pick the tiniest flaws out of great beauty~
ReplyDeleteWe are looking to replace my hubby's lazy boy....where did you purchase your chairs? Thanks!! Love the rearrangement...my hubby thinks I am the only one who moves furniture every couple of months :)
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine that Mr Savy wouldn't like the new arrangement. I think it's a Keeper. Speaking of Keeper, I'd love to know where you bought that beautiful cinnamon colored, patterned chair! I'm looking for a chair like that one!!
ReplyDeleteThe brick red sofa and chair and the recliner were all purchased back in 2001 at a very good sale from a high end store called Beverly Hall Interiors that normally I would not shop in. The sale was really good and I talked hubby into it. All three pieces are by Sherril and still look new.
ReplyDeleteKim, everything you do to your gorgeous home is wonderful! I also like how you broke up the wall of windows by adding the picture behind the couch. Can you fly out here to decorate for me? If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your shades in the windows and what kind of flooring did you use? I am saving up for these two things, along with a new sofa!
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet day...
and yes, a happy wife is a good wife.
xxoo
Becky
I like the new arrangement Kim, and I'll bet Mr. Savvy does too.
ReplyDeleteGreat switch Kim!
ReplyDeletelooks lovely! your home it so warm, i have a red sofa too :) hope you are well, we are so busy with baseball/softball coming to an end! susan
ReplyDeleteYour room looks lovely, cozy and perfect, now with that great lamp and no more cords hanging to see!! I'm so glad the Mr. is happy too! Beautiful! Have a great week. FABBY
ReplyDeleteWow that is amazing how much better the whole room looks. I love those pharmacy lamps too. Your house is very cool!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I'm glad Mr Savvy is happy with it too.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, Love the whole room! The Tarjay lamp is a classy little thing and makes just the right statement by your chair.
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving such a sweet comment about my kitchen redo.
I do love the granite sink!
Looks great Kim, I love how you are able to 'float' the chairs, I hate rooms where everything has to be placed on walls. Wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world where the TV (and our MEN )didn't dictate our furniture placement?
ReplyDeleteKim... it comforts me to know I'm not alone in my madness! Looks great!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love switching things around. You get a whole new look and feel... for free. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I love the placement of the furniture...the couch looks super comfy! I want those pillows!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteKim, your home is beautiful with any arrangement. It's fun to move things about though. I love the open look of this space and those gleaming wood floors. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteYour home is so beautiful, and I think both ways look great. But I think I like this a little better, too....hope your husband agrees!
ReplyDeleteStacy
It looks great, Kim. Isn't it interesting how simple changes can make such a nice difference. I really like your windows and blinds and the scale of your coffee table. Just lovely. Hugs, Kim
ReplyDeleteLooks Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteKim, your home is so beautiful and I always love whatever you do! I love the FLOW of your home. You have such a wonderful eye for design and placement. I know Mr. Savvy appreciates your efforts to make him more comfortable!!!! It looks great, Kim!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I got the lamp at Target yesterday and love it! Thanks for telling us about such a great steal of a deal.
ReplyDeleteyou have such a lovely home. I have enjoyed reading through all of your posts :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! Love what you did with your room! I'm new to blogging and would love if you came by and visited me!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, but where does he put his sweet tea?
ReplyDeleteI like it better like that and I have the same Tarjay lamp! Such a deal and I have actually bought the same one for clients!
ReplyDeleteGreat arrangement, Kim! I love the new lamp. You're such a thoughtful wife, too!
