Of course y'all have seen this old sideboard transform from one color to another and it is still my favorite piece that I have done so far. The insets are covered with toile fabric applied with Mod Podge. The paint is Annie Sloan chalk paint done first in Old Ochre and then I went over it with Chateau Gray and then heavily distressed and waxed.
I just changed up the vignette a little bit on this one. I moved the plant in the black pot to the sun room and added in the stone column that I already had and this vintage looking terracotta pot and saucer I just recently bought.
I love the look and shape of this piece and the irregular shape of the saucer. I think I may go back to the store where I found this and get some other sizes. This one was only $6.99.
I like to have layers in my vignettes and some greenery added for softness.
This column actually came from the same store as the terracotta pot, but I purchased it long time ago. They have some really good buys in this warehouse store.
My sheep and vintage books are still here.
Mirror, Staffordshire plates, and an antler trophy hang above.
This is looking back towards the front door.
I have turned an urn into an umbrella stand.
This is my latest ASCP Aubusson blue victim. This was originally a greenish white when I bought it and then I spray painted it black and now it is blue and aged.
This is a Dash & Albert runner that I was going to use as a runner in the foyer, but it is just two small for the foyer so I folded it over and just use it at the door for now until I find something better.
This hangs right next to the front door. It was in storage and I brought it back out for a while.
My favorite style is French country with a gathered over time look. I hope that is what comes across.
Have a wonderful week!

You do get the feeling for your home as soon as you step in the foyer...you know more fabulousness is about to come!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of open floor plans with two story foyers here in Charlotte. It's actually what I specialize in for my color consultations.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing in my home. I ripped out the carpet that was in the living room and replaced it with hardwood. Doing that really opened up the space - and made for a great dance floor at one of our parties :-)
Beautiful home - great colors too!
What a pretty foyer arrangement! I'm glad to know you can use ASCP on items other than wood. I'm trying to come up with something I want to paint....knowing that helps.
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening.
Love that mirror and little lamb! What color is your front door painted? Just did mine this weekend in BM Midsummer Night...black brown. Love having the door black like that!
ReplyDeleteYour foyer is a very welcoming entrance to your home. I am envious because I don't have any walls in my foyer. I know that sounds crazy...wish I had a wall to place some type of accent table with a nice vignette. Looking forward to the room by room tour!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely Kim. I think you have done a beautiful job of making your entry warm and welcoming.

Kim this is just beautiful. It is not only elegant but warm and inviting. Fabulous job.

You have a beautiful and welcoming foyer, Kim! I love seeing it and having this chance to see some of the little details up close.
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of looking around your home Kim! It is soo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKim- The foyer is just lovely-I'll look at it as many times as you want to show it. It's funny - I was thinking about my foyer on the way home today and I think I need to do a bit of re-dressing- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI agree with the girls.... your first impression is a great one!
ReplyDeleteLove visiting your home --- every nook and cranny!

Hi Kim, Your entry looks so warm and inviting. I love all the colors you use. My entry, no soo good. I try, but the first thing people see is my sink! Yep, my kitchen sink is direct line from the front door. I have a little dresser that's all decorated and a mirror, but your eye always end up going right to the sink. I hate it!! : )
ReplyDelete~ Catie
Beautiful and so inviting. Love your sideboard!
ReplyDeleteYour foyer is so pretty and open (unlike my teeny little one). Love your umbrella stand and have been on the hunt for just the right one. And you know I love a black door. Thanks so much for joining the party Kim!
ReplyDeleteYour foyer is like a room in and of itself! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful foyer, Kim ... never tire of seeing it! Love the new vignette and the Aubusson Blue revamped urn!
ReplyDeletebeautiful foyer! this post was extra interesting to me since my daughter and i spent the better part of friday moving and moving furniture around to spruce up the foyer in my house...it's still boring. :o)
ReplyDeleteKim, I love your entry! It's huge and beautiful, very inviting! I have that same column, mine was exactly the same color. I painted it recently! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
What a stunning, inviting entry! LOVE!
ReplyDeletePS. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately (I have ready many posts but haven't commented, as I was always on an iphone which i'm not great at working). Anyway, loving catching up on the posts I missed.
Kim, dear, your foyer tells all your guests to "Come on in!"
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think I've ever been in a house that is as well put together and beautifully decorated as yours. Honestly.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your big foyer makes me wish I had such a nice space to decorate. You have done a great job making yours look so welcome~in the french country way.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Kim, and it tells your visitors that they are in for a treat. I added a link to this post on Cedar Hill Ranch's Facebook page. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteWell I had never seen the whole thing so I am glad you showed it. Like the rest of your house, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove that sideboard (drool) it's one of my favorite pieces to refer to in bloggy land.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: are the front door and interior french doors painted black or dark brown?
Kim, it's obvious from the first moment that your home is filled with love. Definitely a layered look of things found here and there. You have the touch! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteyour home is so beautiful, I love the floors! The first floor in my house is 1/2 tile (the entry way, hall way and kitchen) and 1/2 wood floors (living room, office, family room). While it is practical, I would love to have all wood floors someday!
ReplyDeleteYour foyer is gorgeous Kim! I love the hardwood floor and beautiful open look of your home and of course love that sideboard as always.
ReplyDeleteKim, I like your rustic terracotta pot and saucer and your umbrella stand. Great texture and color.
ReplyDeleteDid you go to A & B outlet? I need to go back to see if they've gotten new things for fall.
Your flooring is just beautiful and I can see how it opens things up.
ReplyDeleteYour entry is so lovely and DOES reflect what your guests are about to see...A BEAUTIFULLY STYLED HOME.
and, yes, your style of French Country, gathered over the years and not everything looking *show floor new* does indeed come across to me.
You have the talent to design something beautiful but also comfy.
Sometimes, this is a hard trick to accomplish.:)
OH Kim I wish my enter was that big, your is so pretty
ReplyDeletePattie
Love all your photos. Especially love the toile insets on the sideboard!

Looks wonderful, Kim. The wood floor carries the eye right back to those wonderful windows, and ties everything together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as anyone comes into your foyer they will know that this is going to be one bEAUTIFUL home! The look you are going for certainly comes across. I love that it looks "gathered over time"!!!! XO, Pinky

ReplyDeleteYour foyer is so big and beautiful!! And perfectly styled. I love it!
ReplyDeleteStacy
That sideboard is fabulous - love the coloration and the work put into it..just amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the fabric you used on your sideboard. Do you know the pattern? I'd love to find some to use somewhere in my home. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGoo Goo Buy Buy, I hope you come back here to look at my reply since you have no reply comment blogger on your comments. The toile, I think is called Bosphorus. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby if you have one near you.
ReplyDeleteYou don't get the feeling often when walking into a foyer, but yours says, "Welcome. Make yourself at home."
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
Camille
Your home is lovely!! I love the Rooster in your foyer!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. French country came across loud and clear. Beautiful. We took out ugly carpet and linoleum and replaced it with dark hardwood floors too. What a difference.
ReplyDeleteSam
Kim, I have always been in love with your foyer and the chest is one of my favorite things in your home. Thank you for joining the Open House party this week.
