I took the little cupboard down and just leaned the cow picture against the wall.
Added some natural fall items to this small old dough bowl that I have had for a gazillion years.
The green gourd was given to me by Babs of Upstairs Downstairs who has these growing on her property and she gave me three of them.
I stuck my magnifying glasses in the old crock.
This brass letter opener was one of my finds this weekend.
Here it is without the pillow. I believe it is tiger maple.
I found this little fall pillow a couple of years ago at Pottery Barn and always bring it back out for fall.Found this huge demijohn this weekend, too for forty-five dollars. Much better prices than here.
Just a few changes to bring in some fall. Some folks didn't care for the little cupboard on the table, but that is not why I moved it. I just wanted to use this cow picture here instead. I have limited wall space anyway. I know my style is not for everyone and I am by no means a minimalist. One person even wanted the basket and chair moved. Sorry, but I love layering and I want the room to be comfortable, not bare and cold. I believe our homes should reflect the people who live in them.
Hope everyone has a super week!
Kim~
ReplyDeleteNice fall touches. I adore gourds and I love the vignette you've created, and nice pillow, too!
...not a minimalist myself :) so I'm really liking your changes! I have a wooden bowl similar to that. You've given me an idea! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall touches, awesome finds and I LOVE your layering!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening,
Gail
No minimalist here either...the more stuff I have out the happier I am! Love your new chair with with sweet little pillow. Such a great find.
ReplyDeleteMarianne :)
Oh a girl after my own heart. Ya know, I try to dejunk, but then I just junk it back up. Definately not a minimalist. I say go for what makes you happy. Your entry looks so lovely and inviting. Makes me want to stay and visit a while. The cow picture looks right at home. I say, MOO-ve over and make room for more! lol!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, it's your home, Kim, and whatever it is that makes it feel that way, you should do. I love the way the chair finish works so well with the table finish, too.
ReplyDeleteLove all the wood finishes together. It really makes that table look like a million bucks! The patina on that 15 dollar chair is amazing. It's all very cohesive and pulled together! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI agree the cow picture looks great just leaning on the wall...your fall arrangement is beautiful. The new chair is gorgeous, and the patina is so rich looking. I like the pillow on the chair. I have an old chair as well and I stack a pile of hardcovers on it to discourage anyone wanting to sit on it, that seems to work... Your home has to reflect you! or else how would we know who really lives there...Surround yourself with the things and people you love, that is happiness!!
All the Best,
Christine
Lovin all the fall at your home Kim.
ReplyDeleteLovely entry--I really like the PB pillow and the magnifying glasses.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe the nerve people have. Love the changes Kim! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteKim, I love the total look. Don't take away a thing! You have given me some great ideals.
ReplyDeleteSandy
I so would have bought the chair! fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove the fall vignette! I also loved the cabinet. Where do you have it now?
ReplyDeleteI love your warm touches of Fall without being all orange. Love that chair too.
ReplyDeleteJust like everybody else said, its your home, do whatever you like. The only rule is, I believe, if you like it, it is right.
The chair is to die for! What a deal. Over the years we have had chairs reglued. It usually worked very well.
ReplyDeleteBabs is so sweet. I could see here sharing the bounty.
Looks great Kim! Martina
ReplyDeleteI like your changes. The new chair is so cute! I think it compliments the table better than the white one. Your fall touches are coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteCute chair Kim! Love the cow pic too.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks really pretty and that chair is just beautiful. That is a fantastic price for it too. You were very lucky, but you were also very smart to snatch it up!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria
Everytime I see a vignette of yours I think "perfect"! Then somehow you seem to adjust and it looks even better...you are soo good at it! Love your drop leaf table, all your fall touches and the chair...love it!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
lovely decor for this fall...i love that chair and the table together...gourds are so cool looking and the longer the stem and curvy-er the better great one !
ReplyDelete- KAT -
Lovely fall display Kim!
ReplyDeleteI just love the wood grain in that chair!!
Everything looks lovely, Kim. I love the whole wall vignette. You've done a great job mixing everything together.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Kim. I like lots of stuff, and most of all, I'm not trying to please anyone but me and my family. I think everything is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!!!
Kathy
Your vignette is lovely, Kim. It looks so warm and inviting with all the pillows and the dark wood.
ReplyDeleteGreat vignette and I love the cow picture there. That chair is gorgeous! I don't think I have seen wood like that! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great style. It is important, as you stated, that homes reflect the people who love and live in them. Your home is gorgeous and I love the way you change things and keep it looking fresh while staying true to your style and heart.
ReplyDeleteNow that is lovely! The lovely table is not so lost and your eye has a chance to rest on the display :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the picture on the table AND the chair AND the demijohn!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteKim, love all the added touches for fall. The little pillow is perfect for fall.

I love your chair and what a deal! Your PB pillow is cute also......
ReplyDeleteI love how you layer things. I wish my tiny house had more room so I could do that as well.
ReplyDeleteMy only critique would be to move the demijohn so that we can see it better. It's so pretty.
I was looking at your photo, thinking how much I loved all of the layering, and trying to figure out where I could put a basket filled with pillows, when I read that some people thought your room was too crowded. That is funny. I just inherited a drop leaf table (very similar to yours) from my MIL. I put it in my dining room as a side board (with the leaves down) and I am trying to decide if I will keep it there.
ReplyDeleteKim...this is your style and you carry it off perfectly! I love your vignettes...they always tell a story which is the purpose. You just carry on my friend!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love your fall touches! Your pillow is swoon worthy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will add your lovely metamorphosis to my Fall in Love linky party on Wednesday.
Until then, stop by and see the under $20 makeover I gave an ugly brass light fixture.
Happy Monday!
Ya gotta love the layered and cluttered look, in my book! My BIL told me years ago that I could open a shop based on all of the "stuff" that was in my living room! Hah- who's got the last laugh now? Your vignette looks great. :-)
ReplyDeleteDon't ever change your style...it's to die for! I love your layered looks which is why you are my favorite blog! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lovely! That chair was such a great find and that demijohn too!
ReplyDeleteBervgirl, how sweet are you. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteThat chair is fabulous Kim!! Love that little area. You always know how to accessorize so well! Does it come instantly or do you have to ponder over it for awhile like me?
ReplyDeleteBringing home great finds is always a way for me to change things up. I'm always moving things around setting the mood for each room. Over the weekend I went for a different approach, painting! Spent a couple of days back and forth at our local True Value. Decided on a very beautiful light orange (Sunglow), perfect for this time of year as well as the other seasons I hope!
ReplyDeleteNice touches, Kim. You're always true to yourself when you decorate, and I love that.
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined the table with the chair and basket. I personally think it wouldn't look nearly as good without them. I sure hope those people suggested those changes in a polite way! I do love it when people make suggestions to me (sometimes I hadn't thought of it, and it's a great idea!) as long as it's said in a polite way =) Your chair is fabulous! I'm glad you snatched it up!
ReplyDeleteI love where you put your painting. Looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove the chair and pillow, too.
xo bj
Coveting the table. My mother in law had a Duncan Phyfe drop leaf and for some reason it slipped through my fingers. The chair is gorgeous as is. What a find!
ReplyDeleteOUTSTANDING!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful arrangement and sweet fall treasures. Kim, I liked the shelf, too - but it is always fun to layer and move things around! Anytime you care to come over, I will give your full reign of my house to do as you please! Oh, bought some chalk paint this weekend! Projects ahead!
xxoo
Becky
Kim, you have such a great eye! I love all your finds. Wish I could go shopping with you.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteLove your fall touches and the cow painting. You made me laugh when you said people have been telling you how to decorate your home. Funny, I thought this was your blog about your decorating style?
Keep doing your own thing that is what makes You... You!
Love your finds from the weekend.
Looks great there Kim. I can't believe you got that chair for $15!! Good for you!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Kim
Beautiful vignette! Love all the little fall touches! That green gourd is such a terrific vibrant color! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe wood in that chair is simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGosh you always find the best things.I really like the cow picture on your table and the tiger maple chair. Darling pillow on your tiger maple chair.
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet to mention the gourds. Glad you could use them. Have a great week.
Babs
I agree, Kim. After I finally tracked down the newest issue of "French Country" mag, I was disappointed with their minimalist look--needs some stuff to soften those hard surfaces.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. I think we should surround ourselves with things that make us happy...it is wonderful if other people enjoy the look, but really...our families are the only ones that matter. I also think that it is very easy to appreciate someone else's style. When I see a cow or antlers now...I think how cool it would look in your house. I do the same when I see black and white polka dots and think of bj @ sweet nothings and so on. I love all the different looks that are found in our homes and I enjoy most of them, even if I wouldn't want to live on a daily basis with all of them. Does that make sense? I like the picture there...of course I also liked the cabinet. Change is fun sometimes!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! All your pretty accessories look wonderful with that "new to you" picture. Very nicely put together! Visting from Table Top Tuesday. Have a lovely evening.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, PLEASE don't ever lose YOUR style! You would not have all these folowers if so many people didn't LOVE your style! I loved the little cabinet there but love the cow picture too! Your layering is beautiful. I just wrote a comment on another blog about being TRUE to OURSELVES!!!! We have to decorate our homes with what makes US happy there!!!! LOVE your style!!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteHi Kim...
ReplyDeleteMy name is Shug and I am stopping by from over at Marty's place. Wonderful blog and great post...You have done a great job sprucing up for Fall...
Blessings,
shug
Kim you found some wonderful pieces. I love the chair...it has so much character and adds warmth. I also really like your cow picture and think it looks perfect there! You have a great way of putting things together.
ReplyDeleteRachel~
How boring life would be if we all had the exact same taste! Your changes brought a wonderful different look to the setting. You definitely are very gifted in putting together vignettes.
ReplyDeleteI love all your vintage goodies -- such a warm and welcoming home :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gail
SO many different and interesting elements on your Fall table! Just beautiful. What a bargain to find that chair with the wonderful patina for only $15...I just love it.
ReplyDeleteI know I already commented but wanted to say thanx for coming over to party with me! You are the best!:)
