This is the first one that I have purchased with a basket. Love the green.
So many things I can place in the basket. I put my lemons in it and then.....
.....I tried my hydrangea bloom, but it still needs water. I can't believe how well it is doing.
Look at that wonderful rust.
Not so sure about the eagles on the back side of the basket. I guess they are a symbol of this American family scale company.
I have seen these at so many price points lately. Many are fifty dollars and up.
I found this one for $25. Started not to get it and then knew I would be sorry if I didn't.
I have never paid more than $30 for one of these. I saw one like this one for $90. That is just crazy.
Enjoy the day and come back tonight for a makeover at my sister's.

Very cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kim. I remember one of those sitting on our counter at mom's growing up... Dang, now they are vintage! LOL! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteLove vintage scales! It is on my list to get one for our kitchen...thank you for the advice on the price point! xo
ReplyDeleteI Love old scales. I have one with a flat red plate on top..lots of rust...
ReplyDeleteLove the graphics on it and it is my favorite color green. And great find with the basket.
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks great!
ReplyDeletePat - I have about five too. I stopped collecting them only because I ran out of kitchen space to showcase them. LOL I have one that I think is identical. I have my shallots stored in mine. It has a basket too but not like yours. I just love them, they are timeless. I will have to blog about mine too one of these days. Thanks for sharing your new treasure.
ReplyDeleteI love it Kim..I have the red one like this, except mine does not have the Eagles on the basket. My step dad found mine at an antique shop in Buffalo..I think it was 50.00..so you scored for sure.
ReplyDeleteI have an aversion to scales! Panic sets in every time I look at one! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely in your kitchen!
I love your green scale! It is so pretty and I love it on your beautiful countertop. You did good, I love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat Find! I know what you mean about pricing..I never put more than 20.00 on the ones I price to sell! I love to collect vintage treasures with old numbers, especially old alarm clocks and scales! Stop by sometime to say Hi! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite one I have seen. There are many on Etsy too. I found to of mine in NH at $11 and $12 each, so I was able to resell them. The american eagles look cool~an extra detail that you don't usually see.
ReplyDeleteLove the scales. It is wonderful and the color is super. So nice to find the basket to go with it. Great piece and your vignette is beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same one! Same green. I love scales.
ReplyDeleteLove your scales! You always have such wonderful vignettes!
ReplyDeleteI really love the color on the scale. It looks good in your kitchen. I don't think $25 is bad, as you say I've seen them with really HIGH prices. Enjoy. hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteLove the scale. If I had a huge island I would get a great big one and keep it filled with fruit. But alas, my counters are tiny...
ReplyDeleteI love it and have never seen one with a basket before. Very cool! I only have the white one that I bought last week, but I hope to have a collection one day. I think that was a fair price too and have seen many that are way too expensive.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great treasure you found....love,love,love that green color!!!!
ReplyDelete~Des
Kim, love it...
ReplyDeleteThat is a great one, I love the green color. And boy you will fill that basket with some great stuff!
ReplyDeleteYou'd have been SO sorry if you hadn't taken it home. I love that it has a basket because you'll be more inclined to use it as opposed to setting it on a shelf for display only. Love the colour!
ReplyDeleteGreat scale Kim and I love the color! Martina
ReplyDeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteThat´s a lovely thing :)

Out of all of the vintage scales I have seen out there, that one is by far my favorite Kim! It is absolutely beautiful and I love the shade of green! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
I think I have that same green scale down in the basement somewhere, unless my daughter already ran off with it!!! It was purchased from JCPenny in the late 60's, have to go look.....talk about hoarding!!! hugs...cleo
ReplyDeleteI can't believe we have the EXACT same scale, lol! It even rusted in the same spots! Go see! http://chickncharge.blogspot.com/2011/04/weighty-matter.html
ReplyDeleteI LOVE mine too- great minds think alike, huh?!
I think you found a great deal! I love the color. I know it will look even more gorgeous this fall!
ReplyDeleteI love you scales - I've been wondering what to do with the top wasted space of my cabinets and these would be great.
ReplyDeleteLet the scale hunt begin!
That green is always wonderful. I would not have been able to pass on the scale based on color alone. I love it with the lemons!
ReplyDeleteDana
Super cute Kim! Can I ask where you found that jar with the pears in it? I have been searching all over for a jar like that with no success. Anyway, I love it! XO ~Liz
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Kim! Love the newest addition. I'm *still* looking for one!
ReplyDeleteGreat buy! The basket really adds to it's charm.
ReplyDeleteI have a yellow one that someone spied at my moving sale, it was in the area of the garage to be packed up. Someone saw it and begged to buy it. I am SO happy I didn't.

Hi Kim, I've been admiring vintage scales for a long time. Love your new green scale. It's probably the prettiest of all! Linda
ReplyDeleteI love how you love rust! What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI love your scale! I collect them too. I love the green ones--they are the hardest to find. Great tray too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Pam
Kim, you find the NEATEST things!!!!!!! And always find JUST the right spot to showcase them! Please show us where ALL your scales are now! Pretty please???:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love the color too! Found you via Southern Hospitality. Pop in for a visit if you get time. Tootles, Kathryn http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSome sellers do more harm than good towards there own sales when they over price things.. When looking for vintage items I tend to return to stores or booths that keep their prices within reason. Love the green scale.. It's soooo cute! I'm glad you took it home with you.
ReplyDeletelove the green and with those lemons it's perfect Kim, probably my favorite!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteLove the colour green! It looks to be in such great shape!!
A sweet find for sure...
All the Best,
Christine
Hi lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteI also love your Vintage green scale with the limon's sweet.
I hope you have a great week Kim.I also hope you come over and see me.
XXOO Diane
I love your green scale. I have a yellow one. I would like to collect more but whenever I see them they are usually in pretty bad shape, or overpriced. $25 is pretty good for one in good condition like that
ReplyDeleteLOVE this one Kim! That green is fabulous! Canceled our trip out that way sadly. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it though.
ReplyDeleteLove your green scale. Looks so pretty in your kitchen. Thanks for so many great ideas!
ReplyDeleteLove the green scale. My thrift/antique shopping philosophy is this, if you pick up, buy it, because it will not be there when you circle back around. Speaking from experience, of course.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your new kitchen scale. The color is wonderful....can't go wrong with green.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim I can't believe it! I just got the exact same scale at a flea market last week! Too funny. And gasp, I only paid $5 for it. I couldn't believe it. I've overpaid for so many other things that I guess fate thought I deserved a break. Ha! Have a great week.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Kim
loved that idea of lemons in that old kitchn weight. Cool!!!
ReplyDeleteKim thanx so much for joining Treasure Hunt Thursday this week! I really appreciate it! Still loving that scale!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful scale! I really like the lemons in the green!
Oh Kim, LOVE,LOVE,LOVE it! Yes, you would have lost sleep if you didn't get it! The ONE AND ONLY one I have is like this one only a creamy white. It's MINT CONDITION but has no basket at the top... I only paid $5 for mine AND the same booth had a black one for $10...UGH! I didn't get the black one "AND I have NIGHTMARES about it"!!! Oh Well, I hope it's living in a HAPPY HOME Somewhere...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna
