A few weeks ago I bought another new old lamp that I found at the local antique mall and haven't even shown it to y'all yet. I just can't help myself when I see a pretty lamp. They just seem to hop in my arms. It took the place of a buffet lamp I had sitting on the bookcase in the great room. I love the shape of this one and the shade. The shade is usually what attracts my attention first when I spot a new lamp. This lamp is older and solid brass with an unusual shaped black shade with gold on the inside.
I just love how this room looks at night.
After all this is when we usually have the lamps on.
Close up of the base. It looks like an old brass candlestick.
I put my fern in my copper pot and then placed my cute little pig in front of my rooster picture for this vignette.
Last week I put my copper pot back in my kitchen to hang from the pot rack and placed the fern in this basket that I have had for years.
Solid brass lamp was only $24. The shade, which is hard, would be more than that if purchased separately these days so not a bad deal.
Hope your long holiday weekend went well.
I know a lot of us had tons of rain, but oh how we need it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little lamp Kim! We have been on the road too, stopping here in there at antique stores but didn't find anything. I'm knee deep in the photo shoot so my comments are few and far between these days.

Kim, what a great find! I L-O-V-E lamps period, and this one is so unique. You've created a lovely vignette here and the soft lamplight highlights it perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to see more brass accessories in the decorating magazines and blogs.....do you think that trend is going to take off?
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a lamp like that one! I love the way it was designed to look like an old candlestick. I am still swooning over the cute little pig!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys are getting some rain. We are still Desperate for some. Here, fires are breaking out all around. It is so sad.

A beautiful find and the black lampshade is stunning! Overhead task lighting is modern and practical but you gotta love the ambiance that lamps create. If I need another lamp, I should put you on it as you have fabulous taste in lamps my dear!

Black shades are wonderful for spots like this! Good hunting expedition! You scored a great find!
ReplyDeleteYour lamp is just wonderful with it's curvy base and black shade! Plus, you found it at such a terrific price!
ReplyDeleteThe lamp IS nice. I've debated whether or not to buy one when I see them in consignment stores. But, I LOVE the rooster print. That is most awesome, especially it's colors, and the pig cracks me up! We're under a tornado watch from lovely Lee today too, but we did need the rain. Have a good week!

ReplyDeleteI love lamps too and I've never seen one like this. Looks perfect in your vignette. Great find Kim.
ReplyDeleteThe lamp is interesting. I wonder what that curlicue is for on the base. Did it have a purpose or is it just decoration?
ReplyDeleteKim, you and Debbie find the best lamps. I love lamps, but never run across any that I like in the antique malls. I always see them in your or someone else's house. The last lamp I found was an alabaster one but can't find the right shade for it. Glad you're back from your trip.
ReplyDeleteLove the elegance of this beautiful lamp... it creates such a wonderful ambiance to your vignette. The shelf and the tabletop is highlighted so beautifully and all the colors looking gorgeous! Thanks for this beautiful inspiration and for having this fun weekly party. Have a wonderful evening! It rained heavily here yesterday and today is such a gloomy and overcast day. I'm glad you came home safely.Hugs~Poppy

ReplyDeleteThis room is so welcoming in the lamp light. The glow is lovely. Thanks for linking up to Open House Party!
