Here is the new bright and light kitchen. She used the same linen white by Benjamin Moore that she used under the chair rail in the dining room.
Here is an old picture of the before. She also painted the red cabinet black. She loves the new lighter walls. Sure am glad since I told her to go for it.
She added cheap work lights from Home Depot to the top of her cabinets for extra lighting since the lights under her cabinets had to keep being replaced. Love the added industrial element.
Here is the before.
Yes, my sister has the same cow canvases I do because I was sent two sets for some reason so I gave her the extra set.
Before
One of these days that basket will be missing. he he
Read this strange sign. lol
She found this at Home Goods.
This platter may come up missing, too. Just sayin.
The lampshade is from Hobby Lobby. So cute on her alabaster lamp.
Thanks for all the nice comments regarding her home.
One more room to go.
Have a super week!

I love all the little touches in your sister's home. She has great taste.
ReplyDeleteYour sister has some great lamps, Kim! This one in the kitchen is no exception. Love all her little touches and I love the new color. The black cabinet looks great! Love her countertops, too.
ReplyDeleteI think the before and after are both charming. I especially like the home depot lighting:)
ReplyDeleteI love the black cabinets, it makes the white dishware really stand out... I especially love the ornate plates on the bottom shelve... any chance your sister would reveal the source?
ReplyDeleteI love the white walls in the kitchen but how great are those lamps from Home Depot? They are perfect! Love the alabaster lamp too with the HL shade. Very pretty kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat an alabaster lamp. I'm always on the lookout for another one. Her lampshade makes it even more endearing. Sally

Hi Kim! I'm getting caught up on my blog reading and just saw all of the previous posts of your sister's gorgeous home. This kitchen is so fantastic and I just love it! The work lights attached at the top were just genius and I also might just copy the wooden spoons in the silver ice bucket. You both have such great style and isn't it nice to have a sister to bounce decorating ideas off of? :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
There must be some fever of wanting to paint kitchens lighter and brighter because I am waiting for my fave painter to free himself up so he can paint my red cabs white and my creamy yellow walls a lt khaki. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the single black cabinet. I might have to think about stealing aka borrowing that idea. ;-) Tell your sister she has done a fantastic job on her home. Where is her blog???? :)
Oh my goodness I LOVE those lights above the cabinets! Think I might have to copy that idea! That sign is so great and funny! It's all so beautiful! Two talented sisters for sure!
ReplyDeleteHeathe

ReplyDeleteOh, Kim! Your sister's kitchen is lovely. I love green, but the new color opens up the room so much. I'm with you about taking things you like.....I carry a big purse (just-in-case) when I visit my friends' homes. I haven't taken anything, yet....but I'll be ready ;0

ReplyDeleteHer redo looks wonderful. Isn't it great that you can share so many things--as sisters and as friends? I think it is hysterical that she has the same cow canvas..was that from the guy that sent you the wrong ones to begin with?
ReplyDeleteI think that Cheese platter might go missing if she doesn't keep an eye on you! Maybe if you whine a bit she will give it to you!;>) just a thought- xo Diana

ReplyDeleteLisa
You can most def tell y'all are sisters! Love her kitchen too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! Great makeover - so happy she took your advice. I am so impressed with the home depot lighting -I have to know - how did he work the electrical part out? Is there and extension cord that is run behind the cabs? Inquiring minds want to know...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home your sister has! I loved the red in the kitchen, but painting it black REALLY compliments the countertops now. I also love that "be thankful" sign of hers! And the silver champagne bucket for the utensils? Genius idea, love it!

ReplyDeleteI just looked through your past post this weekend because I recalled how lovely your sister's kitchen was.....I am getting ready to paint my cabinets and had decided to stick with my red....despite the pull to go lighter....and then imagine my suprised when I saw this post....wow....I think I love how your sister went lighter without it seeming cold...it still has so much warmth as yours does....maybe I will rethink (again)...glad I didn't start yet!!! I love her counter tops.....would she reveal the pattern? I assume they are granite? Could we see more of your sister's house? please....just a lovely as yours.....

Love the pics and was wondering about the cow canvas---where did you get this from ??
ReplyDeleteLoving her kitchen and your blog!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks gorgeous. I can see you have similiar taste and that is a good thing. I love the lampshade-I may have to look for something similiar. After all, that is why we read blogs isn't it? To "steal" ideas???
ReplyDeleteThe cow canvases were bought through One Kings Lane. I have a widget on my sidebar where you can sign up to be notified each day of new sales. They sell things daily up to 70% off retail. The cow canvases have shown up twice so they may again. They came as a pair for $15.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute kitchen..
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed seeing her house. Try to get HER in one of your pics...I love putting a face with a house.:))
Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to see if those lights would fit above MY cabinets...:)
