I used a basket that I bought a couple of years ago at a local store for eleven dollars.
I went to my stash of florals and filled the basket until it was overflowing. Yes, these are faux. Nothing real would last in this basket very long. Believe me it is like a sauna on this porch.
I used all the wonderful fall colors and threw in some dried pods and shrooms.
One thing good is the color of my door really works out well this time of year. Not so good at Christmas though.
I refinished the door last year in a terra cotta color and then glazed in brown. It has held up quite well even with the sun cooking it most of the day.
The front porch will hopefully get done this weekend. It is supposed to be a lot cooler.
Bring it on!

Wow party is still going on here.
I love your basket and your arrangement is wonderful ... It looks very real to me. When I saw all the yellow in your arrangement and having all these painted pumpkins in my head from all these blogs ...The first thing that came to mind ...was yellow pumpkins. I guess that is what happens when you can't sleep. Well anyway I do love your door arrangement!
ReplyDeleteNow what's wrong with fake flowers? he he!! Looks great and very fallish:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
Love your basket Kim! I know your porch will be beautiful! I still need pumpkins and would love some mums as well. Last weekend Costco had HUGE pots for like $14! I should have picked some up but was afraid they would die before too long.
ReplyDeleteLove, love your basket, Kim!
ReplyDeleteFilling it till it spills over is stunning!
I love the basket & think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteKim, your stash of florals came together just perfect, you have that great magical touch! I love the shrooms and pods that you added too! Wish I could just walk up to your striking door and take a closer look and then a closer look indoors! Would love a visit and tour of your lovely home sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
Perfect fall door!! I'm ready for the cooler weather, how about you? Whew. We are supposed to start getting a cool front on Friday, but are scheduled for 'record breaking high' again today! Geez. LOVE your welcome basket. Kim, you amaze me every day with all you get done. blessings ~ Tanna
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect and does go nicely with the coloring of your front door... funny how whenever we have purchased a house that the color of it's front door has always been of importance to me. Weird, eh.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to cool temps here too!
I have always enjoyed that basket. It looks beautiful filled with all those pretty faux flowers and fall elements. Very welcoming Kim!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket and the flowers,etc.,overflowing. The yellow flowers look like tulips?? Pretty! Everything looks natural the way you arranged it. As usual, well done! Linda
ReplyDeletehi Kim, You did a fantastic job on the front door basket, I love the colors and the way you have the flowers cascading down. Love the basket with its welcome tag. We do have the same full sun heat problem. I haven't decorated my front for the same reason. If the mums go out before the temps drop no amount of watering will make a difference. I do love the color of the front door, your right it is perfect for Fall.......

Very pretty Kim! It is hard here in the south to get too fallish too early! I'd love to have full blooming mums for post pics but then they'll be dead in 2 weeks! We're in the 80's still just like you. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteyou beat me to it:) thats ok though..
ReplyDeleteLove your door basket and the items you used.
Hey Kim!
ReplyDeleteI have that same basket I bought at a wonderful shop in Cullman, AL last year on our "fall tour of colors" but I paid a little more than $11! Anyway, it's hanging on my front door too and I put some pretty fall flowers (faux) in mine which I'm hoping to share by the weekend.
I love the way you have all those flowers spilling out of the basket, looks great!
Judy
It looks great Kim! I hope to get my fall decorating done this weekend. I am "fall"ing behind :-)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love how all the colors blend so warmly.
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty basket of flowers, Kim! The fact that they don't require watering is a huge bonus in my book! I'm ready for the work inside my house to be done, so I can get outside and "Fallify" my porch, too ;)
ReplyDeleteKim, I can relate to a porch and front door that gets baked by the sun. Your basket is lovely and so fall like. I'm ready for cooler temps too, it's been in the 80's here, not very inspirational for autumn.
ReplyDeleteKat :)
the basket is perfect for this door decoration...refreshing to see someone doing something different than a circular wreath. I'm always drawn to the people who like to do unique things like this. it really turned out fantastic
ReplyDeleteHAPPY AUTUMN !

Love your fall basket on your door! Your photos are great!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous. Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the door Kim, very pretty fall decor...
ReplyDeleteThat's so pretty and a nice change from the traditional wreath. I love how the flowers are just overflowing from the basket.
ReplyDeleteI have a basket on my door with fake flowers too! I think fakes have come a long way and I think they serve a useful purpose. Yours look fantastic and show up so well on your door! We've finally been enjoying glorious fall weather here for the past two weeks. After a brutal summer it is welcomed relief.
ReplyDeleteI love your basket of fall decor on the door. And I also like the door colour! At Christmas you could do something with coppers and bronzes and greenery. I think it's a great colour. Pamela
ReplyDeleteFaux is the only way to go in this heat! I like your basket much better than a wreath. If I find one at the price you found, I'm going to snap it up! I'm so looking forward to the cooler temps this weekend.
ReplyDeleteReally cute basket on the door. I love the way you arranged the flowers and all in it. Very pretty. stopping by from Rhoda's party.
ReplyDeleteLove your door and the basket is georgous!
ReplyDeleteKim, your floral basket looks wonderful! I'm in the same boat with you! I would love to be able to get the front entry done, but we have a forecast of temps near 100 today! Mums and pumpkins are out of the question, right now. They would just suffer. Hopefully, we'll get the cooler weather this weekend, and I can get out and play! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful Kim! I think I will replace the lavender in my welcome basket with fall silks. I gave a big container of them to my daughter a couple of weeks ago, but I'm sure I have plenty left.
ReplyDeleteFound a new source for realistic and wonderful silks yesterday, not far from home. Of course I brought some of them home!LOL
Now that's a bountiful basket! So pretty with the color of your door. I love all of the different elements that you used to make it so interesting. I saw your post over at "Southern Hospitality".
ReplyDeleteYour basket looks gorgeous!!Such pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteLove the basket! Very warm and cosy...
Your florals are so realistic looking, my first thought was that they were fresh!
Lovely fall arrangement...
All the Best,
Christine
The beauty of Autumn's abundant gifts! Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Kim! I know what you mean...our front door faces west and I have made the mistake of putting out pumpkins too early in the Texas heat. I am usually able to put them out by the week of Halloween though.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty I love how it hangs down!! Great Job as usual.
ReplyDeleteI love that basket! It reminds me of an old english mail carriers pouch, and your selection of flora is very welcoming.
ReplyDeleteVERY nice! Love the punches of barn red in there too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim! Your front door looks great! Martina
ReplyDeleteYour basket looks great! I have yet to decorate my front porch. When we moved in, I just quickly placed everything out there but have yet to tweak it and make it special. I need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteA Girl's gotta do what a Girl's gotta do! Sometimes, silk is the best way to go! Our front door faces west as well, and we're in the high 90's this week. While pumpkins are on the front porch, I figure I should have pumpkin pie soon, in this heat! Take care!
ReplyDeleteYour door decor is very attractive, Kim! You've done such a lovely job choosing the colors, flowers, and then arranging them. Also, thank you so much for hosting your lovely Wednesday blog party! Bess
ReplyDeleteKim, love your door arrangement....so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI can't decorate our porch either...still too warm. :-(
Barb
Love the basket. It certainly says "Welcome" in a lush way.
ReplyDeleteWow, how pretty! It sure makes a welcoming statement.
ReplyDeleteSo much Fall loveliness! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe welcome basket looks great and I love your choice of florals! My front porch gets full sun too, I wish I could rotate my house! Happy Fall, Debbie
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Kim! The flowers remind me of my wedding bouquet - all the bright fall colours that I chose so long ago.
ReplyDeleteThis basket is adorable. Too hot on my porch for REALS, too.
ReplyDeleteNow, if you will excuse me..gotta go find MY hanging basket to fill for MY front porch..:)) I sooo copy you ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME. :)) When YOU put books on your mantel, I run find books to go on MINE...When you are getting ready to go buy pumpkins, I am getting ready to go buy pumpkins..and I pretty much just HAFTA have a GREEN one.:)
Xo bj
I really like the basket on the door and all the florals. I may try my hand at something like this myself. My front also gets so much sun but I am ready for some Mums on the back deck I think! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteAs usual, Kim, your creation is beautiful. I love the bright yet fallish colors. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Alabama, our front door faced directly west, so I know what you mean about a sauna! Plants on that porch had to be watered every day without fail or else. . . .
Love your basket and choice of flowers, 'shrooms and lotus pods. I'm ready to redo my wreath. It isn't holding up that well. I did it in a hurry and probably need to re-work it. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteas always, Kim, very lovely. I think fake flowers are the only way to go outside!
ReplyDeleteI have a hot entrance, too. Don't you just wish sometimes we could push a button and change the color of the door to suit the season? I wanted a black door with a black storm, but the seller told me they get too hot together and the glass on the storm might explode, as it has w/ some others. I was like... what????? Never heard that one. So I went with white. But I soooo wanted black. andrea@townandprairie
ReplyDeleteIt's terrific Kim and more interesting than the traditional wreath.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, your front door looks very fall festive! Love the basket.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day,
Gail
It's so beautiful with the basket and the flowers.
ReplyDeleteA big hug from Sweden
Your door turned out very pretty! I finally decorated my front porch today after the Boosterthon. I usually wait till October and since it's almost here, today was the day! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your entrance all decked out!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful front door arrangement... I might copy some.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
ReplyDeletePam
Yeah, still hot here too...
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Your basket is very welcoming Kim~it looks great. My front door also gets the sun all day and it is hard to keep anything alive out there in urns etc...they just bake.
ReplyDeleteYou're right- Your door is the PERFECT color for a Fall setting. You are still hot there and we are starting to get REALLY cold. High tomorrow is around 50º. We have rain and high winds today with lows in the 30's.
ReplyDeleteYour basket looks great though....nice and lush..the way I like them. Perfect~ xo Diana
I love door baskets...and how everything droops out of them. Yours is full and perfect. Have a wonderful weekend! I have a quick question if you have time...I got my AS paint in Aubusson blue. It's pretty teal. What should I add to make it a little more navy?
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI just love how you arranged the flowers in your basket...they just seem to pour out over the sides...so natural and pretty. I love the color of your door...would love to paint mine a burnt orange color but just haven't had the energy yet. Hope it cools down for you soon so you can get a taste of fall.
Cheryl
Kim,
ReplyDeleteYour basket of flowers looks very pretty. I love how they are spilling out so very romantically. Thank you for linking it up at Home Sweet Home!
Sherry
Perfect basket. Our last house had the afternoon, evening sun on the door. We had to paint or restain almost every year. I know how you feel. It will look great at Christmas too. I can't wait to decorate my new "red" door this year.
ReplyDeleteThe basket is beautiful and so lush! This is the very best combination: lush and thrifty!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Potpourri Friday. I appreciate your participation, Kim!
The basket on the door is absolutely fabulous my dear. I love it. Now I really am in the mood for fall. You have gone and pushed me over the edge.
ReplyDeletePaula
It looks great, Kim. I'm a sucker for any kind of baskets, overflowing is even better.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I made mine a couple of weeks ago. I think I'll revamped it now.. lol hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteVery lovely, Kimmie!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
shelia ;)
I just love this! You always have the right touch! Your door is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love that! Reusing what you have makes you push and figure out something unique....it's perfect and fallish and welcoming. Great job! Lisa~
ReplyDeleteLove the door and your expensive looking $11 basket!! The faux stuff looks fab too!! What a great entry!
ReplyDeleteSeriously Stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis is so much prettier than a wreath! Very welcoming! ♥
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Kim! so full and beautiful. love the colors! thanks for linking up to VIF!xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful door basket. The mixed florals and naturals looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like faux flowers better than real ones at least they last alot longer! You did a great job on it too! I'm holding off this year on buying pumpkins and mums until it gets alot cooler probably the middle of Oct. I should go today because it is only in the 40's here today!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Kim! I love your basket and the overflowing florals are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's just gorgeous Kim! Thanks for sharing it at Inspiration Friday!
ReplyDeleteVanessa
It looks beautiful. Do you have a nail in the door? We have a solid glass storm door that I was able to put a hook over to hang things. But, we replaced the door a few months ago and now it is so tight (energy saving) that we can't fit the hook over it and shut the door. I miss being able to do that!
ReplyDeleteKim, your basket is really beautiful, very classy and elegant.
ReplyDeleteI have hooked up with Julia's Party as well!
